Just getting started here...day 2 of meta slim. I forgot how much I don't like to eat salads on cold day at home. On the plus side, I discovered hot pink lemonade HNS is a good replacement for my afternoon cup of tea.

Down six pounds today...hooray!

Well have been stuck in the house due to another lovely snow storm in Nebraska - I am really getting sick of this stuff. Kids just went back to school on Tuesday after Christmas break and have been got out early on Wednesday and then no school today or tomorrow. Trying really hard to stay on preconditioning but has proved tough over the past day. Going to try to shovel later if the winds kick down a bit. Going to start the yellow menu on Monday morning which will be good need more rigor in my eating habits.

GoodGirl - totally understand what you mean about eating salads when its cold out - but they will help us feel better about ourselves when it warm outside :)

I am trying to go this on my own - literally do it from home and just hoping that I can. From people that have tried to do on their own do you feel you have been successful? Just wondering if I should make the monetary investment yet another time when I think I already now what it takes - well outside of stabalization and maintenance. Anyone's inputs would be appreciated!

Thanks and Stay Warm!

Just thought I'd throw this out as a random thought. Why do they ask "Is there anyway we can help you?" when we go in for evaluations. My typical out loud response is no, but in my head I'm thinking "yeah, you can lose the weight for me and you can make this program and all its supplements a lot cheaper." I know they're just being nice and trying to help us out and encourage us, but them asking me this is just plain annoying since they will obviously say no to the requests from my head. When you get down and dirty with it, it's up to us to implement changes in our lives to lose the weight. It's our own internal motivation that gets us there and I'm not sure what they can do to help with that.

I have that same conversation in my head everytime they ask that.. I think you could let me eat cake, and still lose weight.. but since that's not going to happen.. No, Thanks..

It is down to us to control those things.. And realize that being healthy/happy/thinner is better than that piece of cake.

Oh so true...I want them to tell me why I overeat in the first place, and when I'm going to be able to eat like a normal person again...if ever...
Don't get me wrong. This is the best diet I've ever been on, but now that I'm getting close to stabilization I'm really scared that I'm not prepared to keep this weight off....

GoodGirl 01-08-2010 11:40 AM

For me, it's obvious my "normal" way of eating isn't normal and doesn't work for me. I have to take the habits of a lifetime and turn them around one choice at a time. If you're doing it on your own, it's going to be hard without some positive feedback. I'm paying for the program because it's possible to lose a lot of weight fast. I also need the positive reinforcement from the center to keep motivated after it slows down a bit.

Happy note: Day 3 of MetaSlim...Lost another pound...7 total!

On Your Own

Hi Kristi,

Welcome back! As far as doing it on your own .... well, my personal experience has been that it's much slower and more difficult, but I don't have the financial option to rejoin, so I'm plugging away. I also had a hard time getting to the center when they were open -- I had always wished they had early morning hours, but they never opened until 9. I guess I don't really care how long it takes, as long as I keep working at it and don't give up. I still use my old materials, take max HNS (bought online) and get support here.

I do miss the camaraderie of the other women who were going -- I always seemed to run into the same ones -- I had taken all of the classes, so still have all of that material and review it, and do some of the exercises.

The bottom line is my success is up to me -- I'm the one who makes the choices as to what I choose to eat. I know how my body responds (very carb sensitive) and what choices will benefit me -- and it's only me who can make that change.

So good luck! I believe it can be done, it just seems a tad bit harder. :carrot:

I agree Deb....success is up to each individual. Does everyone's center offer classes? I just went to one the other night on self-esteem. I was pleasantly surprised at the great info I received, especially on self affirmations. I decided to do daily affirmations for myself. This is my first week back on plan after being gone for 8 weeks and I am doing well!

So glad to see you back --- and soooooooooo sorry for all of the struggles you had with your health! Happy you're on the mend. I've never been an "affirmation" person, but I liked that class too and look at those often.

*Big Deep Sigh* I have come to confess...I've done MRC for over a year combined and I have never ever been as far off plan as I was over the holidays. I've got 14 dozen excuses, but they don't matter much...I ate whatever, whenever and I'm paying for it. I haven't been back into my center yet (bad roads...I'll go in tomorrow I think) but I know I've got a crazy gain I'm carrying around. I've been back OP for two days...and my body is mad about it. Remember that sick feeling you can get during your first week OP, yeah...I'm there. My body is detoxing hard. I am having cravings and lots of things that I never deal with.

Anyway...my main excuse for the last week has been insane tooth pain. I'm having a root canal on Monday, so we'll see how that goes. Its really hard to convince myself to eat anything that I have to chew because it hurts, but I've been doing it.

I'll check back in tomorrow after I WI. It's gonna be brutal, but I know it'll come off...just need to get back to it.

Oh Sam! I did the same thing -- holiday treats are just so tempting, but I've have been back on now for a week or so. It's hard, we know it, just dust yourself off and get back to doing what you want to do. I know you and I made it through the holidays the first time without all of this mess -- I guess I just don't have the desire to make those choices. But the holidays are over and now we can move forward.

The cravings are hard and I feel your pain. Welcome back, we can do this!! Good luck tomorrow - maybe it's not quite as bad as you think. And if it is ... well, here's to fresh starts!! :carrot:

Hvnlymzic 01-08-2010 09:39 PM

Awww thanks Deb!! I feel aweful and hungry all the time...seriously it's food withdrawls and is plenty enough inspiration to eat the right things. I'm sure the WI tomorrow will be ok...I know I'll have a gain, but I am ready to get back to it. :)

I survived a baby shower today! My first major temptation since starting the program. I chewed cinnamon gum the whole time and stayed away from the food. Metaslim day 4...9 1/2 pounds gone...happy day!

Good job GoodGirl. For me it actually got easier as I went along OP. Now that you have experience avoiding temptation you can have confidence the next time that you will succeed. Always having a plan helped me.

Whew!

I made it through a family lunch for one of my kid's 31st birthday today .... at a Cuban restaurant! I had a "box lunch" that included skirt steak, a cobb salad, black beans and a small desert. I ate the steak, the salad and 1/4 cup of the beans and gave the desert to my son, so all was good --- now in the morning I will see what effect the salt may have had. But I was pretty happy to make it through! Whew!!:)
