Bahahahaha! Thx for the brocs! I just had a hard time eating all my chicken at lunch. Dry heaved a couple of times (gave my dog a couple bites of chicken I just couldn't get down). I wish I could try the vegetarian menu! We'll see what this week holds!

GWE....CONGRATULATIONS...50 pounds...how awesome that must feel. Everyone seems to be having good loses and the October has just begun. I am going to hope that this is my month too. I am going on a trip at the end of this month, and I so want to lose another 15 pounds before I leave. I am holding off on buying new clothes for the trip until the final week.

FL --

Where are you going on vacation? I'm 'saving myself' for early spring and heading for Vegas. I will have reached goal by then and will look and feel like a million bucks (okay, at least $1.75!).

By the way, I spotted your name on the board. Congrats!

You will look and feel like a million bucks...no doubt!!!

My sister and I are going on our first trip together without our hubbies to Virginia to visit a good friend of ours. We are just going for 4 days, but I am so looking forward to it. I would so much like to be down another size before leaving, so I have my fingers crossed. I will probably not stay on plan much because I want to enjoy and not worry about everything I put in my mouth.

I'm excited for you FL, that puts some fire under your October goal :0) I think its a good idea to wait until the week before to buy clothes... you may be very surprised by what size you're in then!

I forgot to tell all of you about my "evening out with the girls" in my beautiful new size 10 dress... pthhhh... it didn't happen. Unfortunately the plans were jumbled up, at the last minute some of the ladies (friends of my friends) wanted to bring husbands but didn't inform the rest of us (my 2 friends, LOL) who were using spouses as sitters and didn't have other last minute options and several of the ladies wanted to go to a few "bar" type facilities which was also not in the original plan. My hubby would have had a caniption (sp?) indeed and I mighta looked kinda funny in my fancy little dress so with all the confusion and disagreement my friend and I felt it best to just not go. I would have loved to have spouses come but we had already obligated ourselves to having a sleepover at our house that Fri Eve, with my husband supervising until I got home after dinner, so that plan was set in stone. Oh well, maybe next time. Hopefully, the hubby and I will be able to have a date night together soon before I shrink out of that pretty little black dress :0) We're so busy over the next few weeks but I think I'm going to try to sneak one in and plan it all for him as Lori suggested.

Speaking of Lori, where are you???

*sigh*... very slow office day... it has been raining cats and dogs all morning here in Savannah, GA and people just do not like to come out in the rain to see their MD/Surgeon.... *sigh* I bet the PCP's are hopping right now though with it being flu season.... needless to say I'm a little bored, hence the reason I am hovering on this site today ;)

Slow work days make for very long days it seems. Lorie went to Omaha for the weekend, can't remember when she will be back. Sorry to hear your night out didn't go as planned. Make sure you get a least one night in that cute lbd before it is too big!

I'm sure you are correct in saying the PCP's are busy, my nephew had the H1N1 a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to fair pretty well with it. I did hear that the vaccine is being sent out. Here it will go to healthworkers first. Are you going to get it? I got my regular flu shot Friday, hopefully that helps keep me healthy.

I've seen mention on here of "Restaurant Guides" that you can get from your center. Mine has never offered this. Am I remembering correctly that I saw this? Maybe I should ask next time I WI.

Leah, I'm sorry to hear that you're taking a hiatus, however, I certainly understand your reasons. Did you let the folks at the clinic know this so they can mark it on your chart?

Please keep in touch when you can and know that you're all in my thoughts!

they called today wondering why i'd been MIA :) i let them know what was going on and they let me put my plan on hold, which is nice.

things are really looking up with the FIL's health (is it cheating to call him my FIL if josh and i aren't married? hehe), though, so i'm feeling really encouraged. they determined that he had pneumonia that was caused by legionnaire's disease and are now using a more pinpointed antibiotic to treat him (i guess? i don't know much about these things, hehe). anyway, we're really hopeful. they even said maybe tomorrow we'd get to take the breathing tube out. woo!

anyway, hopefully things will quiet down soon and i'll get back on track. also daunting is the trip to mexico that i'm scheduled to take next week!! i can't even believe it's almost here already. i'm kind of discouraged because i had all kinds of plans for where i'd be at weight-wise by then and it definitely looks like that won't be the case, but i'll try to keep my head up and not go too crazy off-plan. eek.

So glad there is sign of good news for your FIL. That is uplifting to everyone I bet. I'm so glad MRC is working with you on this. You don't worry where you are with your weight when you go to Mexico....you just go and have a great time girl...you deserve it. I wanted to be down before my trip too, but it's not happening....so I will accept what it is and enjoy the trip. At least I will get to buy some new clothes that are a size smaller...that is enough to lift my self esteem.

Hello to All

I so enjoy reading all of your posts. It helps me know what to expect.
I have to admit, I thought I would lose faster at the start of this program.
I lost 2.5 on pre-conditioning, then 4.5 first week, then 2 the second week.
I'm following the program. Does the weight loss ever speed up?

I would like to loose 10 pounds in October..I'll make that my goal, but I'm not sure what else I can do that I'm not already doing to make that happen.

I am struggling with getting all of the vegetables down. I bought some of the vegetable powder to try and help with that. It looks strange. It smells iffy.
It tastes refreshing. I'm doing ok with everything else. I just want to get on with it.

Welcome RoadQueen, 9 lbs in 2 weeks ! I'd say that is pretty good! You have a good chance of losing 10 more pounds in October. Do not rush this TOO fast - after all, these pounds did not go on real quickly! I've only lost a little more than 30 all total and am struggling with the loose skin, flabby arms and belly. It will take time and exercise for the skin to "shrink up" to fit me again. I suggest you make sure you are drinking all the water and do some exercise if you can - those things will help. jeanette

I just heard about William Banting, an obese English undertaker, born in 1797, who went on a search to lose weight when he was in his late 50's.

In 1863, he wrote an Open Letter to promote his discoveries. His pamphlet is available to read at this website: http://elninotheband.com/allpics/Banting.pdf . He recounts all the exercises he was advised to do and how it just increased his appetite.

Eventually a Dr. William Harvey gave him a food plan which he followed and lost weight. On page 4 he lists what the diet recommended. On page 5 (middle paragraph) he lists what his previous diet had consisted of and what was the accepted diet of the mid 1800's. No wonder he became obese!

Skim on down - He charts his weight loss progress with dates - I think he would have really enjoyed our forum here and celebrated our weight losses. It was an interesting and fun document to peruse even if it was 150 years old or so. Never too late to learn!
