Default Terrible Turkey!

I bought some ground turkey and tried to make it into patties tonight. I am on the blue menu and thought this would be a great idea. Ummm...no.

Even with generous amount of my favorite seasonings, it was still...well...gross. It was really dry and I think the maybe the grind was too small? It was just blech. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

My sister made me dinner tonight (she's also on MRC), and it was similar to what you described, but really yummy.

She got ground chicken breast (Smart Chicken brand is best, it's "stickier") and made it into palm-sized balls after mixing it with some seasoning (parlsey, garlic powder, onion powder, and I'm not sure what else). Then she mashed each ball of meat onto a measured amount of panko bread crumbs (we counted this as our carb serving for the meal) so it was a pretty thin patty with bread crumbs on only one side.

She put a little olive oil in a nonstick pan, then fried up the chicken (breaded side down first, then flip it over). Because the patties are so thin, it cooks really quickly and is pretty crispy on the breaded side. After she cooked a few patties, she weighed them and portioned them out for each of us. Add some steamed veggies, and yum! I'm not much of a mustard fan, but it's like a chicken schnitzel, and it's actually pretty good with a little bit of mustard on the side.

Quick, easy, and yummy! Hope this helps!

I sub ground turkey for ground beef. I make burgers, meatballs, and use it for taco meat.

I season with garlic powder and fresh ground pepper and a little red pepper flake. Its always good to me. Maybe you had a bad package or something. Also, for what its worth, I never buy the store brand, but I buy Jennie-O, or whatever the national turkey brand is.

I think it is the Honeysuckle White? It was just terrible.
