  • Happy Thursday morning ladies!

The holiday season is keeping me busy and on the run. But I love it. Every night is full of preparation and some special event. The boys are so excited and so good. Last weekend, my dh could not join us as we went to get our tree. My number one son, Don, took over as the little man. Darren selected the tree, Don and I tried to cut it down, each of us having little success. Then as I was laying in the snow trying to saw the tree down, Don joined me on the other end of the saw. Within 2 minutes we had the tree down. He helped me carry it to the path where we were picked up by a horse drawn wagon. It was a lovely experience. Don even helped my place it in the stand. I was so full of Christmas joy and pride in my little boy!

Hope everyone is enjoying the season!

    Holiday hugs to all!
  • Bon voyage, Debkay. I'm sure your vacance will be great.

Jenny, I am feeling very full of the Spirit as I read your post - brings back lots of memories. Christmas is just not the same without kids helping. I may invite my neighbours' two in to do cookies or something just to get a bit of the "old" feeling. Our tree is still in the basement in its box but will go up on Monday - after Gail cleans. That will definitely shift me into major Christmas Spirit.

Harry is off to buy a new tire (flat on the highway yesterday) and I'm into the Big Domestic while he's gone - putting away costumes, finishing cards and getting one more parcel ready for the mail. My DD's parcel was too big for me to handle (and awkward for DH) so my neighbour escorted me to the PO yesterday. Life in a small town is great for stuff like that.

This afternoon I go to the hospital to get the darn stitches out! Freedom at last! I PROMISE TO NOT OVER USE THE HAND THIS TIME. That's easier to say with the left one than witrh the right. I'll also try to get an answer about why the right wrist still hurts!

Gotta go throw a pot roast into the slow cooker. See you later.
  • Good Morning Deb--have a wonderful trip!!!!!

Good Morning Jenny, your Christmas tree adventure sounds wonderful and reminds me of times we did the same thing with Miree. We didn't this year, but instead had her help us decorate the tree.

Janice, that mouse story had me alomst peeing my pants! ROFL!!! I swear, I had my total vision in my head about your dh running around after this mouse--too funny!

Linda, did you ever get that living room decorated??

Well, I'm off to drop in this morning and then to swim lessons this afternoon. Pretty boring day really. Next week will be the busy part--no less than 3 parties to attend!

Good news on the board meeting front--we are in a situation where we will have to close 6 drop in centers (sigh) BUT! we will keep our staff on doing other things until the end of January. Now I don't really feel so sick giving people lay off notices at Christmas. Trust me, I fought this one to the wall, in fact all our board members did and right now there is some promise in at least 4 of the locations, just a wait and see thing. Nothing worse than letting people go on the holidays especially when they are fabulous staff! Can you say stress????

Anyways, my nutty puppy and equally nutty dd are making lots of noise and tearing up the joint--a sure sign I've gotta go!

Ruth, you snuck in on me again! My gran was feeling the same way about lack of kids around at Christmas so we are spending Christmas Eve and Day with her.
  • Morning to all!

Pooky I glad you worked out the situation with the Board. That would have been a bummer at Christmas.

I decided bronchitis wasn't enough, so I added some TOM to liven things up. At least the scale is moving in the right direction.

Almost forgot - Did anyone watch the "Extreme Makeover" show on ABC last night? WOW! I now want Liposuction soooo badly! I'm making that my reward when I reach goal and maintain it for 6 months. Lipo on my jawline and possibly anywhere else I don't manage to get slimed down the LC way.
  • Good morning ladies, This is my day off and I had a great sleep in.
I just went to flyladies site to see what is going on there. well lets put it like this, I am reading and printing off what she has to say.

I went to our tops group last night, another 1.25lb. gone. that gives me 9lbs. in three weeks. The Christmas party was last night, They had the big Christmas Dinner, so I had potatoes, dressing, gravy, and BREAD, OMG. Then I had cheese cake to top it off .
I have to do the same thing today at Grandsons dinner they are putting on at school ,

I can truthfully say that in four weeks this is the only time I have delibertally eaten anything knowingly that I shouldn't have, Oh well start back tomorrow. As a matter of fact it might help.

    Robin-The hand that gives receives.

Mama J- Just too funny, I want to see that!!!
Just think how scared that little mouse was. You see I am one of the people that puts little things like that out. WE caught the one mouse we had in a live trap and had a party, pictures and all, letting him go,

Well I must go as I have a lunch appointment.
    Love Tazcat.
  • Good Morning
    Just a quick hello

Dyan, I know how you feel

The cold is getting worse, and spent most of the night on the couch, so I wouldn't wake hubby with my coughing. I dont know what's worse, a dry cough that hurts, or a congested cough knowing its plugging my lungs, but doesnt hurt!

I cheated this morning, and got on the scale....1 lb gone, which is pretty good considering, I havent been walking or exercising at all since the snow fell. Its too icy! I have felt a huge difference in my clothes the last week, thats why I thought I would get on and see what was happening. Must have lost it in all the right places

Thats it for now....Im off to find more coffee

    Have a great day ladies
    Robin
  • Good evening!! I miss you all terribly. I can't seem to get caught up enough and a few things in my life got put on the back burner. I am popping in here and on the Freestyle thread so I can say hello. I can't wait to get back into the swing of things here again, but that will be at least after this weekend. I have been working long hours at my job, and have alot going on here with regular family life, Cody has karate and a big spelling bee to prepare for, plus all the holiday business and the days never end! I slept almost 4 hours last night, and this morning I banged on the snooze button until 25 minutes before I had to be at work. Yikes!

Oh yeah, I chopped my hair off, it is now about 2-3 inches long all over and highlighted. The highlights were TOO much but I love the short hair. I tease and tangle it up and wax it and it is all spikey. Fits me perfect! I'll update my pic as soon as I have a new photo.

I hope you are all doing well, I'll be back soon!!

    Miss you! Hugs!
  • Yes, I actually DID get family room cleaned AND decorated yesterday afternoon. The little fiberoptic tree just took five minutes. Those things are hypnotic the way they change colours continuously.
I put a fake evergreen garland across the top and draping down the ends of the fireplace mantel. It already had pinecones, little coloured packages and tiny birds in nests in it from last year. It also has a string of lights with snowflake shaped covers twisted through it and this year I added a white ribbon with gold stars. It looks very pretty. On the top of our entertainment center, I set up the wooden village that I made many years ago. The houses aren't lit up from inside but I can turn on the pot lights above them and they show up very nice. There are little trees and little people too. Very cute. I cleared out some of the bookshelves and that's where I'm standing the Christmas cards I receive. On the top of each bookcase I have special candles. One has a grouping of clear crystal angels in four sizes with red candles and on the other bookcase top I have a santa with reindeer and each reindeer has a candle stuck in its back (poor things. ) On my coffee table I put a white gauzy runner with gold stars imprinted on it with the gilded reindeer given to me one Xmas by my neighbour and surround it are three candles in gold star shaped containers. Each end table has a similar runner and one has a lighted house and the other has a holly arrangement. The Nativity scene is on the hearth.
I just put a few ornaments around the living room. It is seldom used but I did want to gussy it up a bit.
Today I baked Christmas tree cookies with green sugar sprinkles on them. Very sweet (yeah, I tried a couple just to make sure they really ARE sweet).
Dondar, you and Pooky and Chrissy make me wish my girls were little again...or even the grandsons. We were a lot poorer but we had a lot more fun in those days. It's the children that put the "merry" into Christmas.
My sore foot is feeling better but now the arthritis in the joint of one of my fingers has flared up and is giving me lots of grief. Lots of rain and wind today which I'm sure isn't helping. It's all red and swollen and it hurts to type so I'll say bye bye for now. Hugs to you all.
  • Hello everyone! What a day, let me tell you. On second thought, let me just keep it to myself. Just that kind of day. But, tomorrow is payday, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Shopping is in my future, I suspect.

Ya'll have a wonderful night, I'm off for my bath. Talk to you tomorrow.
