Hi you guys, Hope your doing ok. I've been pretty busy and still trying to figure out which diet plan I want to follow. I'm going to start something on Friday, which is when I can get groceries again. Boy, I hate having no money.
Today, I decided to start washing the windows and getting the house ready for winter. One room at a time, that way it won't be such a big deal. These windows are so old, they are like some kind of Chinese puzzle to try to get them to fit back together again. I hope next year, we can get some new ones in here.
The weather is still really hot, over 96, hard to think about putting plastic up over the windows yet, but before we know it, it will be that time of year again.
I went to Walmart and found a really large pot on clearance. Filled it with soil and I"m going to try to grow a tomato plant indoors for winter. I started the seeds yesterday. It should have a good month or two that it can be outside and get going. I'm dreaming of a fresh tomato for Christmas.
Well, take care, Nikki
nikki, I know what you're going through with no money. DH & I are self employed and we've had hardly any work for months. Thankfully I'm able to charge my groceries each week. I do most of my groceries at Super Walmart and their prices are very reasonable. It really is hot where you are. It's in the the high 70's to low 80's here and it's so nice. Good luck with your indoor tomato plants. Let me know how it works out. Hope you have that fresh tomato at Christmas. Did you take the seeds out of your tomatoes or did you buy some seeds? Our tomatoes aren't doing very well. Next year we're thinking of putting some Miracle-Gro in the soil. You'll figure out what plan you want to do. Maybe you could just make up a low carb plan yourself, something that you can live with.
Good Morning Everyone:
I accidently posted on the last week thread yesterday!!!! I don't
know how I missed this one!!
Hope you are both well. I am sitting at my desk anticipating
seeing again .
I will hopefully be booking a few days off in October and
December. Our 25th wedding anniversary is coming up in
October! How time flys........
This will be David's first full week at school. We are hoping
all goes well.
Nikkic, I know what the money situation is like......read my post
from yesterday to see what we spend on groceries each
week Shocking.
Aleka, our weather is hot too. I am looking forward to cool
crisp days.....my favorite.
I got up this morning at four. Did my body flex and 20 minutes
on the gazelle. I don't know how much truth there is to this
but I here first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is
best.
Good morning,
Anne, I saw you post yesterday. The amount you spend on groceries is a large amount, but for that many people, you must be shopping very wisely. I use to spend that much on just 4 people. Of course, I use to make 4 times more than I do now. I don't have any idea what I spent all that money on, I have nothing to show for it. Must have been expensive food, that sure shows I wish I was married to the same guy for that long. DH and I are always saying how different our lives would have been if we'd met a long time ago. But then, we wouldn't be the same people, so maybe we wouldn't appreciate each other as much. We were both a lot different when we were younger and probably would have hated each other.
Aleka, hope your business picks up soon. How long have you guys had your own business? I don't remember, what is it?
I weighed this morning and I now weigh more than I have all year. Almost what I did on Jan 1st, 234 lbs. I decided I better start the BF now and worry about the diet later. Besides, I can always just eat less and make better choices, even when I'm not following a plan. So, I did the BF this morning. Anne, Greer says an empty stomach is best as your blood that carries the oxygen is then free to go to the muscles your working on, rather than also trying to worry about digesting food. In the afternoon, she says to wait 2 hours after you've eaten to do it. Anyway, I sure can tell I haven't done any exercise in awhile. I'm also going to get on the Gazelle in a little bit.
Yesterday, I started to wash the windows. I did the kitchen then moved the ladder against the house under the dining room window to start that today. Last night at 2am, I went to the kitchen to get a drink and there look like a head moving outside my diningroom window (it's still in the 90's during the day, but really cool at night, so I have my windows open and shades up). I got pretty scared, but marched over there to ask him what in the **** he was doing. When I got to the window, it was my cat, Patches sitting on top of the ladder That sure woke me up for awhile!
I'm going to start painting the garage today. Got to get the caulking done first and probably really paint tomorrow. Man, it sure does feel good to feel like myself again. I feel alive again.
Hi Everyone:
Nikkic, don't worry about your weight. It goes on fast and comes
off fast. Once you are gazelling and body flexing you won't know
yourself.
My weight moves like a turtle. That is why I am determined to
get on this gazelle and boast my metabolic rate. I wanted to
be below 200 by Christmas and I am now 210. I honestly
have my doubts no matter how hard I work if I can get that
11 pounds off to get me to 199 by Dec 25. At one time I use to be able to lose the weight with ease. Not any more. Mind you, I look much better now that I have added body flex. I'm keeping right on truckin with low carbs and exercise. Fabulous at 50, thats my motto
Talk to you later.
Anne.
Anne, your such a sweetie. I feel pretty rotten about this weight gain, but I know it will come off. I was right where you are now a month ago. Now look at me, can't say the words I'd like to, they are for sailors. Still, maybe I can get below 200 by Christmas too. I know you will. Today, I did pretty good with my eating. At least I didn't go buy a dozen Krispy Kremes for breakfast
Tomorrow, Dr Phils new book about weight loss comes out. Great timing for me. I need a good kick in the pants. Talk to you tomorrow, Nikki
A little while ago we had part of a dead tree come down at the end of our driveway. So, DH got out his chain saw and cut down the rest of the tree. We've been outside cleaning up the driveway and the road where the tree came down. When he cut the tree down he disturbed a bat that was asleep. What a rude awakening. He just hopped off and flew into the woods across the street from us. That was one job we weren't planning on doing today. It was funny because I pointed out that very same tree to DH yesterday and we were talking about taking it down sometime. I guess the decision was made for us.
nikki, I'm with ANNE, please don't worry about your weight gain. It will come off again. I have come to believe that whatever eating plan you decide to do, ask yourself if you can eat that way for the rest of your life. I bought this cookbook, Cooking Thin with Chef Kathleen, by Kathleen Daelemans. She is a chef that lost quite a lot of weight. She really gives you some good sound advice. She also has a show on Food Network. That was a good start today not buying Krispy Kremes. DH & I have our own machine shop in our garage. We've been doing this 18 yrs. We've had lean years and we've had fantastic years. It goes in cycles I guess. Things have picked up a little...and I mean a little. At least it's work.
ANNE, weighing 210 now you really do have a good chance to be below 200 by Christmas. You are doing fantastic!! As you age the weight comes off a lot slower. When I was in my 20's I could lose 2 lbs. a week without much effort, now I'm lucky to lose 1 lb. a week with a lot of effort.
It's time for me to get supper. Thankfully it's leftovers so all I have to do is reheat.
Good Morning All!
I feel pretty good this am, I did my body flex and my gazelle
and it sure makes a difference in how I feel to start my day
Aleka, I sure hope I can get below the 200 by year end, problem
is in September My son Danny has a birthday on the 19th my
husband has a birthday on the 29th, October 10 is my mother's
birthday, October 13 is Thanksgiving, October 20 is Sean and
David's birthday, October 28 is my 25th anniversary, can you
guys believe it!!!!!Oh well, I will just keep on keeping on. You
are so right about the older you become the harder it gets
Nikkic, I enjoy listening to Dr. Phil too. Especially in regards to
the subject of weight. Did you here Sars is back in Singapore I couldn't beleive my ears this morning
ANNE, you do have a lot of celebrations in the next couple of months. I keep forgetting that Canada has their Thanksgiving in Oct., where our's is in Nov. That's amazing your DH's birthday is Sept. 29th. That is my DH's birthday too! My late mother's birthday was Oct. 8th.
nikki, let us know when you get Dr. Phil's book on weight loss. There is a thread in the General Diet forum on this website, about Dr. Phil. There is a post on the thread that says when he's going to be on TV with his new diet book. How did the garage painting go?
Have to get ready for my walk. Now that the weather is cooler I have to wait until it warms up a bit.
Good morning,
I did the BF this morning and really noticed how much better I feel when I do it. I was thinking about how my sinuses (sounds gross) were opening up and then I got to thinking about how my face was feeling warm and flushed. I really started to feel my whole body wake up after that and thought how this must be delivering oxygen to every cell and getting everything going for the day. My abs actually feel tighter already.
Yesterday, I cleaned the outside of the garage, pulled away the weeds and got rid of cobwebs. Today, the real painting begins, but I want to wash the living room windows first.
Anne, I didn't hear about the SARS in Singapore. I'm not surprised. I saw on the news that they think it was started by wild animals that were captured and sold as food. Haven't people always done that? I don't think they have any idea what causes it and where it came from or the opposite may be true-they know exactly where it came from and don't want us to know.
Aleka, I have seen Cooking Thin on the Food Channel. I agree, she does have a healthy approach to eating.
It's a good thing that tree came down now rather than in the middle of winter. I hate doing that kind of thing when it's below zero and the wind is practically ripping your clothes off. Oh the the thought of winter
Got to get busy, take care, Nikki
I just came a'calling in here because I wondered what this thread was all about. I see some of you do the Body Flex routine. I just started doing it today and I'm wondering if any of you have heard any major success stories about it. I found it quite invigorating even though I have trouble with the crossing the legs. I just did some extra waist twists when Greer was doing those. I'll get there one of these days.
Good morning everyone,
LindaBC, Anne is our resident Body Flex success person, so she can tell you her story. Personally, I think it's great, but I've not been able to say that my weight loss or inch lose is directly related to this, since I was also doing many other forms of exercise at the time. I'm just starting back after taking a month off, so guess we are starting together on this one. Are you doing the older version, where she gets on the floor or the new one, where she is sitting down? If it's the old one on the floor, I can't cross my legs like she does, but I do it as close as possible and also twist my body so that I'm looking backward (this is what she does on the new tape where she is sitting down). I'll never be able to get my legs to fold over like that, but I figure something close is ok.
Well, another day of wonderful, very dry weather. They say we may get some rain by Friday. This will probably happen now that I'm washing windows and painting outside.
Tomorrow, I'm taking DD #2 to the dentist to have all her wisdom teeth removed. She was going to just drive herself, but I convinced her that wasn't a good idea. She is so independent. I tried to get her to let me pay for it, but she refuses. She has no money and her insurance doesn't cover much of it. I admire her for her wanting to make her own way, but sometimes, I wish she'd let me help her. I'm lucky, I know, some kids just expect it all the time.
I had to order Dr. Phils book on line. I bet they won't get it here in town till around Christmas. Talk to you all tomorrow, take care, Nikki
Hi everyone:
Nikkic, don't even say the word dentist Do you know I
had several root canals done the crown of my tooth broke
off and I am walking around in terror with roots only for a
couple of my teeth (3 to be exact). I am such a chicken
I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was 18 and it went
well.
Hello Linda from B.C. I am Anne from T.O. I love body flex
I have had great results and have been doing it for the last
5-6 weeks. The pretzel is not my fav either. I will post later
with my total inch loss since I started. I have never had any
exercise do as much for me as this one. My clothes are just
hanging.
Hi Aleka, how are you? Its beautiful here today. I went to
the farmers market at the city hall and bought some beautiful
peaches and beans
It was rather chilly here this morning. DH walked down to our mailbox at the end of the street and he said you could see your breath. They were talking about frost in some areas.
Just heard on the weather that we may see remnants of Henri sometime this weekend. It's still a long way away.
Linda, I don't do BF. I do have the tapes, but for one reason or another haven't done them. Good luck with BF
nikki, good luck to your D with her wisdom teeth. I had all mine out when I was in my 20's. Three were impacted and one had already emerged. Will she have novacaine (sp?) or will they put her out. It's a good thing you will be driving her. You are lucky to have a D who wants to stand on her own.
ANNE, we had a gorgeous day here too. It was nice and sunny and in the 70's. Had some windows open, but late afternoon had to go around and shut them all because it was starting to get chilly.
Nikkic, I have the newer version, I guess, because she does everything sitting on a chair.
Anne, I'd be interested in reading your stats since you've been on BF. Not that I'd expect to do as well. We all lose at our own speed but it's exciting to hear of a "real person's" success with the program.
It certainly was no big thrill for me to take my measurements but I'm hopeful that they will soon shrink.
