Default Update: Doc's Opinion!!!

Just have a minute, but I told you I would report back on what my doc said about eating too "FEW" carbs to keep my brain functioning at optimum levels!!! She basically said it was imposible to eat too few carbs!!! She said we do not need potatoes, rice wheat, sugar, etc etc etc!!! She said is we are eating salads or any fruits and veggies at all, that is all the carbs we need for anything. (So I'll have to look for another excuse for my lack of concentration!!!) Anyway I knew you would like this report! I do.

Default Depression can cause lack of concentration

I was looking at a medical site on clinical depression and lack of concentration is listed as on of the symptoms. Also listed was lack of cooridnation. I'll try to find the site when I get home, I'm off to pilates class.

I was watching a program on PBS last night about this scientist who has traced all our genes back to Africa, no matter where in the world we live now. Very interesting. Anyhow, he was visiting these reindeer herdspeople in eastern Mongolia. All these people eat is reindeer meat...every single part of the reindeer is used. The reindeer eat lichen from under the snow. There is no grass and no other plants within thousands of miles. These people are totally healthy and sharp-witted. There is no reason a person can't survive and survive well on only meat. It would get boring as **** but it could be done. Lots of water is required, of course.
Consider the native people of northern Canada and Alaska. Before white people came they survived basically on whale and seal meat with a few cariboo and muskox thrown in for variety. Not too many vegetable gardens or peach orchards in the tundra. They were as healthy as could be until white people brought disease to them.

Default Glad to hear the good news!

dyan_q - Brings up a good point. Lack of concentration is a BIG part of my clinical depression. I don't know of a site you can go to to research any other symptoms, but if you do some research and have others, you should bring that to your doc's attention.

Default My doctor says.......

My doctor says that the body NEEDS carbs, but that it is disputed over and over again as to how many you actually need. In doing research, however, I read that a sufficient number of carbohydrates are needed to ensure proper functioning of our lymphatic (hormone) system. Hormones regulate everything from heart rate to nerve impulses to mental state.

Default Concentration

Your lack of concentration is like what I had been experiencing. I read that dehydration affects the brain caused decreased memory capabilities and concentration. I increased my intake of Water and noticed an improvement right away.
