I am happily waiting for my contractor to arrive to start tearing out the old bathroom. Happy day!

Not much else going on...eating is starting to improve again after a week of not-too-good. A nice swiss omelet for breakfast, and I am off to the grocery store for some cold cuts that will travel well for tomorrow. we are off to take DMIL to hospital; this is about 10 hours in the car altogether, staying overnight til her surgery is over and then another drive back on Monday night. Packing sliced turkey, cheese, bagels for DH, and hb eggs.

That's it for now, hope everyone is having a good Saturday!

Is it a new week already?
Linda I am sorry you are having trouble with your finger.
Dotti, good luck with your mil and the bathroom.

Is anyone having trouble with pop ups amd spam in general? I have to go in and delete my cookies. I have run norton, and pest control an few others and the pop ups keep coming. They are slick out there. I did hit one yesterday by mistake as I was trying to click a link. The internet use to be fun, now it is almost as bad as the mail box.

not a lot on tap today, Cool wet day, DH and I are going to a dinner dance tonight and I have some friends coming for the day tomorrow.Gonna hang with the kids and see what they want to do.
hello to the reat of the chickies

Morning chickies..... how's the coffee? Dottie, good luck w/your bathroom guy. We just got an estimate on converting to gas heat from oil - would you believe (of COURSE you would!!) the 2nd guy never showed up until we called Keyspan to ask where he was?!?!?! guess which plumber does NOT get the job!

Yesterday was supposed to be a day off, but my boss called me for 2 shifts (thank heavens - the wallet was getting very light!!) and today will be very quiet - after work, dh must go into Brooklyn to a memorial for his cousin.
No plans here other than to watch the Subway Series this afternoon and all day/evening tomorrow!!! (that is, if it doesn't get rained out again!! )

L- enjoy the dinner dance. you're right about the pop-ups; I used to use Norton, but a couple of years ago I switched to McAfee - for me, it works better and I get a lot fewer popups, altho SOME still do get through. As far as the spam goes, I had to get a new email address since my old one was getting spoofed, but I have been using MSN spam filters and the difference is dramatic.

LindaBC, I hope your finger is feeling lots better.

Well, gonna go re-fill my - have a good day chickies.............

Pip! Stiff upper lip and all that but it frassing hurts a lot right now! Ibuprofen here I come!) Grumble, grumble....but still OP!

Oh, Ruth! It never rains but it pours. I'm so sorry you came acropper. DO see the doctor asap. I saw mine on Friday and he has put me on another round of oral antibiotics. Plus I have to have an x-ray and another blood test just in case the bone is infected.
Today has been a totally lost day for me. I had a miserable night with last night's dinner sitting like lead on my stomach (liver and onions). At about 5:30am it all came up and I haven't had much luck holding anything down all day. I've just been dozing in my recliner chair. I'm so tired of feeling sick and achy. I want to get back to normal, whatever that may be. I've forgotten.

Coffee is hot here DH bought a new pot and made it. i will not vouch how it tastes.

Today I will be headding towards six flags with the kids. I am so worried. i have six kids coming with me. four are smaller so it will be a tight fit but I have no other alternative. station wagon is over heating and my car well it is roomy and fits 6 nice. but thank goodness the boys are all smaller. so am I in for a day of FUN??? NOT but it is away from home and work. I need this day. I have sun screen and a bathinhg suit. I should be just fine. If I do not lose my mind first!!!

Welll ladies I must run too much to do before I raise the kids from the dead to head out. (Did I mention it will take about 3 hours to drive there???)

Think of me PLEASE

Sue, have fun. Are you going to Springfield or is there one closer to you?

Dinner dance was fun last night, the DJ was fun and as always the people are were fun too.

We are going to spend the day at the pool. We met some people in March when we went to Punta Cana. They live in Boston and are going to come spend the day with us.

I am a big audio book person. I have just finished Tuesday's with Morrie. It is required reading in many schools and I had never read it. i must say it was excellent and if you haven't read it/listened to it, it is excellent,

Ruth, i hope you are feeling better this morning. My MIL is a red hatter/mad hatter, I have not figured out which, but as you know there is nothing worse than ill manered dogs and there careless owners.

ok I need coffee,

Good morning all-

L, I didn't know you listened to books-on-tape! This is one of my lifesavers with my work commute. Being able to listen to books in the car changes 2+ hours a day of driving, to pleasure! I am listening to "The Number One Ladies Detective Agency" (something like that) and it's good. I find I listen to stuff I never get to othrwise, and also that I'll listen to things I wouldn't ordinarily try. I listened to "Seawolf" by Jack London which I never read, and enjoyed a lot read aloud. I'd love to hear what you've liked...

SUE! Six Flags on a Sunday in June and school is out; you are one brave woman! But, as you said, its out, away from home and work, and it is a beautiful day. Hope you come back and tell us how it was!

Linda, sorry you're sick. Maybe your stomach is upset from the antibiotics. I can't take them, I get nauseaus. My boss swears by acidophilous (pills or yogurt) while on antibiotics to fix up the good bacteria and help your stomach and digestive track. And you've been on them for 2 weeks or more, right? Well, hope you feel better soon. Rest up.

Ruth, rest the hand...I know, telling you to rest is like telling the sun not to come up! Even tho the rude doggie was there, I'll be it was fun... I checked out the redhats website, it was great. I love the idea of just dressing in a more FUN way, and having the mindset of the red hat! (even tho I am a "pink hatter" for 2 more years)

That's it for me. I'm happy 'cause my bathroom is stripped to the rafters...hooray! The work will continue on Tuesday. Today DH and I are driving to southern DE(5 hrs) to get MIL and bring her back up(2 hrs) to Wilmington, staying overnight til her surgery is over. We'll be home Monday night.

Ate great blueberry pancakes(I make Aunt Jemima Whole Wheat pancake mix for DH with oatmeal mixed in.) I take a scoop of his batter, mix it with a whole egg and make that into eggier higher protein less carb cakes. Cary's SF syrup. Not Atkins, but...

have a great day...hi Sono, isn't it beautiful out? How was your concert?

Good Sunday morning chickies ....
Dottie, you are soooo right, it is absolutely goregous here today. I, however, will not be outside enjoying it- our large screen TV is indoors and the Subway Series continues at 1:00: gotta be there! (GO METS.... got that, Peachie????? ) Oh yes, the Styx concert was absolutely fabulous - I must be getting old tho, my ears HURT until Friday - it was so loud that during the show I actually thought they might bleed - but they were as great as ever.

LindaBC - LIVER & ONIONS????? wow! You are the only person (other than ME!!!) who actually likes that! thank you thank you thank you... for years my family has been telling me that I am a freak!! At least now I have some company!!! Seriously, I hope your tummy gets back to normal soon - it sounds to me like the antibiotics, they frequently do that to me too!

Sue!! great to see you - you most certainly ARE a very brave woman! Hope you have a great time today.

Ruth...... people who have poorly behaved dogs should NOT be allowed out in public! I hope you are feeling so much better today, and will TRY not to overdo too much (notice I didn't even bother saying that you should rest and do nothing!! )

Welcome Jennifer - you need no invitation to jump right in and post here with us.... we are a very friendly bunch.

That's it for me....... enjoy the day everyone

Welcome Jennifer.

I have actually done very little today, just reading, resting and Advil. My biggest accomplishment has been finally getting into my bra! Harry is going to mix the dog food for me this afternoon so I don't need to feed "store-bought". I've hauled out one of my freezer meals so we're all set!

Hey! I like liver and onions too. I bet LindaBC does a great job on it too - I've eaten her cooking so I know. I hope the tummy settles soon, Linda.

OK, Sue. What is six flags? Do I want to go there? Did you know there are now 25,000 chapters of the Red Hat Society? We are "off our rockers"!

L144S, sounds like you have a good weekend ahead. So the Princess Bride is a Red Hatter. There goes the neighbourhood!

Dottie, nothing like a stripped bathroom. There is hope. (You don't have Kevin working on it, I hope!)

Time to "wake up" from my afternoon nap. We have dial-up and I sometimes connect just so the phone won't ring.

Dottie, I hope you get to read or listen to the other books in Alexander Smith's series. I just finished The Tears of the Giraffe and the Kalahari Typing School for Men. Totally delightful. I find myself wishing they wouldn't end.
I'm feeling better today but I have the sweats. I guess my system is getting rid of whatever bug attacked my tummy. This morning I went out and picked ripe blueberries the size of cherries from my two bushes. Yummy. Baked Peter a blueberry coffee cake. First time I've baked in over three weeks due to sore finger and the heat we've had.

Oops - the weekend got away from me and I read here but was running off constantly so never got a chance to post!

So your finger is doing better, Linda? No bone infection?

Ruth - Sorry about the wrist. Maybe it was 'Someone's' way of telling you to slow down. *ducking* Wow, you've got a pretty good aim with that right arm.

Sono - Glad you enjoyed the concert, even with the 'bleeding ears'. Hope you enjoyed the baseball today. We didn't have a tourney this weekend but there was a 4 hour practice today so I still got my baseball fix.

Welcome, Jennifer! 138! I would give my eye teeth to see that number again! Please jump in a join us - tell us about yourself!

Dottie - Sending prayers to your MIL. Have a safe trip.

L - How was the pool? What other fun stuff do you guys have planned?

Sue - Wow -six flags with six kids! You are BRAVE or just crazy! Just kidding - you are a great mom!

Ok - I better hit the hay. Full week planned.

Kel

Morning,
The pool was fine and I remember why I liked them! They left around 2, we stayed till 3 and I got too much sun.

The kids have camp today till noon. Our school runs an academic camp which ollder boy loves. Little man is going to do rock climbing. I am going to take the morning off and head down to REI. I like to look around and see what they have going on. I pick up the kids at noon, then off to the pool for the after noon.
For any of you that like audio books, go check out www.Audible.com

Linda, Glad you got to bake yesterday and the finger is better, keep taking whatever they are giving you.

Ruth, how are you doing today?

Kel, good to hear from you. what are your kids up to for the summer?

Morning dotti, I know you will be here soon....

off to get dressed and have some coffee.....
