Default The Weekend - May 3 & 4

It's a gorgeous cold but sunny morning. The Girls were out before 6 and were very, very quiet. Usually they woof to come in for breakfast. When I checked, they were sitting on the deck chairs, watching the sun come up and gawking at birds flying overhead! Robins and cardinals and finches are singing away and the loons are hollering as they commute between the lakes. It's rowdy out there!

I'm going to be outdoors most of the day and must remember to put on SPF-whatever-I have-leftover. At least there are no bugs as yet although I am expecting those tiny black flies any day now! One of these years, I'll get one of those bug suits that make you look like something from a horror movie!

I'm off for a protein breakfast and some more coffee and to tally up my WW points. It is NOT easy to low carb and do WW! The thought of strawberries made me do it!

Do something for YOU this weekend, chickies.

Good Morning Ruth and all those to come!

Yes, tis the season for buggies, isn't it Ruth? I saw my first Junebug while digging in the perennial bed yesterday and I hear the blackflies are out in full force. Doesn't deter me though, I want to have a nice garden this year!

Speaking of which, Canadian Tire has perennials on sale for $1.89!! Looks like I'm gonna hafta go shopping.....

Dh and I are getting geared up to go to the drive in tonight. He's got to clean out the car to make room for a wee bed for Miree while we enjoy the show

Have a great day everyone!

Default good saturday morning everyone!!!

good news: i have a job interview on the 14th!!!

bad news: they're not quite done reorganizing, but at least they all realize that they want me and they want to make room for me.

and i still hate these awful people i work with.

and i ate too many pretzels yesterday

AGAIN!!!!!

and i went to the lung doctor yesterday and got yelled at. a good lecture and i deserved it. of course, i didn't have to tell him the truth. it would have been so easy to just say that everything was fine. but i fessed up. and told him i haven't been taking my asthma meds and i didn't want to.

please, ladies, don't yell too loudly. it DOESN'T make any sense. it's not rational that i'm doing so much other good-for-me stuff and yet NOT taking care of the asthma the way i should. and the only thing that motivates me to do even that is the fact that i KNOW i could land in the hospital if i don't.

so, since yesterday, i've taken all the meds i should have, and i printed out a list of asthma symptoms, and underlined the ones i get, and posted it on my desk at work where i can see it ALL THE TIME. and i did that so i could remind myself to PAY ATTENTION to how i was feeling and to DO SOMETHING if any of these cropped up.

so, we'll see. but first, i still have to tame the uncontrolled symptoms right now because i've been ignoring them. oh don't panic. the only thing that's happening is some chest tightness and discomfort,. not nearly in the danger zone, but starting down that slippery slope.

and on to the rest of the day. have to see peachie at some point this weekend. i've almost forgotten what she looks like!

AND mom and me manicures. and the gym. and hiking. and errands. hope i get out to the movies or something fun.

love to all...

Talking hello all

New here to the 3fc and just started atkins yesterday...needless to say, sugar cravings still intense, but have already lost a pound...so that will keep me motivated. Got a shock this morning, weather is not very nice, still trying to snow...but I am ready for the warm days of summer...Finn, my 4 month old Husky, would be quite happy to see more snow...

Anyway, just running out the door, wanted to drop in and say hello...wish you all a good weekend!

MrsR......your in Alberta! didnt you have a really really really late blooming spring last year?? I remember hearing about the freezing temps when we were all in shorts and sweltering.

Jiff.....I quit taking the asthma meds except for my 2 inhalers because they used to make me gain weight much too fast. AND every month, I used to get symptoms of pregnancy!! Drove me batty......especially when I had been trying for 7 yrs to get pregnant! Anyway, aside from that, they made me feel lousy...and I also found that as I lost weight, my asthma was and is so much better. A ventolin inhaler will last me about 3 months now, instead of just under a month. I only take the other when I have a cold, and I can feel the tightness in my chest. ( I get scared and dont want to be yelled at in the dr's office) so thats when I take it oh.....and dump your pretzels! if your going to pick and snack at something at work, pick something that makes your fingers messy so you wont eat so much of it. Ive got everything for your interview!!

Well, my day was pretty good....had heaps of ppl in the store and even a few sales !! WOoHOo!!

Hubby wanted to get some more porterhouse steaks before the sale ended today. So, poor us, we had thick bbq'd steaks w/mushrooms 2x this week

All in all it was a great day

Evenin' All

Robin

Not doing well at all. I've been on a carbo binge for the past two days and can't seem to get under control. I made three different kinds of squares for my club's garage/plant/bake sale today and, of course, I've been overindulging in them myself. This started with the fish and chips lunch I had yesterday followed by three chocolate bars and it's just getting worse and worse. I know that the main reason I'm doing this is because the scale showed a 2 lb gain on Wednesday after a week of being totally OP which JUST ISN'T FAIR!! So, who do I punish but myself?! Even as I was typing this I was knoshing on a caramel chocolate square. GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Thanks for being here, Chicks. I know you all understand. I will be good now.

robin. so glad you had PEOPLE in your store. sure hope they bought stuff and went off to tell everyone they know about your place. and thanks for the info on the asthma meds. i'm only on two inhalers: advair and an albuterol back up. fortunately, my asthma is relatively mild. but it's bad enough that it interferes with my life, and with my bedridden/oxygen dependent medical history, NO ONE wants my breathing to go down the tubes again. and yes, it's definitely improved since the weight loss, but it'll never go away.

now linda. prepare to get a kick in the patoot!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO YOURSELF???????

make some tea. do anything else!!!!!

Jiff......if Im not mistaken Advair is full of sugar. My doc prescribed it to me and on first inhale, I could taste it. Meds never taste that good!!!! I quit using it and went back to ventolin and flovent. .......regardless I hope it works well for you, but thought you should know about the sugar.

Linda, give the scale to hubby and tell him to hide it and not bring it out for exactly 30days!!

Hello everybody! I had a LONG day, and now I am pooped. Cody and I went out to pull weeds this morning and instead tackled a spot by the driveway that had evergreen vines of some kind that had been taken over by weeds. I want to plant a small tree there, so we thought we'd just snip them right off. Wrong! They have roots that are 3 inches thick in spots. We worked out butts off but are only part way through. I am determined to make my yard look good this year. This is our third summer in our house, and I have spent the last two behind the computer. This year things will be different. I don't want to look too good though, or we might get the goofy 'Yard of the Month' plaque nailed down in our yard by the neighborhood association. How embarrassing. Oh well, not anything I'll ever have to worry about! I got sunburned too. Feels pretty good though. I missed the sun!

Linda, you will get out of this. I was in the same exact boat as you the last of March. I saw the scale going back up and up, and I finally jumped in head first. I didn't cook anything I couldn't eat, and if Rob and Cody wanted something I couldn't eat, they had to fend for themselves. After my first full day of making it, I felt so much stronger. It took about 4 days to detox, but after that, it only became easier each day. You can do it!

Pooksie, I was reading about some Korean seaweed sheets tonight ( I think it was called nori), in a Cooking Light, and the recipe used those toasted with a soup. Have you eaten it? Did you like it? Surely it can't be high in carbs, if it is seaweed. I thought it might be interesting to try as a cracker replacement.

Jiff, good luck on the job search. I'm still looking for my perfect job too. I am SO lucky to have the benefits that I do have, but I feel so taken for granted where I am. My boss appreciates me, but that doesn't lighten my load.

Ruth, I hope you manage the low carb and WW combinations. I tried it unsuccessfully. Too much fat to fit in the point range. There are a lot of lower fat low carb recipes on the low carb mailing list. If you (or anybody else) is interested, you can join up at Yahoogroups. It is a public list, but still new, so the traffic is light. More people reading than writing! Anyway, if you are interested, you can see it at http://*************.com/group/3FClowcarbrecipes/ .

Ok, off to clean out more magazines and junkmail. I am tired of clutter!

Good Morning friends!

Linda!! I did the same thing earilier this week! I gained 2 pounds, berated myself, stuffed my face full of chocolate and I got stoped cold in my tracks by my dh's coworker who remarked to him that I look great and am I on some kind of diet/exercise program? Dh passed that on at EXACTLY the right moment--before things got out of control. Snapped me out of my pity party and now back in the saddle. So don't feel bad hon! You HAVE come a long way! The SBD seemed to be working for you and that's awesome! So put away the carbo things (actually, toss them in the garbage!) and feel great that you have done well on the plan, OK!?!?

Jennifer, I'm so glad to see you join us again, I know how hectic your life is and all and I'm sorry other plans just weren't working for you. Sounds like you and Cody had a great day together

Jiff--don't feel bad about taking asthma meds--my gran went undiagnosed for 20 years and suffered the whole time. She had a crackpot doctor who told her she had bronchitis (he's dead now, probably of asthma ) Now that she has her meds she uses them sparingly unless she's feeling she really needs them. She feels better by controlling it rather than becoming dependent on them. My mom also uses an inhaler (mainly because she smokes and can't get it through her head she'll feel better if she quits) and also uses it sparingly.

So Robin, are ya rollin' in the dough? Sounds like you had some great sales!

Rachel, I'll take the ribs, but not the beer--just a glass of red wine please! Hope you had a nice time with your friends

Drive in was a lot of fun: 3 movies for 9 bucks a person, how much of a deal is that!? Miree was camped in the backseat and only had trouble with her for about 1/2 the movie. Lucky us got to sleep in till 8 am when Miree woke up (oh yeah, and we got home at 2). Anger Management was hilarious, Identity was a cool thriller (and I thought I wasn't going to like it) and National Security was good--but a renter.

Today I have to finish my humungous perennial bed and finish raking and then tackle laundry. I should be able to get most of it done. Dh has to do paper work before he's off to Toledo tomorrow morning. Gone another week but he will be back late Friday night.

Have a great Sunday everyone

DOH! Jennifer, nori is Japanese and that's the flat paper-like stuff used to roll sushi in. Koreans call it kim. Yeah, I love eating it too but it's very salty and will make you want to drink a ton of water. There is a Korean seaweed soup called Myuk-guk that my dh loves eating that's wonderful for roughage. I got pg with M following a Korean diet so I eat whatever I want when it's Korean. Completely low carb--just the best!

Thumbs down Happy Sunday!!

Good Morning!!

Its a wonderfully sunny day here today....we are off to our sunday starbucks date in a few minutes. Then we are heading to the marina so I can pick thru the drift wood that (hopefully) has piled up a mile high. Rustic chairs made out of this stuff might be very interesting

Have my grocery list made out, and maybe later tonight hubby and I will go out and do that. We agreed that we would do what Linda suggested....and start trying different low carb meals. Im getting really bored with our food choices, and I really want to loose my last 36lbs before summer's over.

Pooky, us? rolling in dough nope, but we made rent though!! We're good for another month!! lol It will be nice when the end of the month rolls around, and there is actually a dollar or 2 left that we can blow on what ever we want. Oh well, we knew it wasnt going to be easy, and it hasnt been a year yet......hopefully things will pick up.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Morning Ladies!
Allergies are in full force today, as I spent all day yesterday outside at the lake. Cedar Point is on Lake Erie for all you who did not know that-we went up in the "Sky View thingy" and saw the Canadian Border-I waved at Pooky and Ruth-and all of you Canadian chickies!
Weelll, the LC thing was blown to bits yesterday as the park had NOTHING in the way of low carb! I had a taste of Funnel Cake-some Nachos, pizza, you name it I had a little of it! I did not overindulge in any one thing-just tasted everything!
I had a baaaddddd moment at the park ladies. First of all it was like 55 degrees there on the lake so I had on jeans, a shirt and a heavy sweatshirt--well I went to get on a kiddie rollar coaster with Mike and the girls--and the seatbelt would not go around me--I had to get off....in front of everyone mind you--how embarrasing!!!!!!!!! I rode like 4 other kiddie rides and no problem...but this one---I can't even talk about it now.

I will check in later girls--I gotta go to the store!

Hugs to you MissD. I've had to ask for a seat belt extension on one airline and nearly died of embarrassment. Good for you for even getting on a kiddy ride. I don't think I'd be brave enough.

I'm trying to stay OP today gals, but I've already had too many unsalted almonds. Well, if that's the worst of my sins, I guess I'll get through it. The first couple of days back OP are always the hardest. I did enjoy my little piggy break but I don't like what it does to my mood or my body so back on track for me. Thanks for all your support.
