November Medifast Chat

Happy November MFers!

Heading into the Holidays now. This is going to be the real test of my resolve! How about you? Everybody will have bowls of leftover candy sitting out everywhere at work on Monday. Then the seasonal baking begins! A new temptation will await my senses everytime I walk into the break area! Pies, cakes, cookies, candies, donuts, BBQ, pizza and I have to get past the whole gauntlet to fix my Medifast oatmeal!

I WANT to do this! I CAN do this! and I WILL do this!

I'm going to need your help folks!

Good Morning Everyone, No candy in my house! 100% On Plan yesterday, Glad it's over!

Hope Everyone Had a Super On Plan Halloween!

Hi DJ! Hi Ruth!

DanLovesMedifast 11-01-2008 08:27 AM

DJ, you will love this. When I was waiting for my interview at my soon to be work, There were not one but TWO bowls of CANDY within reaching distance. All Chocolate. They have cup cakes, desserts, every day! LOL. I am looking forward to practicing my new health behaviors although I KNOW It will be hard at times. But I better get used to it, that crap isn't leaving the country anytime soon! LOL

djay 11-01-2008 09:53 AM

Good Morning Dan-I have one kind hearted soul who keeps a bowl filled with candy on the filing cabinet ,for everyone to grab a piece as they go by, all year round. I finally conquered that one...The holidays are100X worse! We can all do this...but we have to srick together!

Well you know that stall that was frustrating me earlier this week? Well...Yesterday I finally lost a pound...and today...I wake up 2.8 lbs. lighter! That's almost 4 lbs in 2 days! That Smoothe Moves tea is Magic! I give it my highest recomendation! Right up there with Medifast!

:broc::broc::broc:

missygith 11-01-2008 02:17 PM

happy Dia De la Muerta! Last night was soooooo fun! we had the MOST beautiful weather. I think the boys got about 5 pounds of candy! Ok, so for the next couple days, they boys can eat candy, after that, it will start disapearing (off to the food bank!)
I have got to do some kind of daily reward for being on program. Hmmmm, any thoughts? everyday, Ive been slipping up with sometning... peanuts, pumkin seeds, mummy dogs LOL little sneeks, but they are definatly slowing the loss. I dont have a problem with candy, thank God! But at the end of the day, I need to reasses and regroup, a hand full of peanuts stops weight loss. I keep thinking that its not junk and its not a lot so it wont matter but it has! so 100% OP now! and daily check in for helping keep on track.
We have a chuck e cheese bday party today! Fun fun!
XOXOXOXO Missy
(do you guys like my family theme halloween costumes?)

Halloween was a blast last night. Took the kids trick-o-treating. They were both dressed as dinasours. DD has been eating candy non-stop today (the rule is that she can eat as much as she wants today and tonite, puff, they disappear). I swear she's talking a mile-a-minute she's so high on that stuff. Luckily, DS doesn't "get" candy yet. I am proud to announce that I haven't touched any of it at all ... but I'm not going to let it sit around and tempt me for weeks either. Luckily, candy is not my weakness.

Anyway, gave myself some time off today and went to the music store and bought some guitar books. I'm really enjoying learning playing.

Still staying off that scale ... is it weird that I don't want to weigh myself? I'm a bit jealous of the tickers going down and want to go check, but I just hate that freaking thing. My DH said my face looked slimmer after his trip, so that's a good NSA.

Missy - the pic of Halloween looks awesome. The boys are so cute and you look great!!!

Dan and Djay - I don't envy you having to sit near a bowl of candy all day long. That would be HARD! At least, at home, I can toss the stuff out when the kids aren't looking LOL.

Djay - :carrot::carrot: on the almost 4 pounds - holy moly that's great!

DanLovesMedifast 11-01-2008 05:40 PM

DJ, so glad plateau is over! Woo Hoo!

Hi Missy, GREAT Photos!

itstime, very good practice for me, I am grateful for the opportunity to practice, I have to do this the rest of my life, may as well start practice now, but I agree at HOME, I practice Environmental Control for sure! NO crap in this house. Thanks!

OMG, are you kidding??? We didn't do Halloween this year, so no left over candy (yay!) but....

I START this diet TOMORROW. I wonder how I will actually HANDLE Thanksgiving? It's my FAVORITE holiday of the year -better than Xmas, better than New Years, Valentines, Memorial Day weekend, Labor day weekend... I LOVE THANKSGIVING. Not just the food, mind you! - but the family, friends, the smells.... I even like hearing the football on TV (in the background, of course! LOL!) I like the laziness of the day, and I get those two days off as holidays at work. Aaaaahhhh... NICE. LONG. WEEKEND. :D

I'm thinking I might just go ahead & resolve myself to go COMPLETELY off plan on that day & not worry about a thing. Then get right back on plan on Black Friday. That's what I've always done every year - whether I'm "dieting" or not. Some years I've been skinny, & some I've been fat. But Thanksgiving was always a great day.

Besides.... it's the ONE TIME A YEAR that I allow myself my FAVORITE treat in all the world.... PUMPKIN PIE. :^:

TwoBThinAgain 11-02-2008 11:42 AM

Hello Friends:),
I haven't been around for a few day & I missed you all. So many of us chatting here is so great. If I miss somebody to say Hello to, please forgive me.

Halloween was good, stayed on plan, no candy. Drove my son to a football game and decided to stay & watch the game with some other Mom's.
It was beautifull here in NY the last few days.

Missy-Is that you dressed up like Princess Leah??? Looking good!;)

Dan-I love the new photos, boy have you shrunck, amazing. Keep up the good work. When do you start the new job?

Djay-The breath of life is doing well so far with one pill only. I imagine after a little bit of time my body might need 2 a day. My sister does take 2 every day, she does one in the AM and one before bedtime. I'm so excited for you, about the veneers. That would be awesome. Keep us posted. Glad to hear your platteau took a hike.

BeachPatrol-Good luck on your first day tomorrow. Hang tough and be strong, you can do this. Be sure to drink your water throughout the day, this will help to give you a full fealing throughout the day.

Hugs to you all, gotta run, taking Mom to lunch, it's going to be grilled fish and a salad for me. It sounds so good to me, I can't believe it, I guess as long as I don't have to cook it, it's even better. LOL.:D

djay 11-02-2008 12:10 PM

Happy Sunday everyone!

Missy- The costumes turned out GREAT! Your boys are just so adorable anyway! Hope you all had a great time!

itstime- Congrats on making it through Halloween OP! Hope DD has come down from her sugar rush!

Beach- I'm so excited for you starting tomorrow. I remember how excited I was when I started after reading all the successes that others had. Wondering if it could really work like that for me? Stick to it exactly as written and I promis you will be celebrating next weekend!
I plan to go off plan for Thanksgiving. I started this plan with a goal in mind for my Thanksgiving/Vegas trip. I will be on vacation with my family. I will stay close to plan that week. But I know that I will not be able to avoid alcohol in Las Vegas! Especially when the sisters have our girls night out! So my plan for Vegas is to do as little damage as possible and get right back on plan when I return home. I have never intended to try to diet on Thanksgiving or Christmas day.

Susan- Enjoy your lunch with your mom! Sounds like you have a good plan going into it! Tell mom hi for me!

I'm off to find some curtains...I am getting bored with my livingroom...Something has got to change! Have a great OP day!

I am excited about the New Bars Coming out tomorrow. They will come in handy for my new JOB! LOL. For now I made three batches of chips and put in baggies so I can grab and eat on schedule, etc. I hope! LOL!

Gotta Love Medifast!

If anyone wants to stay on plan on Thanksgiving there are a ton of recipes on the Medifast Site under MMMMMM............Recipes.

I do plan to stay on plan myself. So if anyone else does, you won't be alone.

I just cannot imagine going through the first WEEK again! Oh, it was AWFUL! Maybe because I had so much weight to lose?????

Anyway, NOT going there again! LOL!

Have a Super Monday Everyone!

Back again

Hi group,

I haven't been around in quite a while but look forward to getting back on board and in the swing of things again. I hope everyone has a great week ahead.

jakebabe 11-02-2008 11:05 PM

Hello to everyone! Hope everyone had a good Halloween and restful weekend. Mine was busy but totally OP. I have been around food all weekend but it really did not even interest me! I weighed this morning and 2 more pounds gone since yesterday. I am firm in my plan to not waver over the holidays. I have never understood why it is all about food anyway so it should not be a problem for me to say no to all the "bad" things plus I do not want to go through getting all the sugar out of my body again. That is not a fun thing in my opinion. Being diabetic makes it double hard so no thanks!

Dan - best of luck on the first day of your new job. I am sure you will do well! Even though it is just temporary, remember most of the time you have to have a job to get one so maybe the phone will start ringing off the hook with prospective employers!

Missy - love the costume pic! You all look adorable.

djay - did you find some curtains that you liked? Also congrats on the scales moving again!

BeachPatrol - you will do just fine on you first day. Stay focused and remember every day it gets a little easier.

Hope we all have a great OP week even though we have to adjust to the new time and the announcement of a new president. :dizzy:

Happy Monday everyone!

I sure enjoyed that extra hour this morning! I did wake up an hour early...and it was so nice to slip right back to sleep guilt free!

Well this is a big Monday indeed!

Dan- Good luck on the first day on the job! :cp::woohoo::cp:

Beach-Good luck on the first day of changing your life :cp::woohoo::cp: Hang tough today! My first week was fine...but some people struggle in the first 3 or 4 days...just tough it out and remember how great it will be when you get through that part and no longer feel hungry or have cravings. We are all here to support you!

Jakebabe- I did find some curtains that I loved! Got the rod hung, only to discover that they didn't fit! Back to square one!

Jen-Welcome! Hope you will stick around and post often! Tell us a little about yourself.

Susan and Missy-Hope you have a great Monday also!

Nothing new to report here...just checking in...

TwoBThinAgain 11-03-2008 07:45 AM

Good Morning All...

:)Jacque-The food issue is a big one in my entire family. I was raised in an Italian family with lots of aunts, uncles, cousens, etc always around. No matter what the occasion, there was food. There didn't even have to be an occasion and there was food. The older generation showed love & warmth by offering to cook for you. We do get together on Sundays still & we have, you guessed it FOOD. It's a tough cycle to break & I am just now learning to not even look at it. It's how you are brought up & you know no better.
My husband came from a family where both his father & mother were only children & had no extended familty. They had no family gatherings which included food (in some ways no family gatherings is sad) but without the food factor, he has no issues with food and has no issues with his weight. I'm so glad that my son has the will of his father & no real sweet tooth to speak of because he looks at the stuff & walks away. It doesn't really appeal to him. Last night at my cousen Denise's house there was a large tray with many many pastries from an Italian bakery. That platter stared at me and then I said to myself, "Hmmm you know they don't even look that good."
Who was I kidding, I'm sure they were delicious but at least this morning I am not fealing guilty. So that's my food/family story....:dizzy:
Susan

:)BeachPatrol-Good luck today, you can do it. Give us an update later on how the day was & remember to drink water through out the day. It will help you to feel full.

abovethedin 11-03-2008 08:58 AM

DJay,

Thanks for the welcome! I've been apart of the forum before a few months back. I started MF last November at 243 and went down to 153 very quickly. I then went off plan for a few months and now I am back. You and I seem to have started at the same place and are now close to the same place. That's neat...it's like having a buddy.

Again, thanks for the welcome DJay.

Jen

AshleyA 11-03-2008 09:59 AM

I'm started OP!

Hi All ~ I started the plan today! Had a vanilla ready shake for BF which was good. I'm now drinking my water, trying to get to mid-morning snack (a little hungry- no biggee). I've got 2 soups for lunch and mid-aftn. snack. The water with the white grape-peach is great!

BeachPatrol- we're starting this together! I'm here for moral support and to commiserate! haha No, I'm excited really. I know it's going to work great! I'm looking forward to ordering those new bars and having those as an option!

Beach Patrol 11-03-2008 10:13 AM

:DHi All!

Dan - can't wait to hear how your 1st day on the job went!

thanks to everyone for your support...so far, so good (I think!)

Invited our freighbors Bruce & Michelle over last night for dinner... we cooked tilapia with long grain wild rice & black eye peas, & had cheesecake for dessert. Knowing I was going to start my MediFast today, I had TWO slices of cheesecake :chin:

So this morning, I felt ready. I had the Dutch Chocolate shake for breakfast. I found the taste pretty OK. Not great - but not yucky... so I'll keep that box. I just had an Oatmeal Raisin Bar for my 10:00 meal. YUMMY! :woohoo: Definitely like those!

Been drinking water - that's never been a problem for me. I usually drink around a 1/2 gallon or more per day.

For lunch I plan to have my lean & green meal (baked chicken & shrimp w/left over rice from last night) and I'll have a French Vanilla shake around 3pmish and a Chocolate Mint bar around 5pm, and then whatever bar or shake or "other" from the MF box around 7:30ish tonight.

I haven't told anyone at work or family or anyone (except my freighbor Michelle & my husband, of course) that I am doing the MediFast diet. I don't people's whack opinions about "how those diets never work" etc etc. My boss just said something about a friend of his that went on some "internet diet" & spent like $500/mo for 6 months & she didn't lose A SINGLE POUND... :p So I haven't mentioned it to my boss, & IN FACT I am thinking I will even HIDE it from him & co-workers. Not out of shame, just don't want to hear anybody's "whack opinions" especially when I'm first getting started. I just need good support right now! - Which is why I'm here!

Thanks y'all! (Oh, & y'all can call me Beachy.... everybody does!) :D

AshleyA 11-03-2008 10:56 AM

Hey Beachy-- I just had the lemon yogurt bar- outstanding! Now, I don't want to be the MF Police... lol... but you can't have that rice! Gotta be the greens/veg. The rice will put you over the top for carbs for the day.

Itstime 11-03-2008 12:03 PM

Woohoo, got my picture up finally!!!! The quality is pretty bad but that's what it took to make the file small enough. All is well on this front. The only trouble I'm having is that I'm really missing fruit. Since getting on the diet, I've had some (which is partly the reason for my slower loss, but I'm trying to keep things moving without losing my mind). But I haven't had any fruit for a little while and I really miss it. Other than that, on plan. Unfortunately, due to TOM, I feel so bloated and yucky, but I know it's just bloating and I just have to wait until it's gone. Planning a weigh in for next Sunday.

Ashley and BeachPatrol - Hooray on your first day :carrot::carrot:. Sounds like you are both right on track!

Missy - I'm right there with you .. can't wait for the election to be over. It's had it's good moments, but now I just want to KNOW!

Dan- Have fun on your first day at work.

Djay - congrats on pushing through that plateau - you are such an inspiration.

Jacque - I'm still undecided on what I'll do at Thanksgiving. I made myself a deal today that if I'm am 100% on plan until then, I'll give myself the night off (within reason). If I fall off the wagon before then, then I'm "punished" :D and have to stay on plan that night. I think it'll be really motivating to stick to plan for the next weeks.

Jen - Welcome (or rather, welcome back!). Your weight loss thus far is so impressive! Good for you for getting back on plan to finish the job.

missygith 11-03-2008 12:19 PM

Lisa, I am so impressed with your transformation! You've gone from a cute glasses wearing monkey looking thing to a beautiful woman!

Yep, I went off plan this weekend... lol so much for my rant on control! ;) My son asked me what I liked about candy and what I didnt like about candy. Well the answers were not bad. They were reasonable... Likes: candy usually is connected with laughter, happiness, endorphine release, fun times, children. Dislikes: being careful not to over do it, keeping teeth clean, too much is not good. Soooooo, I decieded to have fun with my sons at halloween! I did see the scale go back up to 192. Yikes, thats a bit! but i got candy! and Im done for a while... So, back 100% OP today, gotta keep this figure down:)

BTW this weekend was not a total loss. I bought 2 pairs of size 12's!!!!!!!!! two seperate brands!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! 12's!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I havent worn a 12 since high school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I had some talks this weekend. We're going to do a time frame. 6 months trial. He's done a little work to try and make everything work. but not a bit more than a little. Also, I just dont trust him anymore. that is paramount. We'll see. Im just trying to get clarity.

Good luck Beachy and Ashley! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man.... gotta go, take Tony to preschool (he wanted to see his name)

XOXOXOXO Missy

AshleyA 11-03-2008 12:49 PM

Missy- you looked grrrreat in that Halloween photo, btw!!

Chicken & Wild Rice soup... Good! I just seasoned it up with Mrs. Dash, pepper, and salt. And threw my snack in it- MF crackers. I'm impressed with the food products so far. I'm using the MyMF site too to track my meals and all that which helps.

I know... :^: .... but I didn't have anything else planned, so I had rice. At least it was just an itty-bitty-bit of rice. I don't even think it was a "full serving".

Oh well.... onward & upward!

I just had a vanilla shake. It was "ok". Not as good as the dutch chocolate, tho! - and I have been on the MF website, doing some reading, etc. and I brought a choc-mint bar to eat for my 4:00 meal...I had that yummy oatmeal/raisin bar this morning... and I am supposed to limit myself to 1 bar per day :o So .... another "uh-oh" on my 1st day!

...but I'll get the hang of it! And these two little whoopsies are definitely not going to detour me!

AshleyA 11-03-2008 02:34 PM

I didn't catch "the bar violation" earlier! lol It's a fine start- you'll still come in at a low calorie total for the day- which is a heck of a lot lower than I've been eating for the past... years?!

DanLovesMedifast 11-03-2008 04:06 PM

Thanks 2bethinagain! I am having a great day so far! Thought I would check in! Thank you so much for your support!

Awwww, Thanks Missy, I really appreciate that and I am so glad to be working too! Woo Hoo! Thank you again!

Dan-O

Beach Patrol 11-03-2008 04:15 PM

Nope...don't have one of those ....yet. I plan to be on MF for at least a week before I make any sort of "decisions"... if that makes sense! But I've been reading A LOT on the MF forums. Getting more info, etc.

Right now... it's time for my next "meal"... & not a minute too soon! Cause even tho I am not hungry, I DO have a headache. :( Which I understand is part of the process; I've read that the first 3-4 days are kinda rough & I might suffer from headaches or light headedness....

So yup, gotta headache. But that's why god made Execedrin! ;)

DanLovesMedifast 11-03-2008 04:42 PM

Jen, Welcome Back! Glad you are here!

Jacque, Thank you so much and I SO agree! Thanks again!

Thanks DJ!

Hi Ashley, Congrats on your first day ON PLAN! woo hoo!

thanks Beach Patrol, It's going GREAT! Love it here! Thanks again!

thanks Lisa, it's going great here!

ok, think i am caught up now.

Hope everyone has a super on plan night and i had a great On Plan day, avoiding all kinds of cakes, candy and goodies. I know it's worth staying on plan no matter what! Woo Hoo!

WE can do it!

AshleyA 11-03-2008 04:43 PM

Had the chili for mid-aftn. meal- really good! :hun: Maybe I had low expectations, but I am just pleasantly surprised with the food. I think I've got all my water in too- at least 48 oz. Need to measure this jug. Have you set up the "My Medifast" profile for you, Beachy? It's pretty cool and let's you track your calories/carbs, etc. on the daily meal plan you put in for yourself. It's on the Medifast website- I'm still figuring it all out... But I like it so far! :twirly: My dog's not going to like MF... he will not be getting any scraps or bites from me now! I've none to spare!

Hope you had a great first day on your new job, Dan! Your encouraging, upbeat words are great!

djay 11-03-2008 05:42 PM

Beachy and Ashley- Congratulations on working it so hard on your first day. It's cool that you started together and got to chat about it and encourage each other all day. It's inspiring to me to read about it and remember those early days!

Hope you first day finished out well Dan! Great job steering clear of all the goodies at the office!

Jen- Glad you are back! We really are at similar points in the process...I'm going to have to work really hard to try to catch up to you...and I'll make sure to make you work hard to stay ahead!

I had a health scare that turned into an NSV today!
The Walgreens accross the street from work just opened a walkin clinic for minor cases and it accepts insurance. I got into some poison oak over the weekend so I thought I would give it a try. While I was there they of course took my heart rate. The nurse practicioner became alarmed that it was so low! She said that I needed to contact my doctor TODAY to have it checked out.

I called the doctor when I got back to work and they worked me in this afternoon. My doctor hasn't seen me in 3 months, when I weighed 224 lbs! She was so happy that i had quit smoking, lost weigh and was working out that she hugged me! Then she got a good laught at the nurse practitioner that scared me into going to the doctor! She said my heart rate was so low because I am getting so healthy. Yea...even after just a couple of months of diet and excersise...I have the heartrate of an athlete!

WOW!

TwoBThinAgain 11-03-2008 05:55 PM

I just ordered the new bars, can't wait for them to get here. :carrot:

Lisa, Where on the East Coast are you?

DanLovesMedifast 11-03-2008 07:57 PM

Hi Everyone!

I just updated my ticker! I HAVE NOT lost 100 lbs. The ticker doesn't let you put exacts. I have .6 lbs to go before 100, so in the next week or so I WILL make 100 lbs. Just fyi.

I had a couple good weeks. 7.2 last week and 7 lbs. gone this week. 99.4 lbs in 19 weeks. Amazing how well medifast works. OF course, I have a LOT Of weight to lose.

Ok, enough of that, we all know Medifast Rocks! LOL!

I am excited about the new bars too.

Hope they are wonderful.

I will order soon.

Hope everyone is having a good night.

Dan-O

DanLovesMedifast 11-03-2008 07:59 PM

DJ, Woo HOO on NSV! Thank God!

djay 11-03-2008 08:10 PM

:woohoo:
WOW Dan! You might as well say 100 lbs.! That is so awsome! You should go out dancing! you would be so light on your feet! Congratulations!
:woohoo:

Beach Patrol 11-04-2008 09:45 AM

That's so cool DJ!!! - and way to go Dan! - being just .6 away from 100 IS 100 in my book! WTG!

So here I am on my 2nd day of MF. Yesterday was OK. I had my last MF meal when I got home (a shake) & was a little hungry a couple hours later, but I just kept drinking water & dealt with it!

For breakfast this morning I had the Apple-Cinnamon oatmeal. God does THAT suck! I mean YUCK-O!!!! Tasted like half mixed concrete. Bleh. So I tried dressing it up a bit with a "condiment" of cinnamon. Nope... didn't help. I put a "dash" of Equal on it. Nada. Still tasted like wet concrete. Ate it anyway. And thinking that's DEFINITELY one of the boxes I will trade in. :snooty: Otherwise, I pretty much like everything I've tried.

So it's 15 minutes til my next "meal" & I'm excited.... cause my tummy is a bit grumbly! - But really, I'm doing pretty good with the hunger. It's the headachy thing that's bothering me the most. But I know that'll clear up in a few days.... (I hope!)

jakebabe 11-04-2008 10:37 AM

Good morning everyone! Everyone has or is going to the polls today right? I drive by 3 on my way to work and they were all busier than I have ever seen them but I am glad people are getting out there. I will be going straight from work. I get off at 3:30 so I am hoping I will hit a lull and not have to be there all night! :crossed:

Beach Patrol - hang in there - everyday it gets a little easier and you will "tweak" the food thing to your liking. It takes a little while to find your niche and get settled in.

Dan - glad the first day went well for you at work. Ignore all that food that is around you - let someone else wear it on their thighs - not you!

djay - got those new curtains up yet? I looked for some of your tea yesterday and could not find any so I buy a gentle womens laxative. I have never had this "problem" in my life but I have it now.

Hope we all have a great OP day!

Jacque

Congratulations, Dan! That is incredible! :congrat: That's a 5 lb/week average- Just hearing that you lost 100 lbs. in just 19 weeks is ...WOW.

I woke up feeling thinner today! :encore: I'll wait till the Monday weekly weigh-in though.

It's unbelievable what you can create with these MF food packets, and with lean & green plus condiments! I really think I could stay OP for Tgiving if I wanted to, by whipping up these recipes. I'm going to order some of those Capella flavor drops. I am NOT excited about my oatmeal (apple-cinn.)... I don't even like oatmeal to begin with. I will probably use it to make one of these recipes. So far today, banana shake is good/ a little chalky but I liked it fine; carmel nut bar is excellent. Oh, the choc. pudding last night-- really good!
