Brenda, as far as I've been able to discover, almond flour is simply ground almonds. You can buy blanched (peeled) almonds and grind them in a food processor. I usually buy mine already ground in the bulk food section of the supermarket. There are usually small bags of ready ground almonds in the baking supplied dept along with nuts and chocolate chips, etc but they cost more bought that way.
I have to agree with you about the hot chocolate made with plain cocoa. Even after nuking it a couple of minutes (and having it boil up all over the m.w.) it is still kind of gritty, but it works for me when I'm desperate.
