Just wanted to say hi to everyone- I am starting back to being more OP. Yesterday was better, and today I made a big pan of spinach frittata to eat for breakfasts this week on the run. Roasted a turkey breast and cut up some celery for my favorite Maries Blue Cheese Dip.

Ruth, how's that nose today? Do you have a black eye? Relax and take it easy while you heal.

Hi to everyone else- hope your wednesday is good, and things are getting back to a routine.

Here in NY we're still sad and we have varying degrees of depression and feeling disconnected from everyday things. You do the normal activities, but everything feels wrong. I'm still watching WAY too much TV.

Have a good one,
thanks again to all of you thinking about us here.

AdoAnnie- loved the card/mural from your kids to NY- that kind of project sets just the right tone, and is needed more than anything!

Default Here, Dottiejon Ma'am!

Drinking coffee and trying to get keen about the day as I am still feeling pretty sore still from that dumb fall. (No black eye but lots of nose and chin scrapes.) Got a cute card from my pals who were with me at the time - it said "Hear you've been grounded". very appropriate as I got a mouthful of earth and grass out of the deal. A hot bath is in my immediate future (running now) and then I will decide if I go to piano or not this a.m.

Hershey is still not eating corn like a human being. We shared a cob yesterday at noon. My side was nicely nibbled and her side had hunks of cob missing. She has jaws like a shark when it comes to food! This may be a lost cause. Such a silly distraction but it was fun!

DH is laughing at me lately. He claims I am acting like food rationing is imminent. I keep pickling and preserving like there is no tomorrow. The Christmas goodie baskets will be really full this year! The leaves have not even started to turn and I'm starting to nag about putting up the Christmas lights.

Have received several email addies to add to our list. This should be handy when the server switch happens. The switch should be transparent to us but there could be problems. This move will save some of the costs of this site which I love and would hate to lose.

Tub is ready - vanilla cream (low-fat, low-carb) bubbles! By the way, I do NOT wear my metal bra in the tub.

Good Morning Dottie and Ruth and all those to follow!

I just dropped of the wee one and her dad at their respective work/play places and what do I get to do today?--Laundry!! Life just doesn't seem fair, does it?

I am leaving tomorrow to go to my grandmother's house and then I'm heading to Montreal for the weekend. I won't be back here until Tuesday--a nice long visit with my friend and some rest and relaxation before the big Christmas push comes. I have already purchased one complete gift and two parts of other gifts for dh's side. Since they live in Korea, the latest I can get these things in the mail is the end of October. Yeah, I know it's really early but it takes 6-8 weeks to get there! To me it's like 2 Christmases--one for his family, and one for mine! Since we are lacking in the cash department these days due to emergency renovations (our woodstove), I've had to improvise on some gifts. I am making some beautiful fabric covered photo albums in a Christmas theme for my inlaws and for my sister-in-law. I have a Simplicity pattern for it (it's my neighbour's and she's the sewer!) so all I have to do is choose the fabric and the ribbons. There's no sewing involved, just a hot glu gun. I think it's a great way to save money. I am also going to get some small sample packs of maple sugar candy at the local chocolate factory here in town (I promise, no cheating and no sampling!) to include in the gift. I am also going to include some tea (they really like our herbal teas). Now my question is--do you think that's enough?

Ok, I've babbled enough--have a great OP day everyone!

Default Good Morning All!

Just posted my bio on the bio board.

I'm just dropping in to say "Good Morning" to everybody.

Going to check out the chatroom and see if anybody is there. *hint* *hint* *hint*

Didn't have any supper last night because we had a "See You at the Pole" rally and didn't get home until 10. So I am starving and fixing to have some breakfast.

Hope to get in a walk at the mall during my lunchhour. Anybody want to come?

Have a great day all!

Hugs, Cathy

Have been OP faithfully since Monday evening, cravings are going away, I hope to stay this way..it is a rainy day here in TN, but my flowers and grass need it so its ok.

Ruth I hope you get to feeling better...send some of that good food of yours my way!!

Dottie-my hat is still off to and all those working so hard in NYC and DC

Pooky-I would say have fun...but laundry?? no way is that fun!

Hi all!

Hope everyone is doing well. Having a good day cravings-wise today; the candy in the vending machine is not calling my name as loudly and incessentantly as usual.

Pooky - I think the gifts for your in-laws sound lovely.

Take care everyone!

Pooky I think the gifts sound wonderful. Just make sure you include a picture of your little one with the album. I'm thinking of doing some homemade stuff this year too. My daughter and I made lip gloss the other day that would be great for her friends and I've seen some other cool ideas too. Fun and cheap!

Ruth Did you count the carbs in the grass and dirt?

Has anyone heard from Peachie or Debkay? I haven't seen either of them posting too much and I miss 'em!

As for me, another OP day so far. Just went out to lunch with a great friend to a serve yourself salad place. I was fine, but there weren't too many good protein options to choose from. So I had shredded cheese on my salad and a bit of cottage cheese. My body seemed to need green stuff today. Tasted good! Question - (I'm being lazy I guess, I could look this up) is Jicama high in carbs? I had a tiny bit, but it tasted so sweet that I figured it probably wasn't a good choice so I left the rest. Does anyone know?

Ahhhh, I'm home and showered and the world is right again.
There was a funeral at our church and I am President of the Ladies Aid Society, so I had to bake a cake and go. The Ladies Aid serves the lunch afterwards. Then we get to do all the dishes. Since I use a cane to walk, I can't carry food or beverages, but I can do dishes. And I did! Oy vey!
Other than that, there is not much going on. Hubby wants me to drive down to Wisconsin Dells Friday morning as he works near there. He wants to take the afternoon off. He said that if it is too cold for the boat rides, we can shop around for a new vacuum cleaner and spend the night at a casino-hotel complex.
See you later and God bless!

Default Howdy!

Trying to get back to a bit of normalcy here since 9/11/01. Just a whole lot of roller coaster of emotions that I could not and still can not put into words. Coming here to this site has been meant a great deal!! love you guys even if you are not all YANKEE FANS!!!

Speaking of normalcy! I am glad to see that I am not the only one working on Christmas gifts!!! I have been doing my bit for the economy by investing in paint and wood. Two feet snowman and some stockings, and three and five foot trees! WHOOPIE! Do you know that there are tons of shades of red and green not to mention the different shades of white!!! OY! AND I can do all of the painting and keep my eye on the news (How come turn off your tv week never happens in September?)

Dh just took the little guy to the hospital...he and his brother were messing around and he hit the back of his head on an end table. Maybe he will need a stitch or two. Does anyone else have boys or even girls for that matter that are known so well in the hospital that the nurses say, "Hi! little guy" and "hi Mrs Pit"?

Ruth! glad you are on the mend...I hear that wine has wonderful healing properties....Jiff even said so!!!

Well chickies that is it for me have a good night!
