Default Belly issues and MRC

If you don't like talking about bodily functions, than this thread isn't for you.

Does anyone else here have IBS? (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) I had it under control with a very high fiber diet (2 Vita-Tops a day with fiber supplements). Now that I've cut the Vita-Tops out, my IBS is awful. Great for weight loss, but not for actually feeling human. Anyone have any tips? I'm in the preconditioning phase, so I'm eating a lot of ruffage as is, and drinking nothing but water (well trying, I broke down today and had a diet coke).

Thanks....

I haven't been on here in FOREVER, but I thought I'd answer you. Once you start the program, you'll probably end up going the other way totally. Most folks find the high protein/low carbs makes you constipated.
I had IBS all through my 20's and 30's, but thankfully it is gone now.
I don't know what Vita-Tops is, but you can still take fiber supplements. MRC has some you can try. I did the entire program taking OTC supplements (though I never mentioned it at the center) with no detriment to my weight loss.
Just be patient and see how you do once you've been on the regular menu for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the hope!
Not to be gross, but I don't think I can ever remember being constipated since I develped IBS.
Vitatops are awesome. They are 100cal, with a high fiber content, low sugar muffin tops. Very filling and the chocolate flavors are to die for.
And so very much not on the MRC menu!

I have had 'those issues' for about 6 years and after starting MRC I actually feel normal (or what I imagine normal as). I don't have to rush to the restroom or plan my outing knowing where the nearest restroom is (well, maybe a litlle..but only for water reasons ).

I was diagnosed with IBS about 10 years ago. Since starting this diet in November I no longer have any of "those issues." I actually need to take the fiber drinks once in a while or I end up with the other "issue." Hope this program helps you too!

I had the same "issue" & since starting MRC I can now eat a meal & not have to be near a restroom. I have found on occasion though that I have been constipated, which was never an issue for me before...so I just drink a fiber HNS or a concentrate HNS b/c those are "fiber enriched".

Try whole Psyllium Husks from Swanson Vitamins. They give you a lot of fiber!

Okay I've been reading this forum since I started MRC in January but this my first comment. I have been dealing with IBS for 2 years and the only thing that I found that works is Heather's tummy care products.
I use the tummy tamers peppermint pills. They are the only thing that work for me. But like the others have said this diet has actually really helped my IBS. I can actually enjoy a salad and I haven't been able to do that in over a year.
