missy- so here is the renaissance dress I ordered

http://www.brocadeplace.com/brocade/item.jsp?d_id=32

I am going to wear it WITH the sleeves.

I ordered petite but it is too big 0_0 and how many seamstresses will get it back to me by friday (not many)? Usually I like when things fit "too big" on me, but right now that is not the case 0_0

So I guess I am going to wing it and see what happens...

Day 3 and I am still having headaches and I feel really tired. I was gonna go to curves today but I just don't know that I am up to it. Last night I woke up drenched in sweat (eww) and I turned on the A/C. My poor boyfriend, bless his heart, just put on a sweater on top of his PJs and called me crazy.
Now I know what my mom is going through! I guess I will have menopause to look forward to someday, but not now, I am 23! 9_9. Boy does MF make me sweat!

My boyfriend has been great through all of my dieting and hasn't complained, even though I have left the poor man to fend for himself for dinner, as I am the type of cook who just can't help but sample what I am cooking :p. Hopefully I can find some way of making this transition easier on him.

I'm interested in some more info on Medifast. How is it compared to Weight Watchers price wise and how does the food taste. I read a couple of posts and would like to maybe try it out. Do they offer a trial.

Itstime 10-15-2008 03:44 PM

Dan - cool to see your face. I gotta find a pic of me and put it up. Gotta decide if to do "fat me" or "skinny me" pic.

lovediet - cool dress. I likes. It looks like it would be best worn fitted, so I'm sure you'll look fine. Though, I'm like you, I like my clothes loose (did even when I was skinny).

Twobethinagain: About Elton John, I like his music but weirdly enough have never gotten around to actually owning any of it. Maybe I'll add some of it to my collection cuz I'm getting bored of my stuff.

Well, after spending all day yesterday moping because of no loss on the scale yesterday morning, I woke up 1.5 pounds lighter this morning. Not sure why it would happen all overnight. Though I expected a lot more out of my first week, I'll take what I can. Down is always better than up. LOL. Also going to do some strength training later today ... I read through the whole Medifast Guide online during my bout of insomnia last night (a bit different than my Lifestyle Diet one) and see where I can make some improvements. Also, saw they said you only have to wait on the exercise if you haven't been doing it already. Woohooo! I love working out and have missed it this week.

lovediet 10-15-2008 04:21 PM

Itstime- Why not do a side by side comparison? That way you can see how far you've come and be inspired. :)

Dan- It is weird because when I click on your name to see your profile, the pic in the right hand corner doesn't look grainy. hmm...

TwoB- Oh my gosh you are too cute! :) Your doggies are therapy dogs? Is this a volunteer thing or is it your job? That is so cool!

choklateice- This depends on the package you get. Buying directly from Medifast, the 4-week variety pkg costs $299.50+ shipping. Sometimes you can find it $50-$100 cheaper on ebay, but be wary of who you buy from and make sure the things aren't expired. You don't have to get the 4-week package, though. If you just want to try the shakes to see how they taste, or get a couple weeks worth, you can order ala carte, but again it depends on what you get and how many as to how much it costs...

Weight Watchers is a whole different animal, because you are paying for membership and you often have to cook and buy the food yourself and stay in a points range, they don't send you food like medifast. Unless you mean the frozen dinners and other food items you can find in the grocery store, in which case I have found them usually around the range of about $3/meal.

lovediet 10-15-2008 04:31 PM

choklateice- Whoops, I guess I didn't TOTALLY answer your question. To finish, as far as I know they don't offer a trial but you can usually return items so long as only one of the packets is missing. Also, you can order ala carte just to try it out and see what things sound good.

As far as the taste, well, it is bearable. I wouldn't say it is OMG the absolutely most delish thing ever, but it isn't like you are choking it down, either. Besides, if it were irresistible, you would probably eat it in excess and that would defeat the purpose.

Anyway, some are better than others. I personally really like Dutch Chocolate and Cappuccino for the drinks and Chicken & Wild Rice for the soup, but everyone's tastes are different.

I haven't tried the oatmeal yet. I've heard a lot of bad things about it, but people often modify the recipe into cookies and muffins and stuff to make it work for them, I just haven't felt like cooking yet.

I would avoid the Tropical Punch. It is the only thing so far that I find hard to stand for more than a few sips. I think it tastes like a mix between chalky pepto bismol and cough syrup, (yuck,) but again, I could be the only one who thinks so...

missygith 10-15-2008 05:23 PM

Lovediet! that dress is awesome! Not a bad price neither. The wedding sounds like so much fun! Yay!

Hi Lovediet,
Yes, thats me in that picture, hopefully I will be able to post a better picture soon, maybe one with less cheeks. LOL

My dogs are Therapy Dogs and it is a volunteer thing I do. The dogs have to go through obedience school & then to classes for canine good citizen and therapy dog work. After the schooling is done they have to take a test to prove they are not bothered/upset by medical equipment, strange noises, etc.
A few times a month I go to local nursing homes with them and visit with the residents. It's both heartbreaking & rewarding at the same time. Here is a link to the dog school & some of the therapy events we have done. When you see the pictures I am in the last picture (group shot) on the left with my female Tori. http://caninepawzabilities.com/TherapyEvents.html

That was a visit we did last Nov & since then I have gained 40 lbs. YIKES

I will be there this Saturday & Monday with both dogs & 100 cupcakes I'm baking for the residents.

So how was your day today? I hope you are fealing a little better.
For me today was probably the hungriest day I have had since I started.
I had sugar free jello as a snack and it helped a little. The diet you were doing prior to MF were you eating foods with carbs & sugar? I was wondering if that could be the reason for the sweats & the withdrawal like symptoms you are having? That happened to me when I started Atkins the first time.
Anyways,,, I hope you are fealing better.
Susan

Woo! Got to change my signature. Lost 1.5 lbs. Not too shabby, since the last time I weighed was last Fri.

Anyway, I called and made an appointment with my general practitioner next week. I am going to have him draw my blood and check my blood sugar, who knows, it could be related to MF or it could be something entirely different. I am going to get tested for food allergies too, as that is what the nurse suggested.

The head nurse at baptist health clinic was concerned that I may not be getting enough calories and said that every body is different and I may just need to beef up my 1 meal a day or eat little portions like cheese and crackers every few hours in between. She also wanted to make sure I drank lots of water and said I may need more than the 64oz because I may be dehydrated. She didn't seem to think this should be a long term thing.

For now, I am still on MF, but I am exercising (which surprisingly, makes me feel better than when I wasn't,) and beefing up my lean and green with 2 small chicken breasts and 3/4 cup more salad, or eating a healthy small-portioned dinner alternative with a side salad and throwing in one carb thing a day, (like a whole wheat palm sized roll.)

Eating slightly more calories than recommended has helped immensely. I still have a really bad headache today (ugh) and I am still sweating, but my mental clarity is better and I don't shake really bad if I eat more.

So I am going to keep trying this until I see my Dr next week and see what he says. I am glad I am still losing weight

DanLovesMedifast 10-15-2008 08:22 PM

Hi Susan, I see one of you, but photo is kind of dark, I can barely see you?

Thanks Itstime! Let's see you smile!

lovediet, the one in my profile, won't let me make it my avatar, I wanted too but it said it was too big? oh well! lol

Hi Missy!!!!

DanLovesMedifast 10-15-2008 08:28 PM

choklateise, I love Medifast and I love the food! Well, not a huge fan of the Diabetic Strawberry Shake, but could tolerate it. lol.

It is a diet and it is diet food. So I went in with low expectations and a super positive attitude and it was also a last ditch effort. I was at the end of my rope. I think one of the best things I have EVER done in my life! The health benefits received in 16 weeks is utterly amazing! Not to mention, I am never hunger on plan and losing 85 lbs in 16 weeks, does NOT SUCK! "grin"

I think Medifast is cheap. Now, you have to understand, I am an over eater and besides eating a lot, I ate Crap, Fast food, Pizza, dining out, etc. So I was spending a TON of money!

Now I spend $70 a week or less and let me tell you that is nothing compareds to what "I" used to spend. That is for the medifast meals and I do prepare a Lean and Green meal every night at my own expense, which is NOT Much! If I spend $100. a week total I would be surprised but even if I did, given food prices at the grocery, that is still very CHEAP for me and with wonderful, no hunger results.

Medifast will refund your money for any unused products should you decide it's not for you, within 30 days I believe.

Feel free to fire away with questions.

I LOVE Medifast! It has saved and is saving my life, One Medifast Meal, One Day at a time!

Dan-O

Missy-Just how many DH's do you have?

Susan- What a fantastic thing to do with your free time! I bet your dog is awsome! And I'm sure a visit from those therapy dags make all the difference in quality of life for those folks! I have 2 little dogs. I can't imagine getting through some of the things that I have been through without them. And they aren't even therapy dogs! Also great to put a face with people! Cute picture.

Dan-Nice pictur1 You are a nice looking guy! What kind of work are you looking for?

lovediet-great dress! Hope the Doc can help you out! Congrats on the loss!

OK...I feel like a real bada$$ right about now! I have heard so much about Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred...I finally went and bought it today. I just finished the level 1 workout. That was TOUGH! But I stuck to it all the way through. I feel so strong! Of course that will undoubtedly change when I can't get out of bed tomorrow! :lol:I did have to modify some of the higher impact mooves because of my bum knee...but I really don't feel like I missed much!
