  • Quote: My center had a similar offer. If you went in at the beginning of the week you got to choose an envelope. If you went in Fri or Sat you got whatever was in the envelope. I got two free weeks, which puts my program ending on 12/28, the day before my birthday. I'm really going to step it up this month and see if I can get to my goal by my birthday. At the rate I've been losing, I'm not sure if these last pounds will come off that quick, but school will be out, I'll have more time to exercise so I'm hoping that helps. I haven't had much time to fit that in unless I wanted to give up sleeping.

FL - I made a double batch of the chicken salad you posted with leftover turkey last night. I'm looking forward to my lunch today! Thanks for sharing.
I hope you just love it. I have taken it twice this week already....I hope I don't get sick of it, because it is so easy and so yummy. In case cranberries are out of season, you could just add the whole apple instead. I think the cranberries give it a little color and tartness. (is that a word??)

Quote: i have a goal of signing the 20-pound board by or before 12/19 because that is when i will be seeing my cousin, who is a few years older than me and who has lost a good 40-45 pounds on medifast in the past few months and i hate that she's upstaging me, lol. FRIENDLY COMPETITION, i swear, although technically she is not aware that i am competing with her. :P anyway i have a good feeling about my week so far (i've already shed my thanksgiving pounds and hope to be at 184 or 183 by my saturday weigh-in) so hopefully i can hit the 170s in due time!

my overarching goal for december is to get to somewhere between 170 and 175. lofty! but i really need to get my scale moving again.

on a side note, i have an appointment today with an orthopedic surgeon to get my foot numbness figured out (my feet go numb whilst running). hopefully it won't actually require surgery, but we'll see. also there is a 5k on sunday that i'm signed up for and i would really hate to miss it, even though i'm terrified because it's on a cross-country course, meaning GRASS and HILLS and i've only ever run on paved surfaces. i might die. or fail.
You must be running at Pioneers??? If so, Choo Choo Hill is a challenge. good luck Leahruthie. I hope it is a beautiful day for a run!!!

Quote: Msim ... I just HATE those yo-yo pounds (lol) ... and yes, I'm about where I was before Thanksgiving, so onward we go.

Fifties Lady .... on the dietdirect site, click on the "sale" icon on the top right-hand side of the homepage, it will bring up 6 items that are on sale through this week ... and the concentrates are one of those -- Proti-Diet I think is the box label, but they are the identical product as the center's. They get them from the same place (as do many centers from around the country, just using different names). When you click on a product, you have the option to look at the nutritional information .... do that and you will see it's identical. When the creamies go on sale, I'll let you know.
Thank you for this info. I am going to check it out now. Do you think they notice when you aren't ordering as much from MRC? I know they do write down your order in your file each time.

Has anyone noticed that the Chicken Bouillon has a different taste? They must have changed this like they did with the puddings. It leaves a very bad after taste in your mouth...darn, I liked making Chicken/Veggie soup with it, but it's really hard to stomach now. YUK!!!
  • Fifties Lady - I don't know about changing it - but I can't stand it. It is way to strong to stomach as a soup base. Very frustrating as I was hoping to start making soup this time of year.
  • yep, pioneers park. now i'm REALLY nervous! :P

also, semi-good news at the doctor: i'm scheduled for a fasciotomy on my right leg to relieve pressure from CECS (chronic exertional compartment syndrome) on january 14, with the left leg to follow shortly after. soon i might be able to run like a normal person!
  • LaRee - Don't feel like the time was wasted. You went over Thanksgiving and didn't gain! Thats amazing. Most people in this country gain on that holiday. Good for you for thinking about what you ate and even without your HNS it sounds like you stayed on track to me. Keep your head up and settle back into the routine and you'll be just fine Keep checking in...we'll keep you encouraged.

Karen and CndLou - I have a copy of the "breastfeeding" menu. It looks official enough for me. It's a meta-balance menu instead of a meta-slim menu. If you want me to type it all out I will...its quite a bit different than a normal menu...well any that i've seen. I haven't seen the maintenance ones, I bet its closer to those.

You will do just fine. My daughter ran first string Cross-Country for 4 years and loved it. Pioneers was one of her favorite places to run. Always enjoyed the meets there.

Good luck with your fasciotomy....I bet you will be so thankful when it is over.

dkmd, Thanks for the tip for the sale on dietdirect. I just purchased 10 boxes of the concentrates for around $67.00, a savings from the typical $90 plus tax at my MRC center. I also bought the Proti hot cocoa jar on sale for $19.95, this is for 20 servings...I drink the hot cocoa nearly everyday with decafe instant coffee...I was looking for the vanilla wafers on dietdirect since they are labeled Proti on the golden wrappers I buy from MRC, no luck maybe dietdirect will carry them. I got free shipping, 10% off and no tax! Paid $107.00 for a whole bunch of protein drinks...I am hoping MRC won't notice

Good luck on your run! You'll do awesome! I've been away for a while and I'm just now getting caught up on everyone. Sorry to hear about your feet, but at the same time, I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and getting the help you need so your feet don't go numb anymore.

What run is it on Sunday out at Pioneers?
  • FiftiesLady

I may have some of the 'old' formula Chicken Boullion if you're interested. I think I might have the cream of chicken and some tomato as well. I bought them when I first started program back in May and thought I would cook more with that stuff, but ended up not using it. I'm in Lincoln so if you want it, I'd be happy to coordinate with you to get it. Shoot me a private message if you'd like.

I'm trying to get caught up on everything. Your ticker looks like you've made lots of progress. Congrats to you, it sure is challenging this time of year.

I am currently on maintenance and feel like i'm sky diving without a parachute, a little bit too much freedom. But MRC did give me all the tools I need in my pocket to be successful, I just have to remind myself of that.
  • Just Loved This Quote
As I have just started training for my first half marathon I found this on a website and wanted to share it, it has given me a lot of motivation when I am tired and it is too cold to go out and run!

"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

How did you get the 10% off? I just put 10 boxes in my cart, and it came to $79.90? Am I doing something wrong?

Has anyone tried the "Tropical Fruit"?

I am also interested when these go on sale. I'm trying to do 4-5 Hns a day so any help with bringing the cost down would be great.
    Thanks,
  • do you loose more if you do more than 3 hns a day??? I have been doing 3 a day but wondered if I did another 1 or 2 if it would make a difference.

thanks for the encouragement sunday's run is called the Holiday Run; it's a charity 5K sponsored by the Lincoln Running Co. and all the proceeds go to the Capital Humane Society, which i love. i'm pretty excited. if you're interested, there's still time to go down to LRC and register, it's only $10!

FL, i have some powder HNSes as well as some cream of chicken and chicken bouillon that i bought my very first week and haven't touched, so let me know if you want them! i just prefer the ease and simplicity of drinking the concentrates right out of the packet and haven't used any powders in months. or creamies, for that matter, so i have some lemon and chocolate pudding you could have, too. i just like my concentrates and my nutra-bars.

great quote!! i'll have to keep that in mind when i'm recovering from surgery and feeling like i'm starting from scratch all over again...
  • coupon codes
For those who order from dietdirect .... at the bottom where it asks for coupon codes, use the code saveme10 and it will take 10% off your order over 99 dollars. and shipping is free over 79 dollars.

When I still went to the center, they asked a couple of times why I wasn't buying HNS, but I just told them I was getting my HNS elsewhere --- showed them it was the identical product, and they left me alone about it. They did say the guarantee wasn't good if I didn't buy some, but the guarantee isn't good if you cheat either ..... so the guarantee is virtually a worthless piece of marketing anyway. Remember you are paying them .... and they are there to support you ... they are not your "boss", you are their "boss".

    Fifties Lady
The extra 10% is if you order $99.00 of merchandise, free shipping is at $79.00--they have fast shipping too.

I have tried tropical fruit and yes it is good; tastes like Hawaiian Fruit Punch

If anyone has got a recent dietdirect catalog, they are offering 15% off on orders over $99.00 until December 27. Catalog came during an organizing time for me, so I have my husband searching for it.
