Starting us up. I've been up since 5 but the doggage are still snoozing. It's pouring rain - dammit! - so it will be another muddy paw day. So much for Gail's clean kitchen floor!
I can't garden today in this weather and my house is clean and tidy. Even the laundry is done! I see an afternoon nap in my future.
I stuck to WW points yesterday - it sure is hard to combine with low-carb! Fish and chicken are going to be my staples, I guess with only low GI carbs like berries and whole grain bread. It sounds a lot like the South Beach Diet, doesn't it? Anyhow, my BGL is staying down (4.8 today) and that's my main focus right now.
I hear lots of talk about the South Beach Diet, I think I need to check it out. I do a very modified low-carb........worth looking into.
I finally kick started the weight loss last week. Another wls patient and I have started a Mall walking program......we have so much fun and before you know it we have walked 3 miles.
Yep, it's raining outside too Ruth and I didn't get a chance to get into the perennial bed yesterday for all the wind! My friend the plumber came over last night to fix my faucet and told me tha there are several old trees downtown that have fallen over due to the wind. Gee, what a mess that will be to clean up!
So on this rainy morning I am heading over to the drop-in and attending a parent education workshop. Topic for today is "Caring for the Caregiver", in other words, how do we take care of ourselves when dealing with the little ones. For me it's easy--dh gets her and I barracade myself in the bedroom!
Deb, so glad you found a walking buddy, nice to have a friendly chat and a good walk, sounds like a perfect match to me!
So nice to see so many newbies posting! Welcome to the forum!
Wow, sorry the weather is so soggy for you ladies. It looks like it will be a lovely day here. Sun is shining and we're expected to get to 75 - perfect! Hopefully I'll get the twins out for a nice long walk this afternoon. Court this morning for me - have to take the kids to the drop-in daycare for a couple hours. I wish I'd invented those things!
Anyway, I'm in my 3rd week of low carbing and I've lost somewhere between 5 and 10 lbs (I couldn't bring myself to weigh myself when I started.) But I bought a scale yesterday and I'm at 195. Last time I was weighed was a year ago and I was in the 205 range.
It sure is hard to do this with kids around. They're eating honey grahams and bananas for breakfast (oh to much down on a bowl of cereal right now!) But I spent much of last night dreaming about all the things I'm going to do when I'm in better shape - buy a new bathing suit???? hahaha!
Off to take Molly the dog to the vet for teeth cleaning and then off to play golf. it is cool and i just found my winter gloves so they will go with me!
KFS is safely in paradice all by herself and I am really wishing I went with her!
I had a wonderful visit with my niece this weekend and can't wait to see her again! Ahh babies are cute, but I do love that I could give her back Being an Auntie is really cool!
Good going on the levels Ruth, on step at a time. pooky and Deb, and all to come.
and welcome to all the new folks its great to see new ppl here.
Jenny, Im sorry your feeling so down, but things will get better, give someone you care about a call. (lets hope they are home lol)
Deb, yaaaa! on your walking buddy!! Good for you!
Yesterday was a wet and soggy day, and perfect for going to the movies. Hubby took me to see X-men-2. Man, I just love the scenes with wolverine and no shirt Love them muscles!! Anyway, I dont remember the guys name but he's the teleporter. The designs on his face and body are done by the same guy that designed and did hubby's tattoos. We even waited til the end of the movie to watch the credits to find his name....and we did!! It was pretty thrilling to see it. (doesnt take much to amuse us )
Off to the shop today, Ive got heaps and heaps of drift wood, and I might just have to start a chair today....Im really looking forward to it....now if only someone would buy the ones I already have. Well, no sense worrying about it, summers coming, and Ive got lots of plans. Hopefully they will work
I have so much to do--and uyet here I sit--what is wrong with me? Oh well, it'll still be there when I get to it
DonDar-Cheer up Chickie--hows that for a fill-in Shrink?? Just come here and vent away-it may help!
amhlawyer -- I live in Ohio too--although you are pretty far away from me~ you drive 75 miles--one way???? What a woman!
DebKay--I need my walking buddy back! I had one last year-now she works to late for us to go walking--waaaaa!!! It really is a good idea! It keeps you motivated--WTG!
Pooky and Ruth--just think--all this rain will make your gardens nice in soft and easy to weed...right??
A quick hello from Houston. And, of course, as soon as I come aboard here comes DH pulling up into the driveway! Drat! And he has immediately started **tching that I'm on the puter instead of doing "real work"! Jenny, maybe we should ship both of ours over to a some country where men take their orders from women!!!
Nice to see so many new "faces". Welcome-Welcome!
I'm still healing tho slowly. And altho it's been six weeks I have a small area that I think may be infected. Not too happy with that as things have actually been going pretty well. It's an area above where the drainage tube was that developed a scab. Since the scab dissolved it's left an opening and I think maybe the infection could be from showering and water entering it. Oh well, a visit to the wound care doctor today should have me filling up on antibiotics again.
Well, I'm having a hard time getting my post accepted. I thought I had copied and pasted all of it but now discover that I've lost half of it!
So, let me just wish you all a wonderful day and hope I can get back soon! (sure wish DS would fix this darn thing!)
I always mena to participate in these dailys but almost never find the time. My diet is going well of which I am much relieved. WE've been having lots of rain with little sunbreaks in between. Iwant to plant the garden but just cna't find a gap inthe weather long enough to do so.
My plan today is to clean dds room and do a thorough kitchen cleaning; ie. scrubbing woodwork and washing down shelves. Not fun!
Better run I just don't have much time now. Good luck to everyone.
Hi everybody. I'm off to run some errands and then I hope our sunny day holds long enough for me to get out and do some desperately needed weeding.
Feeling VERY BLUE about my Canucks losing miserably to Minnesota last night. It was like they had a total meltdown. Sheesh! It sure doesn't pay to be a die-hard fan. Too hard on the nerves.
Still on South Beach plan. I find it very satisfying. Now if I could just stick with it longer than five days in a row I just might see some results.
Catch u later.
