Good morning.

It promises to be a nice day here in SE Iowa. DH says it is supposed to turn cold tonight, though. Good. I love cold weather. The only thing I don't like about winter is ice.

Had a chuckle at work yesterday. It would seem that one of the biology teacher's inmates escaped. An Eastern Milk snake about 12 inches long and as big around as a pencil (according to the APB that was put out on it). Could it be that one of our 7th grade angels helped in the escape? Hm-m-m-m-m. I would bet money on it. The principal tried to make light of it in his memo to staff. He said that the snake had no known alias' or prior arrest record. He said that if we weren't afraid of snakes and found it, we could make a "citizen's arrest" As yet, the culprit has not been apprehended.

I can't wait to see what happens today. Never a dull moment.

To those in the path of Isabel, stay safe. To all: have a great day!

I love the snake story, Karla. I'm not afraid of snakes but do know most people would just freak. I've even handled a python in a zoo in Tunisia which freaked out my DH bigtime.

It's a gorgeous day here but we expect wind and about 20" of rain tomorrow so I am going to spend some time tidying up outdoors today. Not a FlyLady tidy - just stashing stuff away. I'll also move the cars out to the meadow in case trees fall. We've had that happen twice and I sure am not waiting for the third time!

I had an encounter with some chocolate last night (can you say emotional eater?) so am going to focus on clean food and lots of water today.

Have a great Thursday and I hope those in the path of Isobel are safe and sound. Please check in when you get a chance.

Eeeuw!! I would be headin' for the hills if there was a snake around. Or a mouse. Can't stand 'em both. I'd be calling the exterminator right away. YUCK!

Good Morning one and all

Have some stomach issues the last two days so eating has been patchy at best.

Way too busy with packing, sorting and getting ready for our fall garage sale, now being held on October 4th. Lots of stuff to get rid of since I'm not taking it all to Atlanta!

Off to drop-in with Miree, who is loving every minute of school and is very excited to be going!!

Have a great day everyone

Good Morning Everyone

Linda~ WTG!!!!! your doing so good, and Im proud of you!

Karla~ Im with the wimps, Id be very leary about opening desk drawers and such, I dont particularly like snakes, but I really hate opening something, and finding something else alive and wriggling around where it shouldnt be

Sue~ if you start BFL, watch out for that Jennifer, she's makin' sure we all wear matching undies for our before and after pics! Im coming near the end of week 2, and feeling pretty good. I have sore muscles, and Ive already dropped some inches from my waist, well, middle section (where I like to hide it all) So, dont be concerned about the pictures, you dont have to show anyone, which means you dont have to have matching undies Dont let the pictures stop you from doing something. Your very strong Sue!! You can do what ever you want!

Still op, and getting my exercise in. Its going good, but Im still having trouble with my carb intake. Its very hard after doing atkins for a year to suddenly eat potatoes, and rice. I have tried the nice new red potatoes, and promptly cut them from my diet. I had one for supper the other night, and about 2 hrs after eating, I was unbievably hungry!! The brown rice is ok, and Im cooking up some beans today, to make a delicious lemon bean soup. Hopefully this wont trigger any sugar like the potato did.

Ok, Im rambling, I better get productive

Have a great day all

When we were building our home her in lovely northern new jersey we had building stuff all over the place. Well outside in the front of my home we had pipes laying on the ground. Me and hubby are working along getting stuff done when he says to me, "hey hon, can you get that pipe over there for me?"

"oh sure dear, I'll get it for you right AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! "

Low and behold there was this HUGE BLEEPITY BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP snake laying right next to the pipe and I almost touched it. I guess the snake was eyeing it up for his next girlfriend, who knows but I surely wasn't gonna hang around to see.

Hubby come running over and says oh wait !!!! He runs to our soon to be new neighbors and says "hey, did you guys lose a snake?" they say YES, its our pet....... OY OY OY !!!!

MEN !!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !

I have no particular problem with reptiles or little rodents. My daughter has pet mice and a guinea pig. I remember playing with garter snakes when I was a kid. Even found one and picked it up to show my daughter last summer. Not sure how I'd feel if there was one of the poisonous variety slithering around, but in general they don't give me the creeps. However, don't even get me started on those little 8-legged crawly creatures!

I'm curious. What is BFL? Do they make you take a picture of yourself in undies? Do other people see it? AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. I'm generally of the opinion that no one knows I'm fat because of cover it with clothes!

I'm fasting this morning because I'm going to the doctor for a complete physical. I'm curious to see how my cholesterol is. My sister just had hers checked and it was higher. She's been eating more protein and few carbs she says, so she's concerned about me. I sure hope it's not a problem. I love finally being able to lose weight. How has everyone elses experience been on this score?

Peach pit - I'm in Keokuk, about 4 hours from Galena.

Still no sign of the snake. I did find out (to my utter delight) that the principal is, let us say, uncomfortable around long slithery things. What a hoot! I hope he doesn't encounter the little slitherer.

Morning Chickies,

With school now in full swing I am MIA more than I'd like. On the bright side, L and I have been dragging our butts to the gym every morning (Friday is our day off for a coffee klatch with a bunch of school moms). I have even added 10-20 minutes on the elliptic trainer before I do the treadmill - definitely getting my heart rate up there. My WL had a pause as my system readjusted to exercise and I lost inches but not pounds. However, I am down today and have officially hit 40 pounds gone - hurray!!

We have hamsters so rodents aren't a problem. I don't *mind* snakes but I'm not sure I'd want a blind date with one

Ruth - my thoughts are with you, hang in there!

All you BFL'ers WTG.

I love the comment that people don't think I'm fat because I cover it with clothes! That just made my day, and if I had to take pictures in my undies, the photo developer would probably quit his job!!!!! Some things need to stay secret!

Hope you're all having a lovely day, it's more of the same for me. DD is supposed to visit with her dad tonight, nerves are shot. He doesn't make things easy, let's put it that way. The stomach is still giving me fits, wonder why? It's never boring around here.

Stay OP and stay strong, girls, talk to you soon!

Beautiful day here in the Midwest - I could take this weather all year. Hope the hurricane doesn't wreck too much havoc for everyone. Keep us updated. My son is in Augusta Georgia which I don't believe is in the path, but I'm sure they will feel some of the effects of it.

Bad news - the cookie monster got me - actually my daugher made some lo-sugar cookies last night - she sub'd Splenda for 1/2 the sugar. I ate 3 of them but I was down a pound today - go figure. Other than that staying OP - heading over to update my food log. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday - Friday tomorrow Anyone have any special plans for the weekend?

Karla - I'll be right over - I actually like snakes Keep us updated on the convict!!! I use to have two ball python snakes for pets.

Pooky - I hate getting ready for garage sales too, that's on my agenda for tonight - we are having it next weekend, so I have a little time. I have moved, so I have things I don't need anymore that I'm going to try and get rid of. Now that I don't own a house, I'm selling my mower and extension ladder.

Jen - BFL I believe is Body For Life. Let us know how your cholesterol is - did you have it checked before lo-carbing?

Kim - I'm jealous - good going - keep up the good work. Blind date with one - how about being married to one???? It lasted 2 1/2 years . . .

The wind is picking up pretty good here. We are expected 60-75 mph winds in my area. Wind gusts have been reported at 55 mph so far. I live across the James River from the Virginia Beach and Norfolk areas. A lot of my coworkers live over there. I was out digging a trench in backyard and behind fence as I already had a few inches of water collected in my back yard. For these tasks I wish I were still married or at least had a male roommate. Haha! I'll just count it as strength training. I got a good 45 minutes in. While I was in the inside of my fence a wind gust blew a large tree down on my neighbors shed behind my house. I had just been between our fences about 5 minutes prior. We'll probably lose power soon. It has flickered 3 times already. Most of the adjacent county has reported power loss already. Good luck to all of you. Stay safe if you're in the path of Isabel. I need to let the dogs out to relieve themselves before it starts raining any harder or gets any windier. Oh I did lose the last of the 4 pounds that I had put back on today.

Good afternoon everyone. Another sick day, I don't believe I've ever taken 2 in a row my whole life but it is making a difference, feeling better faster with all the rest.

I swear, if I didn't have a digital camera I would so not be taking underwear pictures, heck even with one it's not in gitch. I do think that the pictures are invaluable, I have 3 sets so far, start, 1 and 2 month. It's incredible to see the difference, highly recommend it.

LOL love the snake comments, I love those dare things, my problem lies with centipedes, I hate all those little legs, ugh. Otherwise, I'm the insect slayer in our house.

SIL is in from Vanderhoof BC this weekend, haven't seen her in 4 years so that will be fun, hopefully, the throwing up will stop so I can actually enjoy the festivities. This is going to be the first time seeing someone after a huge chunk of the weight is gone but the funny thing is last time I saw her I only weighed about 10lbs more than I do now!

Still having trouble eating, and muscles are very sore to the touch right now, and losing weigh really fast again, seems the high protien soups are't cutting it anymore. Darn adaptable body. Hit 183 today, down 4.5lbs in nearly 3 days. DF is running out for some protien shakes in a bit so I can stop shaking and gain some of this darn muscle back or at least keep from losing more. So I'm going to be wading into the stalling effects of Atkins shakes but I'm looking forward to it.

Hope all of you that are feeling under the weather feel better soon. And those of you battling the hurricane, stay safe. Good to hear that it is not going to be as fierce as first thought.
