Hello to all!
Missy...congrats on making the commitment. is the tattoo for you or your dh? Gatorgirl....you mentioned duke a few times. is it a study or something? feeling a little frustrated earlier today. it is so much more fun to gain the weight than to take it off! I want it off NOW! don't we all feel that way? I feel better now because when I got dressed for work i noticed my scrubs feel so much more comfortable. i love that feeling!

Goodmorning Ladies,

Today is my first day on Medifast. Just had a lovely breakfast of yummy oatmeal (yuck). Going to have to try that in cookies or something!

Anyway, I'm excited to get started on a more sensible plan that I am sure will get me to my desired weight. I have really been looking forward to this! At the same time I am worried for the next week or so since I am transitioning from an even more restrictive diet right in the midst of my first plateau.

So I have 5 weeks worth of food. I have to admit I was a little worried when my monthly groceries arrived on my doorstep in a box not much bigger than 1 grocery bag lol...but I am commited and can't wait to try the rest of the foods. The oatmeal was a rocky start so I am hoping it is all downhill from here.

Have a skinny day,

D

Romans...yes, I am doing a study at Duke...MF for 8 weeks and then transition off to a pill that Pfizer is studying that is supposed to maintain weightloss. Tomorrow morning I have my final MF weigh in and then head on to phase 2. I will still stick around here for the support to lose more and maybe do MF on my own after the study is over.

Djay, too funny about seeing the Medifast box for the first time. I had the same exact reaction...this is a month's worth of food??? I'm usually a positive person, but every time I see the box arrive, I have this fairly morbid thought..."at least if there is a nuclear explosion tomorrow, I'll have enough food for a month...."

What can I say...I'm a product of the Cold War.

Today was my WI day and I'm finally down. 1lb. 1lb in 17 days. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe my feelings, although to be honest, I haven't done much exercise this week (too hot/too tired/too unmotivated/too lazy/blah, blah, blah).

I've had a series of appt's this week. Tuesday was the dentist appt from ****. I told the hygienist that if they used the ultrasound deep cleaning on me again, they would never see me again. OMG...so painful. Wednesday was an oil change and a lecture from the mechanic about the state of my tires. Today is the eye doctor and I know I will need a new prescription because my contacts/glasses are just so outdated. Tomorrow is the vet as Ann had 2 more seizures. Now I know why I'm teaching summer school...to buy the necessities that allow me to live comfortably.

Off to walk my landlord's pooch. Hope everyone is having a successful day.

Default New to the group

I sure wish I'd found this group 2 weeks ago!

I have been on MF for 10 days and I'm down 6 pounds.

I am loving the recipes here - with the cookie recipe - my oatmeal is yummy!

Welcome NC Realtor...congrats on the loss, keep up the good work

Well, summer is almost over...the kids go back to school on Moday (year round schools) and I am sooooo looking forward to it Since I won't have to fix them lunch I won't be tempted to grab a bite here and there and I can get out and start walking again. Hope everyone is having a great OP day, so far so good here

Today was 3 full weeks OP and I'm down 13 pounds! Screw the coach, I'll take it!!!!! Going away for the weekend to the Jersey Shore and called my hostess and told her about the program. She laughed - she's on Weight Watchers and her DH is on NutriSystem!!! I'll have to get my DH on some kind of program before tomorrow so he fits in!! I have my Ziploc bag all packed with the food I can eat - made the oatmeal muffins and they are great! I'm glad I found that recipe - I would have wasted that food because I sure as **** am never eating that oatmeal again by itself!! LOL

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Good day my beauties! Okay, so I weighed myself yesterday, as I do on wednesdays, and... (a little boo hoo) only 1 pound loss. But, I'll take it! Hey, any loss, right! I dont know if its because I ate the popcorn or maybe Im walking too much... Or maybe I should stop worrying. It just makes me want this all the more! YAY!
Jen, hooray for the breakthrough!!!!!!! Finally, Praise be! We'll be with you in spirit for the rest of the week. It sounds blah, be strong.
Welcome and way to go Realtor.
Gatrgrl, I am so envious about the year round school. Ive read so much on the benefits to children and their little minds.
Hey Djay, theres always a way to "tweek" these little annoyances, lots of recipes in the recipes thread. Someone said here once, right as I joined, that everything cant taste too yummy or we'd be tempted to eat it all at once!
The tattoo is for Me! This one is not in any weird or sexy place, I want bracelets. Mostly dark brown, henna designs. I do henna but I want permanent designs on my arms, and my then some matching work up on my shoulders with some outlined forms of a skunk and a fox. My ds#1 is a fox, sly and charming, my ds#2 is a skunk, cute and stinky!
be good girlies! have a wonderful day, its another opportunity to succeed!

HaHa Alice. You have found yet another advantage of Medifast! Also...in case of attack...we can easily carry many weeks worth of food and runfor the hills!

Does anyone else feel really sorry for nursejoan's husband...Poor guy thinks he is going on vacation. He is going to come back starved to death!

Missy, I like the tattoo ideas. Wish I had the nerve. I always called my girls my ladybugs so I have always wanted to get 2 ladybugs but could never decide where. I just don't have a part of my body that I like well enough to draw attention to it.

Well... my first Medifast day went well. After the oatmeal disaster, I actually liked the rest of the foods. Might have gone through them a little to fast because I wanted to see what the next thing was going to taste like. But I never got hungry! Today is starting out on the rocky side again. I decided to try the eggs. Again, not a fan! I will have to play with some recipes this weekend and find something edible for breakfast! What is with the yuck morning foods?

I have a question... For my L&G, I decided to do a turkey burger and grilled veggies. I grilled squash, mushrooms and a thick slice of red onion. I don't see onion listed under the veggies. Did I mess up? Is there some reason that we can't have grilled onion? I hope not because grilled mushrooms and onions is one of my favorite things even when I'm not on a diet!

Thanks,

D

Good morning chickadees!
Mirihawk, its good to see you, I've been thinking about you and missing your fun smile. (I love to see a face connected with a name.) Great to see the recommit!
Djay, you have the nerve, you just dont trust it. God gave you your body to enjoy, nourish, decorate, love, and enable. Do something fun with it!
We're off to the beach again! I love the beach! Even if its Edmonds beach and not the true ocean beach its still sand under my feet! Be awesome, ladies! With love, Missy

Hey everyone!

Djay - Yeah, red onions have quite a bit of sugar in them so they aren't allowed in the weight loss stage. I think you can have 1/4 of a cup or something like that as a condiment. You might check out the condiment options list to get an exact measurement. I have to admit, I cheated sometimes and had them anyway. Pico de gayo just isn't the same without red onions.

Missy - have fun at the beach! I'm completely jealous...sitting here in my cubicle writing code. I'd much rather be at the beach.

Miri!! Glad to see you back! We missed you!

NurseJoan - hehe! That's good that you've got other dieters with you. Makes it much easier not having to explain why you're not having dessert or only apparently eating one meal a day. Though, I agree with Missy, I do feel kind of sorry for your dh!

Realtor!! Congrats on the loss so far! Yeah, I didn't eat the oatmeal as is for a couple months and still don't really like it much. I have to doctor it up a bit with cinnamon and splenda.

I haven't seen Operator on here in a while...how are you doing?

Went for my weigh in at Duke today and was down 3 more lbs
Thankfully I do not give up MF completely, I will do 2-3 shakes a day and add in foods and not go over 1200 calories, incorporate more activity and take the med that they are testing to maintain the weight loss.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

hello lovely ladies! congrats to the losers! I have to agree with djay, the oatmeal is horrendous. not even splenda and cinnamon could get me anywhere near that stuff. i am a picky eater anyway, so when i ordered my food i ordered mostly shakes. only 1 box eggs (actually like these) 1 box pudding (ok) and 1 box chicken noodle (i like this too). i tried some of my friends oatmeal (she was trying to get rid of it too!). yuck!

anyone feeling out of energy? It's been 13 days for me and i feel so tired. any suggestions?

I'm with you on the oatmeal. I had luck with oatmeal cookies once but last night when I tried to make them, not good at all.

I even struggle with the shakes. I bought a lot of these because they sounded harmless and I can't quite get them. I've tried the shake cookies and I've seen the shake cake recipes. I am just not a shake fan. I can't tell if I have too much water or not enough. Too much ice or not enough.

When I am making a shake (not a recipe), I feel like it ends up too thin, so I'm adding just 6 oz of water rather than 8oz. But then it seems so gritty.

I have a lot of shakes and I am just not getting a consistency that I like. Any hints?

Thanks!
Shannon
