Hi Everybody--I too tried several times to get on this morning and wondered if the site was down or if my old computer was giving me fits!
It's another hot one here in IL--about 90 with 90 percent humidity. I went out and set the sprinklers to the lawn again and gave my flowers a drink. I know some of you are having too much rain--maybe we can work something out.
I did my Body Flex workout this morning--tomorrow is my day to measure my one week success. Clothes feel looser in spots, but I am thinking that I will not be one of the "poster girls" for the product like some other people have been. This is my day two of South Beach diet. Yesterday went really well except for one small glitch--a small glass of dry white wine for dinner with my grilled chicken salad--what can I say-it was calling to me. Everything else went really well though. More cleaning was on the agenda for me today--then tonight another basketball game. DS's team won by more than 30 last night--his coach still B****ed them out--don't get me started on that topic--anyway so goodnews/badnews--they play again tonight. I am grilling ground sirloin burgers as we speak so that we can warm them up for supper when we come home from the game. Otherwise we would have to stop at Subway or Pizza Hut--not too South Beach.

Pooky, good luck with those carpets and thanks for the good wishes for DS--they seem to have paid off!

Hello to you Jif and everyone yet to come---
Hope the board is busier today--I miss everyone!

PS Happy Canada Day to all of my north of the border friends

Wow! Finally up again! I was in very early and several times during the morning to put up a Happy Canada Day post but no luck. Thanks for starting us up, Jiff. We will make you an honourary Canadian. (How many butter tarts can you eat when washed down with MolsonX? )

I spent part of the morning chasing schoolwork and dispensing ride tickets and then gardened until lunch. More to do but the end is in sight at last. That's the end of the planting - I still need to weed perennial beds and cut back stuff. I am so happy to be able to do it after last summer's disaster. (I was in tears many times over not being able to finish jobs out there.)

South Beach diet starts tomorrow so today is my last chance to have a pralines 'n cream cone. I was hoping to be in ONEderland today but am still 203. I hope SBD shakes things up - or down - off anyhow! At least I weigh about 13-15 pounds less than last Canada Day so I'm heading in the right direction!

I feel like a nap but will settle for some chaise time later on. For now, it's back out to the garden to hoe the cucumber patch.

Happy Tuesday.

Oh Canadians! Happy Canadian Day!!!!

Dh's last day of work was yesterday and so far today he has only gotten on my nerves for a brief moment. He's made up for it by taking the kids to the water park. I took a nap with the cat. The cat is great and even dh kind of likes her. I saw him giving her turkey scraps from the table and we are now on the third 30 day trial period for her. This cat must have nerves of steel. Even when the kids come off their meds and are swinging from the chandalier (like I have one?) she is hanging around. Then at night she cuddles with them and tucks them into bed before finally settling down in my room.

Is cat talk boring?

I did take mom to shop for socks and underwear for the boys.

Is that boring?

Well, AdoAnnie, I am counting on you to get me through the next couple of weeks. My ten year old starts football camp on Sunday. I guess the amount of laundry I will be doing is about to be multiplied by how much?

sigh

ruth.. thanks for the honour!!!!! at least english-speaking canada knows how to make a decent cup of tea, a completely unknown art in the US...

as for the number of butter tarts washed down with molsonx: the answer is ZERO and that's because i can't have beer [carbonation, ya know]. but i figure i'd be good for at least ONE butter tart. and what's in them, anyway???? any hope of raspberry preserves???

just taking a break... will try to be back. i really and truly do have a lot to say, just no time to say it!!!!

Hi all spent the day learning computer stuff. FUN FUN FUN!!! I love doing that kind of stuff.

Jiff if you let the beer go flat then you can drink it (EEEWWWW) those butter tarts do sound great though!!!

Peach I have a cat like that now but he is male and is starting to spray!! Time to make it an IT!!!

ruth you are too busy for retirement!

Annie I can not wait to hear how the body flex is going!! Poster child or not it is movement which is more that I am doing now. I am starting to look at the SBD when i have some down time from work and house. to do some research. I love PP but I need some shaking up!! and not with shakes!!!

cat talk, never boring!
kid talk, always cute!

so, hi all, nice to see everyone. It is nice to be able to be on the computer in the middle of the week, I am off doing house stuff... and on my breaks have been checking in more often. I think it is helping my diet,. too!

we are sooo tired from painting and DH is working evenings this week as well, so he's tired from that as well. I am doing more house-stuff, but who's counting ME! He is in his own world, mostly worrying about how he'll move his workout equiptment to the new house. He doesn't fully grasp that in 4 days every table, chair, towel, pot, pan and toothbrush has to be moved. but what about my free weights? he says. I have to take apart my lat pull-down machine. he says. Where should I put my bench/stepping machine/bike? he says.
I have an idea where to put them, I say. But I don't say it.

well, off to a quick shower before bed...lots to do tomorrow.

hi Jiff, Peach, Sue, Ruth, Judomom, annie, pooky! see you tomorrow!

I can't believe Jiff doesn't know what's in a Butter Tart. I thought everybody knew Butter Tarts. Are they a Canadian thing? Anyhow, Jiff, they are regular pie crust tart shells filled with a mixture of butter, brown sugar, syrup, vanilla and raisins or dried currents and baked. The filling is nice and gooey and sweet, sorta like pecan pie filling.
I'm on my last binge day before getting back on South Beach. I feel so bloated and dozy so it really is time. I'm just not sure I can face all those eggs for breakfast. I'm really turned off by eggs lately.
Got my hair shorn today. Short and a bit spiky but no color or streaks this time. No perm left either. Should be fairly easy care.
Not much else new or exciting here other than a few cloudbursts with heavy rain but it's nice and sunny now.
