Default ISO Low Carb Protein Shake Recipes

Hi Ladies

I checked out the recipe section, and I only seen one thread for protein shakes, and it didnt look too appetizing.

What do you make your shake out of? All the recipes I have are fruit juice based. Not very lc friendly.

Thankyou

here's one. the wls folks can use it and believe it or not, you can also bake it for a while and end up with custard!! a nice change.

3/4 c [3 servings] egg beater-type things

1 cup of milk [i use 3/4 cup]

3-4 packets sweetener

cinnamon, nutmeg to taste

vanilla to taste.

whip it up with or without ice [i pour mine over ice]

Mine is simple!
Throw into a blender
2 Tablespoons whey or soy protein powder
1 egg
Splenda to taste
1 cup water
1 individual packet of Crystal light OR some sf Jellow power

Now this is not gourmet but it does give a quick and high protein drink.

Hiya Robin!

Here's a website called Smootie Central that I think you could get some good ideas from:

http://unicity.net/reine/smoothie/#

If there aren't low carb ones I'm sure you can fix it up so there is!

Hey Ladies--
I am interested in the shakes also--do you guys really put raw eggs in? I know we used to when we were kids (in our milkshakes) but I thought that RAW eggs were full of bacteria?? And do you use whole milk? I suppose you do since it is the lowest carb --also the protein powder that I see at the Health food store is so expensive--any suggestions? I usually stay away from soy-I keep reading about the link between that and breast cancer, and I already have a link, and I'm afraid to have another one.

Thanks
Miss D

Well, I use raw eggs but sometimes use eggbeaters which are pasteurized. I feel OK with the raw eggs since I personally know the chickens but not everyone is on intimate terms with their feathered friends. (I think it was the chicken purse that made them like me.)

Sometimes I throw in an extra egg white or two to bolster the protein. Did you know that most of the protein in an egg is in the white?

Loosely, here is my morning smoothie:

1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup kefir, or whole milk plain yogurt
a splash of cream
2 teaspoons psyllium husk
1 serving vanilla powder
4 frozen strawberries
sweetener ( i mix stevia and splenda)

Whirl it all up! If you haven't used cottage cheese, don't be afraid...you'll never know it! It completely smoothes out and helps the smoothie thicken. It's just like a strawberry shake, with a whang!

Hi Jiff!!!!!! I am really here. Back to low carb at the first of April. My job has been eating me alive, so I haven't been able to have any forum-fun. I'm back full force now! I have lots to catch up on.

I see you have a job interview..good luck!!
