Thanks little edie!

My mom is doing pretty good. She's able to bear weight on her right foot and she's moving around a lot better. I'm actually taking her to get her hair done at 3:30 this afternoon. And tomorrow she has a nail appointment at 11am. She is getting a little frustrated with my cooking. She says she wants REAL food. I just laugh and say, "this is REAL food." My sister in law has been bringing food over from their leftovers but they will be on vacation next week. I'm sure I will make a couple trips to fast food resturaunts for my mom.

I went for my WI this morning. Before I stepped on the scale.. me and the consultant looked at each other, took deep breaths and she said, "We're going for 268?". I said, "Yep! 268 and I sign the 60lb board." She said, "well get on there!." Then she clapped and said, "YAH! Oh wait! Hurry! Take something off!" I looked down and saw 268.5 and said What?!? She said, "Hurry! Give me your watch!" I took my watch off and BAM! 268!! I know my watch doesn't weigh .5lbs but it was enough to push me down. We high fived and the center manager came in and I high fived her. The consultants were peeking out of their rooms to congratulate me. :carrot: Day 105 and 60lbs down! That's just amazing to me! I'm ecstatic!

I'm off to update my ticker and change my picture :D

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

*Had to edit this... I'm no longer classified as Morbidly Obese! I'm just Obese now! HA!

RaRaF 07-08-2011 04:51 PM

I WI today and am down 2.5, so that takes me to 26 total. (still can't figure out how to change my profile info) I'm a little surprised, as I was NOT good over the 4th of July weekend. I'm so busy and stressed right now that I'm just sort of "modifying" as I go along, using bars and HNS's--I guess it's working. I'm actually sort of ready for school to start again for the kids so we can get back to a routine. I'd really like to see a good loss this week, because I'll go to the green menu next and hope that will jump-start me a little. It's slow going, but it's working. :)

Goneforgood1128 07-08-2011 05:42 PM

Congrats to all who've lost this week!

Candi--your story of losing while on "vacation" has inspired me to work really hard while I'm on vacation next week to still show a loss when I come back! We shall see!

The problem won't be making OP choices, but it will be that every meal will be out because we are in a hotel for 7 nights--no kitchen! I was planning to buy some ready to drink shakes and vanilla wafers to help me out (I have never used them before, but thought I might fill in some of the out to eat lunches with them), but my center has been out of both ALL week! So, at Wal-mart, I bought some protein shakes. I don't know what the nutrition information is on the MRC ones (if anyone would like to tell me, I'd appreciate it so I can compare),but I looked for one high in protein, low in calories, fat and carbs (17g protein, 110 cal, 2 carbs, 3g fat and 1 g fiber).

I am also confused with the whole fish oil (EFA) situation...I bought the MRC EFA for the first two months. However, in an effort to cut down some of the costs, I switched to one from Walgreens this month (because they often run their vitamins buy one get one free). The one I bought is 1200 mg of fish oil total and it says, "Total Omega 3 Fatty Acids 684mg." That's for one capsule and it says to take one time a day. When I compared it to the MRC one, it seemed like that was equivalent. BUT, the consultants are telling me I need 9000 mg of fish oil and that is what I was getting from theirs. So, they say I need to take NINE of the ones I bought to get the same amount. Here's where I get confused...On the MRC bottle, it says, "Total Omega 3 Fatty Acids = 0.5g (500mg) and Total Omega 6 Fatty Acids = 0.2g (200mg)." However, this is not per capsule, the serving size says THREE capsules. They had me taking TWO capsules before each meal, for a total of SIX per day, which would be TWO total servings. How does that add up to 9000mg?!!! I thought I was pretty good at math, but this doesn't seem to add up to me! I know I've seen on other posts in this forum that people have been told they should be getting 9000mg of fish oil a day, so I think that's what they tell everyone. What I don't get is how the MRC fish oil is providing that and the consultant I talked to today couldn't explain it to me. She said she gets never remembers how to convert grams to mg, etc. I told her 1000mg=1 gm, but she still couldn't really explain it. But, she did scare me that I might not be getting enough of the EFA. She made the comment, "I wish you would have just kept taking ours." Can someone help me understand this here and explain how the MRC dose of EFA is providing the required 9000 mg per day?!

I'm also taking myself off the Corti-trim and using an over the counter multivitamin, but I didn't even "go there" with her today!!!

Sorry for such a long post, but my sister and I are struggling with the same issue and we thought we had it figured out, until I asked at the center today! I wouldn't be so concerned, except that I don't want to risk my health!

LetHerOut 07-08-2011 09:17 PM

I was told to take 3 MRC fish oil capsules per meal. But if they're only 700mg of fish oil, you're right that that's not 9,000.

victorialynn2 07-08-2011 10:45 PM

Rzrbackcandi Wow, 60 lbs in 105 days. That's awesome. Congrats!

luvs2read79 07-08-2011 10:54 PM

First Weigh-In

I had my food instruction class this evening and my first weigh-in. I lost 7 lbs on pre-conditioning! Yay! I'll start the meta-slim plus level 4 plan on Monday per their instructions. I wonder why not tomorrow...didn't even think to ask. I go to the conference Sunday night, but after looking at the plan, I still think it should be do-able.

I went ahead and purchased a package and hope that it all really helps and that it is a while before I have to shell out any more money. In two weeks, I've spent like $700 but I said that'll be my motivation to stay on program.

Candi - congrats on your amazing success. I just hope that I can have some increment of the loss that you've experienced.

All of your ladies are such an inspiration - so many near their goal weight, on stabilization, etc. It really does give me hope that I'll be successful also.

Rzrbackcandi 07-08-2011 11:01 PM

Goneforgood - Staying in a hotel with a kitchen was what kept me on track. I knew I couldn't afford to eat out each meal but I really couldn't afford to put my diet on hold for a week. Good luck to you and just remember to have fun!

As for the Fish Oil. I take 2 Krill everyday. 1 at breakfast and 1 at dinner. I've taken Fish oil pills before and hated it. I would ask your center about taking Krill instead. I buy mine at Walgreens - just the generic Walgreens brand and wait for them to be BOGO free.

Congrats to all the losers! I actually love being called that now :-) Well, under the right context :)

I know a few people have emailed me for the food sheet - I will get that sent out tomorrow! I'm pooped so I'm heading to bed.

Dolly 07-08-2011 11:08 PM

Oh, Jen, sometimes they last three weeks. I'm now taking Provera but it only helps a little.

I'm looking forward to menopause. Or a job with insurance so I can get that hysterectomy.

Candice, it is no wonder you are literally the poster girl for successful weight loss. You must look forward to getting on those scales. I'm very happy for you.

coarkkayaker, is that a yorkie in your avatar? My oldest yorkie, Harvey Fierstein, just turned ten on Fourth of July. My youngest, Oscar Hammerstein, is only a year and a half.

LovesToRead, just read Room. Very riveting.

The money shelled out is a definite motivator but knowing you are getting healthier and thinner is what keeps me on track.

I hope all goes well at your conference.

carmen3498 07-09-2011 10:46 AM

I lost 3 pounds in preconditioning this week! Got my yellow menu and am happy that I started weighing food in pre-con. There were no surprises yesterday. I'd rather have some fish with my lunch rather than a HNS. I'm willing to stick with it, not like it's forever only like 10 days until I get the good ole green menu that you all speak of. Thanks for this forum keeps me honest about my eating.

I'm in the same boat-- maintained since my last WI despite doing perfectly. When I went to take the ketosis strip test, though, I realized it was TOM. I used to hold onto about 3 lbs., so hopefully that's what I'm doing this time. This also explains the mood swings last week-- I was blaming preconditioning. :o

ConnieInColorado 07-09-2011 03:12 PM

Hi Everyone!

I have been encouraged by your posts for awhile, but I haven't had the time to chime in much.

I think my login name should be "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" instead of ConnieInColorado!

I started with Pre-Cond a little over 2 weeks ago and am now on the green menu. I was worried about my WI this morning as I am cramping and bloated, but I still lost a couple of pounds.

In 18 days I am down 11 lbs (with PMS!!) and 17.75 inches!! I am in shock at how it seems to be MELTING away!!

I am only taking the suppliments required by the center here: Muliti & EAS. I purchased the Fiber drink on my 1st day, for lack of better judgement, but it doesn't really work for me. As many of you, I wanted to see what I was able to do "on my own" first.

I am 49 and have 22 lbs to Goal. I turn 50 on 8/14 and I want to be "Fifty & Fabulous"!! LOL

I have been overweight for the majority of my life. So far this is the 1st plan out of MANY that has worked this quickly and "easily". Don't get me wrong, it's tough giving up the foods I loved, but I have NEVER been able to lose like this. I feel like I need to pinch myself!!

I feel Blessed to be on this journey with all of you.

Connie

patzi 07-09-2011 06:53 PM

I weighed in yesterday and gained 1.2 pounds. It was probably from eating out the night before, I ate well, but probably the salt again.

I did not add anything to my maintenance before weigh in Friday,so will stay neutral until weigh in on Tuesday. I am still 4 pound under goal, which I am happy with.

Connie in Colorado.. I am so happy for you. You are doing so well. The program sure does work, if one works it.

luvs2read79..Welcome and congrats on your weight loss.

Rzrbackcandi.. How great you are doing.. You are an awesome person, and I am so glad all is working out for you. I always get a place with a kitchen, when I travel, as that is what kept me OP. Your loss is great to hear.. You have worked the program and am happy the results are to your liking. Pat yourself on the back.

Congratulations to all the losers. Have a wonderful evening and a great Sunday.
Patzi

ConnieInColorado 07-10-2011 11:17 AM

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Does anyone have any suggestions for PMS cravings? I don't even know if I'm actually having cravings or if it's a habitual thing, but I've found myself eating salty crackers between lunch and dinner the last 2 days!! I can't blow this just because of TOM (I think is what you all call it)!! My consultant mentioned a supplement last week, but I can't remember what she said. I don't know if I should take something to curb the urge/craving, or just figure out how to RESIST eating the junk!

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.

Patzi ~ Hopefully, the 1.2 gain is only salt like you said. Drink lots of water before your next weigh in.

chasing skinny 07-10-2011 12:29 PM

I weighed yesterday and was down another 2.5, but that is for 2 weeks. My weight loss is getting very very slow. This is not motivating!! The consultant I had yesterday told me she notices when the weight loss slows, the inches pick up, anyone heard of this? I am going to keep trucking :) I also got free fat and carb blocker yesterday when buying my other stuff. I will be going on vacation in 2 weeks, so that was nice.

Yes, it's true. I didn't lose much in Jan/Feb this year (it was really frustrating!) but when they did my monthly measurements, I still had lost a great number of inches. It made me feel better and made it easier to keep going, even though I wasn't really seeing the weekly results on the scale.

I will second what teacherlady says..

chasing skinny 07-10-2011 06:34 PM

Thanks PAtzi and teacherlady, that makes me feel better. I did get some new clothes yesterday and it felt SO SO SO good to buy a smaller size. I CAN NOT wait until I am a size XL, or 16 in all brands and can shop in the regular area, there are sooooo many more choices. I figure another 20 lbs and I will be there for sure!

Question on the Fat and Carb blocker. They didnt tell me how to take them and the bottle doesnt make sense. How should I use them?

You take 2 before the meal where you're going to be off plan. I think they need to be down for 15-20 minutes before you eat the "bad" stuff. I usually take them when they bring drinks. I've had consultants tell me different times, though, so I'd love to hear what others have to say, too.

JenB72 07-11-2011 09:10 AM

Candi - Congrats on 60 pounds!!!! That is so exciting. You can definitely tell in your avatar the change. It's fun watching you shrink! ;)

RaRaF - 26 pounds is great!!! Woohoo!!!! Hang in there. Slow and steady wins the race. That's what they say, right? As long as the scale moves in the right direction, that's all that matters. Keep it up!

luvs2read79 - You just wait. If you stick to it, you will be successful and may end up being the inspiration for someone else. We all had to start somewhere. This board has been one of my saving graces. When times get tough, these ladies provide an invaluable support. Just take it one day, one meal at a time and you CAN do this!!! :)

carmen3498 - Congrats on losing during pre-con. Just wait until you start the program. You will be amazed. It may get frustrating at times, but it's so worth it!

tkdtara84 - TTOM is such an evil thing. LOL I'm a faithful tracker of my periods so I knew last Monday was the beginning of my PMS week and Mother Nature should hit sometime today. In order to combat PMS this time around, I actually did Meta-Quick for an entire week. Made things much easier.

ConnieInColorado - Congrats to a great start! And the great thing is, the foods aren't gone forever. Once you lose the weight, some things do come back, but you are armed with the tools to eat the right amount that you can maintain your loss. As for the cravings, I think you want Guggul. According to their product sheet, it's for carb and salt cravings.

Patzi - You are such an inspiration! I hope I do as well on stabilization and maintenance as you are.

Chasing Skinny - In addition to using the F&C Blockers when going off plan, I was told by my consultants to take them anytime you eat out because you don't know exactly how the meals were prepared.

As for the Fish Oil & Krill questions, I wish I could help, but I have a bad fish phobia. Will not eat it, will not take the pills, will not touch it. Nothing, nada, zilch, forget it! I think I blew my counselor's mind when she said, but you'll eat tuna, right? NO WAY!!! If it came out of the water, it's not touching my lips. Not even shrimp? NOOOOO!!!! Not to mention, if the water doesn't have chlorine and a concrete bottom, the chances of me getting in it are slim to none.

I actually had an exciting thing happen yesterday. I had to have my wedding rings re-sized. They went from a 7 to a 6. I think they were originally 5 1/4. What a validation. And I've probably got about another 30 pounds to go before I'm done, so we'll see if I have another re-sizing event in my future.

Hope everyone has a great week!!!!!!! :cheer:

ETA: WI at lunch and down another 1.5 pounds since Friday. :)

chasing skinny 07-11-2011 08:00 PM

I plan to stay as OP as I can, since I am going to the coast, I should be able to get a lot of fish and salads. BUT I will be eating out 3 times a day!! YIKES. Can I take the Fat and Carb blocker at lunch and supper? I can handle breakfast at a small cafe.

I also made some yummy cookies with vanilla pudding, oatmeal, Waldenfarms PB and coconut flavoring, O M G!!! I may put chocolate dipping sauce on one in a minute.....tomorrow I might try chocolate cookies...oh my!!!

I asked about this today and my consultant said the same thing... about 15-20 minutes before you eat.

ginpea 07-11-2011 10:16 PM

Hi everyone! I lost 5.5 pounds on pre-conditioning, even after having my big Mexican food cheat day!

I went to my food class Friday night and got put on a yellow menu that says at the top "Metaslim Days 1-4." I've done it for three days now and plan to go in for a weigh-in tomorrow evening and will see if I am getting a new menu or not. Is anyone familiar with this menu? I drank my HNS mixed with a Sprite Zero the last two nights, then my friend (who is on the beige menu) told me that her menu says she can have up to 32 oz of diet soda a day. Mine doesn't say anything like that. The only meal that shows a drink (besides the HNS drinks) is breakfast, and it says decaf unsweet tea or coffee. So I'm not sure whether the Sprite was okay or not. I guess I'll see when I go in tomorrow.

If any of you were on this Meta Slim 4 day menu, did you stay on it for longer than four days, or did you get a new one?

ETA: Also, I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I didn't look at my menu carefully enough, because for two days, I ate two ounces of hard cheese at breakfast, then realized (while I was reading the menu to my friend) that I was only supposed to be eating ONE ounce of hard cheese for breakfast. :( I hope I haven't messed up too much this week.

That is awesome! I am hoping my shoe size goes down at some point as I don't wear rings.

Congrats on your weight loss also!

After 4 days on that menu, you usually move to the blue one for 6 more days, then the green. I just finished the yellow and blue and start green tomorrow. I'm pretty sure at the very top it tells you you can have a certain amount of diet soda a day as long as it's non-caffeinated. Check at the very top.

victorialynn2 07-11-2011 10:23 PM

I had my second WI today. I lost another 4.5 lbs in the last 10 days for a total of 8.5 lbs in 3 weeks. I'm pretty happy with that! Whoo Hoo!

coarkkayaker 07-11-2011 11:26 PM

Sounds like congratulations are due to everyone! All of you are shedding those pounds! Way to go.

I have my WI tomorrow and I'm scared...I totally blew it on Saturday when we ate out and I ordered poorly...Mexican food. My weakness. By my scale I'm up a pound...wish me luck.

victorialynn2 07-11-2011 11:55 PM

I wish you luck Coarkkayaker! No matter what the outcome, tomorrow is another day to start off fresh!

Dolly 07-12-2011 02:10 AM

Carmen, Connie, ginpea, chasingskinny, and Victoria Lynn, congrats on your weight loss!

You too, Jen.

Every little bit gets us closer to goal!

Good luck this morning, coarkkayaker!

I always draw encouragement when I see the losses everyone else has had. So I'm doubly glad when someone on here loses. It's so inspiring!

Good luck, Coarkkayaker! If I could offer a suggestion, discuss your Mexican food weakness with your counselor. They can offer suggestions to you of things you can eat at a Mexican restaurant that are on plan. Just because you are on this journey doesn't mean there aren't healthier alternatives there. Back in the day, my center had a "cheat sheet" of what you could get at various restaurants that are still on plan. It was a life saver for me. Check and see if they have a copy of that too.

patzi 07-12-2011 10:50 AM

Hi..
Weighed in and lost 1 1/2 pounds gained last week, so I am down 5 pounds from my maintenance goal.

Ginpea. You are on Meta Slim like I was before maintenance. First menu 1-4 days, second 5-11, third is for the rest of time till you hit stabilization. You will benefit yourself if you follow menu exactly as it is written. You had a nice weight loss. I do not believe any kind of soft drink is allowed on menu 1-4. Maybe on second one, and I think it is a limited amount.

I have a sheet that says what you can have at Mexican restaurant, Italian, etc and stay OP.. So, if anyone's center does not have it, let me know where you are going to eat and I will look it up for you

Congratulations to all the losers.. I am happy for y'all..

momoffour 07-12-2011 03:01 PM

Hi all,

It sounds like many of us are doing well! Contrats to the losers! Things are a bit crazy right now and I have not had much time online but wanted to encourage you all to stay OP and keep going! If you went off plan get back on immediately and if you have stayed OP but the scale is not cooperating - don't give up! I will WI tomorrow and hope to sign that 40 lb board - It has taken several weeks to lose these last 2-3 lbs but my home scale shows a loss of 41 lbs so hopefully the scale at the center will copererate tomororw and I will finally sign that board.

Patzi - I bet it feels nice to have that 5 lbs of "wiggle room" - it sounds like you are learning to master maintenace.

Candi -welcome back - praying for you and you mom and all the changes and stresses caring for her can involve. I took care of my Mom for nearly a year and while at times it was exhausting and fustrating, I would not give up that time for anything in the world. We both learned so many things about each other and really did grow closer together. . . I love watching your profile picture continue to shrink so keep it up!

JenB - I've started looking into having my ring resized - decided to start off with just a ring gaurd, but soon I am sure we will have to do something more permenant or it is just going to slip right off my finger.

Mariah

Rzrbackcandi 07-12-2011 04:25 PM

I'm falling behind again on all the posts!

I used to be able to check this thing every hour, while at work. And now that I'm doing two jobs, I don't have that privledge. Even got a text from one of my friends saying she hasn't seen me on facebook. I'm hoping things will start to settle down :dizzy:

Mariah - Good luck with the 40lb board! I will definitely check back tomorrow to find out if you made it!

Patzi - You are Amazing! Congrats on your maintenance.

JenB - I don't have a wedding ring but I do have my college class ring, which I got in 2003 (it took me about 10 years to graduate college, so it's special to me). I've been trying it on about every other week and I'm just now able to slide it on my finger all the way! It's still a little snug but I can't wait to be able to get that thing sized down! Congrats to you!

Congrats to all the losers & welcome to all the new people!

As for me - I went for a WI this morning and only lost .5lbs over the weekend. Which puts me 9.5lbs away from the 70lb board! HA! I hope to get there next week or the week after. This weekend was just crazy and my meals times were pushed back because I was out running errands and taking my mom places. Plus, I went to the chiropractor last night for an adjustment and I'm hurting a little bit today - so hoping to show a bigger loss at the end of the week because of water weight.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Well Ladies, It sounds like we're just all a bunch of LOSERS!!!
I never thought I'd want to be called that, but isn't is awesome??!!

Congrats to all of you. How amazing that so many of you are about to sign the 60 & 70 lb board!! And then their is Patzi.....the "Rock Star" with the 5 lbs under goal!! Oh, and let's not forget Jen, with having to get her ring resized! It's all so exciting.

For the 1st time in my life, I really think I can do this!

At my WI this morning, I am down 1.0 in only 3 days and that is WITH PMS!!
I was sooooooo surprised, I've always gained 3 lbs during this time.

I have no doubt that MRC WORKS!!

Weighed in today, and I'm up another pound. Grrr.

Really, though, I'm not terribly concerned--I weighed in right after lunch, and I usually never do that so soon after a meal. Also, I'm still under goal--even my center's goal (they wanted me at 191). So, I'm just looking at this as being normal fluctuation. I figure I'll worry about it if it goes up again next week--then I'll just go back to week 6 of stabilization, maybe do a day of metaquick, too.

Congrats to all the losers this week! It sounds like the warm weather is really helping everyone shed the lbs!

Hi ladies--I'm so happy to read about all the lbs. lost recently! yay!! As for me, I'm SO hungry today. I don't know what my deal is, it's been the past two days and I'm just hungry. I've been OP since the end of April and have never felt this way, surpisingly. Do you think I'm doing something wrong? I'm actually starting to really feel good about everything this week--my clothes are too big, I FEEL like I look better, maybe it's all in my head? I've lost 26 lbs, well, maybe another by now, but I have quite a ways to go. I need to get my head back in this game!

Not to get your hopes up, but I always had a pretty good loss after I had a day or two of feeling really hungry. I used to joke that it must mean that my body got hungry enough to eat itself. ;)

LOL--I hope you're right! As long as I can stay OP--I already had a couple of cherry tomatoes cause I just needed something! --I guess it could have been worse, huh? :)

teacherlady- I remember you saying this before-that a few days of hunger while on plan can lead to a big loss. I kept telling myself this last night and didn't cheat.

Today I had to make myself eat- go figure.
