Default Missing the cream

I always used to put milk in my coffee or tea. Now, I can do the decaf coffee and tea, but it just doesn't taste the same without some cream. I love the MRC cappuccinos, but alas, I can only have one per day.
Any advice?

Try using the vanilla 'shakes'. the ready made HNS.
You won't use the whole thing so you can still drink a partial HNS later.

I need help myself.
I have tried to do MRC for the third time now.
I have a family of husband,2 kids 8&9 a 71 year old mom.
They all love to eat rich food.
I have to cook for them and it makes it hard on me to stay on plan.
I got so upset the other day I threw out my meal plan and pills.
After I cooled off I dug out pills but forgot my meal plan.
But I just can't seem to get it. My neice is doing this with me and she is successful. Lost 15 pounds I have lost 5 and gained it and lost it and gained it.
I need some idea of how you all are doing it so easy like.
I am ready to throw it all in. I am tired of being fat but tired of trying.

Please don't give up. You CAN do this. I, myself, at my heavest, was 316 lbs, and that's not EVEN including when I was pregnant. We won't ever go there! I did Weight Watchers and lost about 20 lbs and then stalled. It was too easy to eat a bunch of junk and still keep in my points range. The thing I've learned from doing this plan is you HAVE to taylor it to you. For example, no onions on the plan, but I LOVE onions and include them on my salad and when I grill veggies. Your family should be able to eat closely to this plan- it's very healthy. For example, last night I grilled some Lemon Rosemary chicken on the grill and some veggies like asparagus, onions, and squash. Mixed up some herbs and spices and it was delicious. Had to make some instant mashed potaoes for my 5 year old, but that didn't take but a minute. Get a george forman grill or an outside grill( I have both). I grill ALL the time. Look for "no sodium" canned green beans and spice them up. Basically, my meals look like this.
2 eggs, 1 toast for breakfast. I sometimes add sugar-free jam to the toast- just a smidgeon for extra flavor with a HNS

Lunch- grilled chicken or steak salad with fruit and HSN

Snack- 1 oz. of cheese ( keep it at work in refrigerator so I don't run out)

Dinner- grilled fish or chicken or hamburger. I put the hamburger open faced on a piece of toast. I cheat and add a "smidgen" of low fat mayo. Just a small smear to give it flavor. Salad, or veggies.

I ALWAYS have a creamy at night. Usually a Hot Chocolate. It's my relaxation thing for me. Helps me wind down. Gives me something to look forward to.

Main thing is, don't beat yourself up. Doing it 90 or 95 percent is better than the old eating ways we had in order to get ourselves here. Make a list for yourself as to why you want to lose and keep it with you to remind yourself why you are doing this. Plus, you will be teaching your children better eating habits that they can take with them. My 5 year old always chooses a sweet potatoe over frys when we eat out at Longhorn, and the fruit cup with his chicken at Chic Fil A. I'm very proud of that, but it's something I started when he was young, and it's his choice, but I hope I leading him in the right direction and he won't have to go through what I went through growing up heavy. I also would bet that if you start cooking healthier for your family, they will start eating it, or take the stance that you are cooking healthy and they can eat it, or they can cook for themselves!!Take it day by day, meal by meal. You CAN do this. It really isn't that hard. Spend some time in the spice isle and get lots of spice and herbs. They can make a HUGE difference. We are all here for you!!

I agree with Hawaii. You're the cook, so start making some changes. Just ease them into it. Start with a good low fat protein and spice it up. Add their side dishes, but really put the emphasis on the veggies. My husband would have never voluntarily ate veggies, but now he asks for grilled asparagus - a veggie he always hated. It's all in the spices! The cookbook will give you a good launching point. Then just modify your favorites to meet the MRC requirements. You CAN do this. I didn't even know how to cook, so you have an edge on me.

fattgirl - you can also put a teaspoon or two of the vanilla pudding mix. I just started using the vanilla flavored splenda which hits the spot for me. I got used to the color of the cream not being there, but the vanilla flavor is still there. They also have hazlenut & mocha flavored splenda. Most grocery stores carry it by the coffee & tea section.

Also, I found a really good cookbook called, Cooking with Flavor, by McCormicks. It's where I got the Lemon Rosemary Chicken recipe. It calls for olive oil, which I use and don't take the oil capsules, since I do cook with Olive Oil. I am working on learning how to use herbs and spices to really kick up the flavor of my foods, and it's making a world of diffence. I do substitute a little. For example, if it calls for Garlic Salt, I'll use garlic powder, just to keep the sodium to a minimum. There are lot's of Salt free spices out there now. When I first started, I was a little overwhelmed with what I couldn't have, but like I said, I've taylored it to me and have really become creative

Don't give up. I am in the same boat. I am on day 12 of the program. I lost like 7 lbs the first week and then have not only stalled, but gained a pound and a half! Part of me wants to give up but part of me wants to see if this is a TOM thing. One day at a time, one meal at a time.

Been there with the kids & family. It won't work for everybody, but ate before I cooked & fed my family. Not always, but for sure if I felt in any way that cooking for them would make me go off the deep end. I always cooked to have plenty of leftovers, so that way I could have quick meals for me (or them) when I needed to stay away from cooking. The kids can help prepare some of the food, or at least help put it away if that's a problem for you (picking after dinner was a huge problem for me). Give the extras to a dog if you have one. If there are some foods that just drive you nuts with them in the house, your family may just have to do without those for a while. Feed them the stuff that isn't likely to tempt you as much.

The KEY is to look at all the situations where you are tempted and figure out strategies to work around that. Those will be different for everybody. You can do it, you just have to identify the problem areas.

Hopefully they've told you that it's normal to stall after the first week - 10 days, and if you've hit TOM that's a double whammy. Hang in there - it'll start to come off again!

Since you're the cook - you control this. Change your mindset about how you're cooking. I know how hard it is for us women, but it's time to put yourself first & instead of "cooking for them", cook for yourself first - plan YOUR on-plan meal & then figure out what you can add to it for them. Feed them what you eat on plan, with the addition of a starchy side dish for them. It will be healthy & balanced. And let's face it - the rich food isn't really good them either. If they want the "rich" stuff, they can have it when they eat out. If they complain, explain to them that your health has to come first right now, that you're tired of spinning your wheels on your MRC plan because you've been catering to their wants - pitch a fit if you need to. If this is really important to you, make them realize HOW important it is, and why. You can do this!

This is so good!! I only use a couple tablespoons a morning so my center told me that i didn't really even have to count it!!
I also used the plain unflavored whey protien powder a couple times as my creamer it was better than nothing... Its good to mix the hot cocoa or the cappichunio into the coffee too..
