O.K. I have a friend that has went from a size 16 to a 6 and now after about 6 months of sticking to this she has notice a lot of hair loss. I told her I would post here and she if there was any advice for her.... Help!!!

Tell her to get her thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism can do that, as well as some other medical conditions.

Also severe vitamin deficiency can do this...did she follow a balanced diet? Does she take vitamins? How are her nails?

I don't think her diet was too balanced...she was just trying to lose as much weight as she could fast...and it's almost too much now, but that's just my opinion. She takes vitamins but I don't know what... and she always has short nails and they are always painted so I don't know.

have her take bigger doses of vits. she needs more. I hadthe same problem but when i really started to take good vits and mag and calcium and fish oil all that stopped.

Okay, now that's 4 people I know of who are doing low carb and experiencing hair loss - makes me really nervous. I mentioned this to the person behind the counter at a nutrition store where I buy the odd Atkins product and they suggested silica pills. I don't know how much knowledge you need to work behind the counter, but I bought some anyway.
