Good Morning! Just getting my first cup of unleaded in for the day. I've been up since 4:30, but hadn't had any coffee yet. It's really foggy this morning. I love foggy days. It's like having a big fluffy white blanky wrapped around your world.

I have a wedding to go to this weekend so won't be near my 'puter for a few days. (withdrawl!!!) Everyone have a great day and a great weekend!

That was a short week! I'm now in full September mode and have lists all over the place. I've not started to worry about Christmas for a while - I usually wait until Canadian Thanksgiving.

As some of you know, I am on the South Beach Diet and am posting over there too. So if I goof and make unintelligible posts or screw up on merging posts, please forgive me. I'm old and suffer from CRAFT. I am doing the lowest possible carbs on the SBD plan and know a heck of a lot about Atkins and the other plans so will continue to post in here. Kick me out if you like.

I am off to Ottawa for dim sum with two friends from this site. I imagine the three of us will not be strictly OP at lunch tomorrow but I'll try to make up for it later. I promise!

Today is laundry and odds and ends day to get ready for the weekend. This is my last "free" weekend as Canine Good Citizen classes start the 14th and I am doing registration for the Terry Fox run and the International Plowing Match and an Antique Motorcycle Rally on weekends this month. I think I'll relax during the week instead! Retirement is tiring but I love doing things that seem more worthwhile than supervising a group of tempramental analysts and programmers!

I hope everyone has an excellent OP TGIF!

Tippurr, have fun this weekend. I love the fog too - as long as I don't have to drive in it!

Good morning and TGIF to everyone! Got on the scale this morning and it hasn't budged from last week. Oh well. It may have something to do with the salty sausage that I ate last night and I didn't get enough water down yesterday either. I'm still OP and still trying to get some exercise in. I guess my motivation should be not seeing the scale move!

I love fog too Karla. I also love rain and thunderstorms. We've had quite a few thunderstorms this week. But our weekend is going to be cooler and sunny. Looks like some yard work may be in order. That along with the normal wash, groceries, cleaning and running. Will the madness ever end???

Well, at least I will have good weather for all of it. Ruth, your weekend plans make me tired just reading about them!! At least you enjoy what you're doing

Have a great day!

I didnt really have anything to say, but I did need to answer Ruth's post.

Well today is a non-planned day off, worked till about 1am so at least I could take the day to get some rest.

But as all days off, chalked full of stuff to do, DF has a million things lined up already and I still haven't finished breakfast. So off to the bank and shopping and who knows what else.

Have some good news though, today was weigh in day and drum roll please.... 189, YAY!! Only 44lbs to go and weight goal #2 done. So now the beginning of weight goal #3, 179. I guess all that talking to the scale paid off yesterday!

So the weekend begins well and no Ruth you're not allowed to leave us, it is simply not permitted The moving threads are fun, it's like musical chairs!

Default OP today

Hi.
I'm new to low carbs, but I wanted to join in the daily post if I may. Today I'm right on target so far. I didn't get up and excersize this morning, but maybe my DD and I will go ice-skating tonight. I'm not very good at it, but I'm getting a little better each time I go. I can usually go around the rink a couple of times without touching the wall now.

I haven't been able to give up my coffee, but I found a way to drink it and not feel guilty. I only have 2 cups of drip coffee, but instead of putting in chocolate flavored creamer (high carb, high fat, no real nutrition) I put in a bit of Atkins Chocolate Royale shake. It probably sounds funky, but it's low carb and there's actually protein in it. Now my coffee is almost healthy! Better than a triple mocha every morning or 3-4 cups with creamer and sugar.

Do you post on the weekends too? I sure hope so.

and yes. we DO post on the weekends. this is a very gabby bunch of chicks, even though some of us <hanging head in shame> are not very regular posters around here.

What a mess of a day...

My brother and sister (who both live under my roof) also work where I work. Heck, I got them their jobs here. I've been letting my sister do the driving.

My brother called me up just after they left for lunch. Both of them, together with another person here at work, were at the mall down on the River Walk. In the parking garage. With the keys locked in the car. With the engine running.

ARGGH!

My sister had my keys. My mother had the only other set (yeah yeah, we need more spares..my sister gets to buy them after this incident). My mother was out shopping, with no cell phone. After 45 minutes, we finally track her down, and I get the person I was going to lunch with to drop by, pick up the keys (we were heading that route anyway), and get them to my sister.

My sister now gets to top off the gas, get spare door keys made, and if I can get my way, pay for new ignition keys so we have another full set. These are coded keys, so we're talking $75 a set. It's about time she grows up and takes some responsibility.

Okay, now that I've blown off that steam...

A gal at work had some ice cream bars that were labeled as low carbs. Someone else on Atkins said they were around 4 carbs. Great, I though, so I gladly accepted one she offered. After I ate it, I looked back at the pack. Total carbs 14 g, sugar 4 g, sugar alcohols 2g. Blech. No wonder it tasted so good...it was net 12g! If there was enough glycerin or the like to count out towards net carbs, I'm sure it would have listed it (given that it listed the sugar alcohols).

Oh well. I still did okay for the day, but it sure got my attention.

Darn scale just won't budge for me but that's what I get for climbing on it before WI day.
Ruth, I think you should quit all those other things you've got going and just spend 24 a day posting right here. We just wuvs you that much.
I went for my swim this morning but our usual pool is closed for maintenance this month so we had to go to the old pool. Not as spacious and definitely not as nice but we still managed to get in an hour of motion. Then a lovely bacon and egg brekkie.

Hot, hot, HOT here. No rain for 2 months and water restrictions mean that my garden is really struggling. Now the so-called experts are telling us we should replace all our rain loving plants with drought tolerant plants. Well, that's fine for July and August but what happens the other 9 months of the year when it pours non-stop? Those desert plants just can't cut it here.

More peaches to take care of today but I think I'll make it easy on myself and slice and freeze them for pies and upside down cake (forget I said that ) BAD BAD!!! Yesterday my kitchen was like a sauna after canning 7 quarts of them. Oh well, one of these days it's going to start raining and not quit and I'll remember why I don't have A/C. LOL

Brad, that has happened to me a couple of times. Locked keys in car with motor running. DUH! I think we sometimes get distracted. In my case, I'd parked beside a vehicle that had its motor running so didn't realise that mine still was too. Smart to have an extra set stuck under a bumper or something for just such an emergency.

Evening all! Not only did I make it through the week, DH is taking the kids camping this week! Woo Hoo!!

It is a school wide trip so those of us kidless for the weekend are planning dinner and a movie or some other fun outing. A bunch of us got together today for our weekly coffee and caught up on each other's summer news.

Did a good job of staying OP today, L and I snuck lunch into the movie theater and caught a matinee before going to pick up the kids. Almost TOM so I'm sure the scales won't move much in the next few days. C'est la vie...

Brad, there's nothing like consequences to learn life lessons so at least your sister should get *something* positive out of the experience
