  • Good Morning all you low carb chickies.

Whats shakin, get out of bed will yah Watcha all got planned for the weekend ?

Its raining here in Joisey so I'm suspecting where Ruthie is its raining also.

Oh well, we'll just have to stay in and play indoor games
  • 'Tis not, Leenie. It rained all day yesterday but today looks like a sun and cloud kind of day. Lots of snow melted yesterday and half the county's melt is in the dog yard it seems. The annual flood is three weeks early this year so it could be that this is spring. I wanna garden!

We have a Library trip in the plan today and then it'll be a walk, weather permitting, lunch at the Club and general goofing off for the afternoon.

Lucy is still not in heat! Grrrrr! I am still searching for doggie porn.

What's happening with the rest of us loyal low carbers?
  • "Morning Leenie and Ruth .. it's raining here on Long Island, too, Leens - but Ruth, you're welcome to the sunshine since you've still got snow on the ground! Plan for today: drink my coffee, read the newspaper, do client taxes...... WATCH THE METS GAME! ok, that's the whole big plan, but if dh finds out that I watched the game he's gonna be real po'd at me (I told him I have to work all day )

I hope all you chickies are doing better with those sickies that you're suffering from...... will check back later............

(Ruthie, good luck finding the doggie porn; I've been searching and haven't been able to find any that Lucy might enjoy )
  • Rain here in the bay state...
karate karate and more karate for us here. Older boy wants to go to the school play tonight...maybe.....
Having my coffee and have to get dressed soon....
have a good day.....ruth, i dare you to do a web search for doggie porn!
to leenie, sono and all to come.
    -L
  • I posted a "Calling All Low Carb Alumni" post over in WLS. I hope they pop in.

Seriously, I am too scared to do a search for doggie porn! The mind boggles at the filth that is out there on the net. I'd have to Chlorox my hard drive immediately!

Sun and cloud this morning and a bit cool - at freezing point but the mud is still liquid! Hersh and I will walk down for the paper before we go to the Library.
  • Nothing too exciting going on here. I've had a lazy day so far but I really should do something. Ho hum. It's been raining off and on all day and that makes me drowsy.
  • Any thing for Ruthie! I read you SOS int the WLS group, but it's been pretty quiet there lately. I do have to report that it's Sunny and Bright and a beautiful day in Dallas. I've been so busy at work the last few weeks that I haven't remembered to stop here and check in. I used to have extra time at work, but no more, and since I go to the health club every morning, I don't have time to sit and drink coffee with all of you.

I've been thrown out of two research studies, one because I was too short (they had a maximum BMI and I was over it, so it sounds better to say I was too short than to say I was too fat) the other one I was really excited about, but my Rheumotologist put me on some new meds for my Sjorgren Syndrome, and the sponsers of the research study kicked me out because of that. I offered to put off taking the med for the SS until the study was over, but no go, so now I'm back to square one. I think I do all the right things, I watch my carbs, I eat healthy, I exercise daily, but I still keep getting bigger and bigger. I've made an appointment with my PCP to see what suggestions she has, and to have it documented that I have been failing at attempted weight loss to give to the insurance company in case I ever make up my mind to have the WLS.

Talking about WLS, I must report that ole Alvin has broken every rule ever made in regard to his surgery. He lost about 125 pounds and has not lost any in over a year, (but he's not gaining any back, I guess that's a plus) but he has his own quirky way of eating, and if I say anything about it, he prickles up. But our life is so much better since his surgery it is unbelievable. He is back to playing golf again. He hasn't been able to do that in over 10 years. But I'm rambling here, sorry, hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

  • Hi all!! I have been having time on the pouter problems but I think I may have solved that it will be short visists for no more than a few minutes so I will read and quick post but life here is good. DH is DH again. kids are as usual PIA but that still has not changed.

I have lost 18 lbs since i started back in jan at my restart weight but not much in the last few weeks. It is OK I have been not the best and today I was really bad but I am here and ready to go. Ruth just turn on lassie or rin tin tin. that should do some thing if nothing then show home movies of the winchester dog show!!!

Have a great weekend all!! I have to do a over nighter as one of the nurses was found dead in her chair. she died trying to make a phone call, as the phone was off the hook. SHe had cardiac problmes but not that bad I had not heard but she did have breathig problems.

    Well catch you all later!!
  • Hi Ruthie, I also read your sos in wls thread. I lurk all over the board. Here in
the NY suburbs it started out rainy and very foggy. Sun peaked out for a while this afternoon.

I had hit rock bottom depression yesterday. ( I have major scale issues ) But I felt better when I woke up this morning and went to get my hair cut and colored. Went shorter w/layers. It's going to take some getting used to but I need a change. Spring is coming and I need to get excited.

dh is taking me to the movies. Either "Starsky & Hutch" or "Hildalgo" then we take our weekly 1am jaunt to Walmart.

Hope everyone has a good evening. I'll critique the movie tomorrow.

    ttyl
  • Oh, Sue, that is so horrible! I'm so sorry!

We went to see Starsky & Hutch last evening! Cute movie, altho, I think us 'oldies' who watched the original appreciated it more than the younger crowd.

Sunny and almost warm here this weekend. Got the Tahoe washed and then dried it at the high school to prevent spots then went and watched the last of Bry's baseball practice. Then I sprayed weeds and put all the soda cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles in big plastic bags to take to the recycle place (where they should give me a decent amount of $ since I've got a ton). I'll load all the bags up and make the trip next weekend.

I had a neighbor kid mow the HUGE, LONG backyard grass with his riding mower today. I feel good about that! We have a little gas push mower but it it quite a large job to do the backyard. SHstbx took the new riding mower and left us with 2 broken down ones. I need to decide if it is worth it to try and get one/both fixed (crap! I don't know about these things!), buy a new one or just pay the neighbor kid to do it.

Well, I better run and tackle the kitchen. Everyone have a great rest of the day.

  • Hi everybody! I haven't been here in so long. I try, but something always seems to happen. I'll try and post some good recipes this weekend. I have some yummy ones, but I don't have nutritional data on them yet. Maybe I'll just post as is.

Sue, that is awful about your co-worker. I always figured I go at my job too.

Kel, we've been thinking of getting a manual reel mower. Good exercise, no fumes, and I can listen to my walkman while I go. If only there were bee repellent!
  • Hi all!
Nice to see the old faces surface again....Donna, nice to meet you,
    Sue YIKES!!!
Jennifer, nice to see you too...
Kel, I think you have to decide what you have time for....

My in laws are in DH and FIL are going to the golf expo today, I hope my SHBIL goes too so I don't have to see them, Then then the kids can be together and I can too...if he is around we will have to go do something like bowling....
    -L
  • Well, bowling is good - might count as exercise, huh?

Beautiful morning out there today! I would LOVE to be out in it puttering around the yard but I have oodles of laundry and need to clean bathrooms (well, mine - kids will wipe down theirs), vacuum, etc. Melis has a friend from Florida that has been making his way here for the last week to move here. He will be staying with us for a week or so until he can get a job and rent a room. So I will have another 'son' to look after - just what I needed. No really, he is a nice kid and just needs a hand up to get started in life and I'm happy to do it. His mother would have been perfectly happy having him live at home, on his computer, buying him fast food for every meal. It was a very sad existance for him. I hope that our normal home life enteraction won't be too much of a shock for him.

Everyone have a nice Sunday. I'm going to hit the showers. OH! The Sopranos is on tonight - for those of you who follow the series. I know it's not for everyone but I got hooked a couple years ago.

    Kel
  • woo hoo the sun is out
    Hi all,

The sun is out, though they are predicting 1-3" of snow tomorrow. Its been in the 40's and 50's all wk so it should all melt.

I also went to see "Starsky & Hutch" .It was good. Not great, but had some really funny moments. See David Soul at the end really made me feel old. He looked horrible. Paul Michael Grasier looked better than David. He's been on "Third Watch" so I was prepared. I guess it happens to all of us

There is so much to do around the house and I just sit hear I look for any excuse not to clean. Dh is really good about it. (Let's just say he didn't marry me for my domestic qualities )

I had a really bad day friday and though I'm feeling much better I've been really slacking all weekend. Just can't seem to get going

Well hope everyone has a good nite. Any "soprano" fans out there. It's on tonight. Being italian and from NY I feel I must. Ya know what I mean....forgedaboudit........

    ttyl
  • LOL, DonnaD, you and I will get along just fine as when I'm on my deadbed I WON'T be saying "Gee, I should have dusted more......"! Housework is a neverending, thankless job. I make sure we don't live in squalor (sp?) but I've got better things to do with my time then making sure all the shower grout is mildew free and every dish is washed. People, family, dogs, LIFE is what life is about - NOT a clean kitchen floor!

And did ya read my post above yours? I've got a soft spot in my heart for 'Tony and the boys' too so I'll be watching.
