Default Low Carb Freestyle-Week of Jan. 19th

HI everyone,
Jennifer, glad your ok and just a computer problem. I am trying to find that address. I have some information they sent me, and looked at that. For some reason, the email address isn't on there. I'll keep looking and post it if I find it, it has to be somewhere in the computer.

Anne, I'll look for that lipstick. Does it dry out your lips? The first ones they came out with were drying people said, so I never tried them. I think the new ones are not suppose to do that. As far as Drs. talking about diets, I do agree that some people do go too low carb, but I don't think the Drs are really that knowledgable when they are talking about these diet plans. I think they are all afraid to go out on a limb due to lawsuits and also public outcry by their peers. Eating too many carbs is the reason so many people are over weight. Why don't they say that the typical diet is bad. Most people just eat junk and supersized portions of bad food. That's what is killing people and making this new generation all so supersized.

I hit 220 this morning. I wanted to be below that for my surgery. Looks like it may be below 210 when I go in and maybe I'll get to have a few more pounds lost with the surgery. The Dr. said she will only be removing cc of fat, not pounds, so not to expect too much of a loss. Every little bit helps.

You know, when I really started to see a big jump in my weight loss was when I started to include weight training. The more I read about this, the more I'm convinced it's true. They say that building muscle and using it really burns up the calories. I'm loving seeing some muscles in my arms. They aren't big and bulky, just kind of sculptured. Wish I could see them in my tummy. It is still rather big and bulky and I'd rather see it looking sleek and muscly. Oh to dream, maybe some day.

Have a great day you guys, Nikki

You Know chicks, the older we get the smaller our lips get, and I think, your ears and nose get bigger????
Have a large slice of this day, I am going to go cook for next week, Pizza soup, triple layered jello, maybe, cheeseburger soup?? I have decided to give up coffee durning the day, and to give up yougart, I started to eat yougart after the flu, and I think this is part of the problem. See I can find an excuse for anything.

Nickki, I could use some of that weight training to. You go girl What is ajig??

Love, Tazcat

I've seen some people with those lip injections. Some look well done and others just look swollen and not right. I'll just keep my little thin, and getting thinner lips. It's an inherited thing, both of the girls have little lips too.
Tazcat, what were you asking me?

Angry Monday,

From what I heard last night on the weather this cold snap is going to last most of the week.

ANNE, the CG lipsitck you mentioned, I think that's what I use. It comes with 2 wands, the lipstick and a clear coating to put over it. I love it! I was watching the news last night and someone has written a book, I forget the title, about how fat different countries are, and the US was the fattest. The jacket cover showed a baby sitting on a map of the US with junk food by its side, which is the typical American diet. I really think people are getting fatter since everything went low fat, replacing fat with sugar, and eating a lot of processed foods.

nikki, that's fantastic, you really are doing great!
Keep it up! Weight training is how Oprah has lost her weight. They say that muscle burns more calories. I have that tummy problem too, but since I've lost weight my tummy isn't as big as it was.

tazcat, as we age our nose and ears do get larger Something I'm really looking forward to.....NOT!

DH & I are going to a movie this afternoon since it's a holiday. He really surprised me! HMMMMM

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day.

Morning everyone,
Tazcat, I get it now, I forgot that little guy was called a jig. I always thought of him as a fighter, which is a good thing, unless your the one on the receiving end. Maybe he's a fat fighter

Aleka, I sure can believe it about America being the fattest nation. Have you ever noticed how big kids are getting? I am always amazed at this. When I was a kid, heavy kids were unusual, now they seem to be the norm. Too much sugar, TV and computer and playing games with a remote rather than their legs and hands. But they still say low carb is unhealthy. We have some friends that came for dinner. The kids are big, overweight kids. I made a nice dinner, without sugar. Just as I was cooking the hamburgers, the parents brought out chips and pop for the kids, right before the meal. No wonder they are so big. Then, they didn't want to eat much food and no vegetables or anything healthy. I don't get it.

Well, got to go exercise. The cat is waiting in the exercise room for me. He knows my morning routine and walks around from room to room with me, like a dog. He waits patiently until I sit down and then, boom, he's on my lap like a heat seeking missile.

Good Morning All:

Aleka, yes it has two wands. It is really great stuff, I love it too.
When you think about it, it actually saves cash because you don't have to keep applying it!

Nikkic, do you eat fruit? If yes, what kinds. Also, what is your
total carb count on an average day. I try to stay around 30.

Anne.

Morning Everyone,
Anne,
I eat some fruit, but I've never been a big fruit eater. I almost have to force myself to eat it. I try to eat a few pieces a week and since I don't eat a lot of it, I eat whatever DH wants, including a banana once in awhile. (Maybe 2 times a month for a banana). I quit counting my carbs. It was what I liked so much about SS'ing. When I went to Atkins, I counted for about a week, then gave it up. I hate counting. I just eat smaller portions, recognizing what food is now makes it so much easier. Before, I really didn't see carbs as sugar. I simply love corn. Being from Iowa, corn is such a staple. But, I haven't had any since last Aug. No flour either or flour products. I try to avoid the processed stuff as much as possible. It's almost impossible to eat anything premade that doesn't have some white flour in it with the whole wheat, unless you live in a big city and pay a lot for it. I got tired of looking for something I couldn't get or would have to pay a fortune for over the internet. I eat a small potato a couple times a week. I know it has a lot of starch, but it has so many other good things too. It's the amount for me. I use to eat potatoes 3 times a day. I try to fill up on lower carb vegetables first, meat then small portions of a carb vegetable or fruit, like a potato, peas, carrots or something like that. Somedays, I don't eat them at all. So, the truth is out, I no longer can call myself a low carber. More of a carb watcher.

What I don't get is, onions. SS'ing eats onions all the time, so do a lot of low carb diets. There is a lot of sugar in an onion, which is why it carmelizes. Is it just early in the day and my brain isn't working? Why is an onion ok, but a carrot is not? There are more carbs in an onion, if I remember right. Is it because your eating a smaller amount? Anybody know?

Nikkic:
How about bread, cereal, pasta, legumes etc? Have you put these back in your program?

Just curious, because you are doing so awsome!

Anne,
I eat whole grains like oatmeal.I was eating some kind of whole grain cereal, but it was too underprocessed and I kept find parts of husks in there I started to eat beans in my chili again. I don't eat beans too much, just maybe once or twice a month in chili and since they are a complex carbohydrate, I think they are just so good for you. No pasta or bread. I don't use much dairy, probably 2 oz. or less a day. Lots of days none. I was over eating on that. I am still not adding fat, like butter to my vegetables. But I don't choose low fat products or leaner meat. I think the fat that occurs naturally is ok, in moderation. For example, I'll eat a ribeye steak instead of choosing a low fat piece of beef. And, of course I avoid sugar like it is poison.
I still exercise 45 min to an hour a day. It really has made such a difference. Somedays, I can only do 5-15 min. here and 5-15 min. there. Every little bit helps.

Nikkic:
One thing for sure, you are doing great. I sometimes get
worried about all the fat you are allowed to ingest on these
diet plans. I try to be reasonable with butter, oil and the like.

My main goal is to get under 200 pounds and from there lose
the rest on a more tradition program like Richard Simmons or
WW. Aleka, are you still attending WW?

Weather is still nasty here guys, I am really growin weary of
feeling like I live in the artic!!
