Default The Weekend - Nov 30 & December 1 :yikes:

Time to get serious! It sure looks like winter around here today!

Friend John is coming at 8:30 to pick up my stuff for the bake sale so I won't be here long. I still need to wrap those pineapple cakes which I made, by the way! It was a lot less trouble to just do it than to teach Harry to bake!

Big excitement at the Fair Board meeting on Thursday - the one I skipped. Apparently the President resigned and walked out! That means we are missing a Secretary/Manager and a President plus have a new Treasurer. I'm sure it will all work itself out - Delta Fair has been going since 1830 after all!

I'd better get cracking because there are still a few costumes to get organized for tonight's Pageant. I must take pictures for once! Harry and The Beard look great as King Herod!

Morning, all you chickies, coffee's just about done, come on by and enjoy a mug with me: hot and leaded!

Uh-oh, Ruthie........ don't you let them swallow you up!! Remember what YOU said: the fair has been going on almost 100 years, and and good many of them were BEFORE YOUR TIME!! You've given so much and earned a rest.... enjoy it!

What are everyone's plans for today? Shopping? Shopping? Shopping? I broke most of my nails cooking for Thanksgiving, so first thing is a manicure.. after that, who knows? Will I be able to stand going to the mall? Am I strong enough for that? Who knows? Only the unfolding of this day will determine! Well, have a great day everyone...........willcheck back with you all later.

No shopping for me today, did enough of that last night to wear me out until January. Still didn't get everything I needed, but hey! It was a start, and there's always a weeknight, huh?

Hope ya'll have a great day, I'm getting the heat fixed in my car today, so I'll probably be checking in here a lot, since I can't get out of the house. Well, I could always WALK somewhere (horrors!) but it's too dang cold. Talk to you soon!

Good Morning my carb suffering, overstuffed, shopped out friends!

Busy today--the Gravenhurst Santa Claus Parade is today and Miree and I are in it! Miree will be on the float for our drop-in center. I am really happy for her. I, of course, will be manning the video camera and taking the pictures while walking beside the float.

After that I am dropping her off at my grandma's house for my mom to pick up--she's taking Miree to her company kids Christmas party tomorrow. While they are doing that, tomorrow is Christmasifying the house. I have to shampoo carpets today so they need some time to dry. The good news is that the little furball Rosie posie will be at grandma's too! Rosie's daddy is my mom's dog so it will be a father-daughter reunion of sorts.

---Great, my dh just called me and he's stuck in the driveway--hang on a minute.

He's out, got stuck in some slush, we've had so much snow that his little car doesn't perform too well.

Gotta go--have a great day everyone!

Hi everybody!

It's starting to feel like real winter- a stay in and cook something cozy for dinner kind of day. I am making Italian sausage with peppers and onions and a pan of baked ziti on the side for DH. I have to be nice to him for a few days. Just a few. He hates to go to family get togethers, and Thanksgiving is the worst. Plus DM's DH, the SH, has adult children that we don't really "click" with, and it's sort of boring. We got through it without bloodshed, but barely. So I am making a big pan of baked ziti, and some oatmeal cookies.

Not much else new. I've been reading a lot, and finished the last 2 Harry Potter books while in Florida. Boy, the plots got more complicated and interesting as it went along. I really enjoyed the last one, especially. It was fun reading, and went quickly. I got DN the Lemony Snicket series first book, and she read it cover to cover in 3 days. I guess I'll be borrowing that later.

For adult reading, I read Peace Like a River, and an Anne Tyler. I really liked PLaR, very good.

eating is same old thing, my new trick is EATING LESS! Wow, what a concept.

I bought a Leslie Sansone walking tape and have done it 3 times in the past week and a half- it's VERY good! (guess you never thought you'd hear me say that!)

I guess that's it for now...off to sneak in some dusting and straightening up... back later.

I've been lurking but not posting because I'm feeling so bummed out about my lack of will power. Even though I know it really has nothing to do with will power and everything to do with carb addiction, I still feel guilty and ashamed. I'm talking about getting into the chocolate chips and banana nut loaf, etc. Last night I went to the neighbours' anniversary dessert party (should have stayed away like Peter did). Even with the husband of the couple and two other male guests phoning him, he still didn't budge his backside from the sofa to walk 200 ft to join their celebration. Ha! Some celebration. All the men in the family room and all the women in the living room. So what else is new? Anyhow, I had a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream and some marvelous home made white chocolate/cranberry crunch candy. What can I say? I'm a glutton. I've gained 8 lbs in the last few weeks and feel HORRIBLE.
Not to mention that my orthotics are just killing my right foot and most of the time I'm having to limp around which puts my back out and I'm just so sick of it. I've had the darned things for months. You'd think I'd be used to them by now but I guess I wear my Birkies too much and don't wear the shoes with the orthotics often enough. ***** *****. Sorry, folks.
On a brighter note, I have nearly finished my Christmas shopping. I got the parcel off to #2 daughter and her hubby in Scotland today. It cost me $115 in postage and insurance, which is about half of what the contents are worth. Sheesh! I could almost fly there for what I spent on that parcel! Highway robbery. I also got all my Christmas cards in the mail. By the way, Pooky, thank you for the very sweet card. You are so thoughtful.
Today I vacuumed the house and tomorrow I will dust and then I guess I have no choice but to start doing some decorating. No big tree this year as Christmas will be at #1 daughter's home. Just our little fiber optic tree in the family room and perhaps an evergreen swag over the mantle and the wreath on the front door. I want to keep it simple and easy this year.
I felt ashamed when I was at neighbour's last night. She has all her decorations up except for the tree and it looks so festive. Of course, she has six little grandkids who visit her all the time so she has a good reason for going to all the effort. They also entertain a lot and have a large extended family who are always stopping by. Our life is so quiet in comparison but I don't think I could live like that anyway.
Well, that's all for today. I'll check in tomorrow and see what you've all been up to. I have to try to get my eating back on track. I sure need some inspiration from my chickie friends.

Linda BC,
You can do it. Just Start.
If it is to be, it is up to me!

I am just dreaming about the left overs that DD told me she brought home for me on thursday!! my stomach is rumbling for them i had a horrible dinner (compared to my MIL's) on t-day so i was just hankering for a good dinner then she brings this up to me after a week of carb ****. so i am trying to fight for survival!!! So anyways linda i am right with you this is the hardest season.

I figure that this month i will do good for 6 out of the 7 days of the week starting tomorow! today if i can manage to stay away from that huge over filled plate!!!

Yo Linda
There isn't one of us who hasn't been there. The sugar thing is very hard, and the return of HUNGER that comes with it, makes it double-y hard! Remember to plan ENOUGH to eat, frequent feedings for a couple of days, plenty of salad or vegetable dishes. Baked goods always are the sabetour for you- plan something else! Make sf pudding. Or sf jello. I know if I can get 2 or 3 Atkins Induction level days under my belt, the cravings will be manageable. How about your Fat Flush days? Reinstate the morning lemon juice and hot water and cran-psyllium drink to start you off well. Even one or two good meals, make me feel better. You can do it! 8 lbs is mostly water, you can get rid of half of it in a week!

I am here myself early on Sunday morning because I am avoiding doing my walking tape. I have done 20 little chores so far, but promised myself I would do it RIGHT AFTER I came to the computer for 15 minutes only! What am I, 5 years old?

Some cooking, the last load of laundry, and I am also planning on putting up a few Christmas decorations in the house. We don't do much, but I do like to see a couple of favorite things around. Maybe I'll play The Messiah and light a cinnamony candle. Can't go shopping 'cause the roads are way too congested here to get to the stores- I live in a major shopping area! Ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon, and have a Land's End order ready to go!

Well, see you later, chicks-

Off to do my walking tape!

Morning Ladies

Linda....dont beat yourself up.....we all have those days. Remember mine? Its been about a week, and Im just getting back to it. Yesterday was my first full op day in a week. I read on one of the posts a while ago something that has kept me on pretty much on track, I cant take the credit, I dont remember who said it but it goes like this ......."a year from now, you will wish you started today" I know that a year from now, I dont want to be a size 20 and be fighting with myself about my weight. So....one day at a time, and dont lay the guilt trip on yourself it doesnt work!

Not much else is new here, Im going to start reposting on fitday and I WILL get my walk in today!

Yesterday was really quiet at the store, Im thinking everyone was at the mall Lets hope for a better weekend next weekend. We have a holiday walk, with a trolley driving up and down the street, late night shopping, santa, and lots of other things happening.

Let me ask you resourceful ladies.........do any of you know where to get a moose mascot costume pattern?????? Ive been searching since September, and I cannot find one. I have found many places that will make it for me, then charge me $1200+ for it. But I can make it myself if I could find a pattern.

Have a good sunday ladies
Robin

Linda, Linda, Linda!!!!! Do I have to drag my sorry butt out there again and smack you? A good idea to get back on some parts of the Fat Flush plan. You know you can do it - it's those little slips that screw you up.

December is now here and I can start to Christmas up. The Country Christmas pageant went very well last night - just a few big puffy flakes as the Wise Men walked through the village on their way to the Stable. One small glitch - the angel was 4 years old, not 17 as last year! Guess I should have checked. Anyhow, I made a quick angel costume right on the poor kid - always carry scissors, safety pins and cord when doing costumes! We grabbed part of the sheet from Baby Jesus' swathing bands and improvised. She was thrilled - I think it was the gold cord and sparkly halo that did it!

Today is tidy this messy house day because Gail comes tomorrow after missing three weeks! Yikes! My kitchen is a real mess as all the stuff from one closet is on the counter - the war on mice continues!

I need to do a wee bit of a shop today so I can get my grand daughter's birthday gift in the mail but then a bit of wrapping, a fire in the woodstove, a scented candle, some tea and a relaxing afternoon. I must also take Miss Lucy for a walk - she is not hungry these days and won't eat unless it's "special" - like chicken and rice or steak and green beans!

It's a gorgeous cold and sunny day so....now is the time to do it! Bye!

So much wonderful support and good advice. I knew I'd find it here. Now if only I can bring myself to take it. It's as if my mind is saying "Give me a break from all the counting and watching and carefulness", but my body is saying "Oy, vat you doin' to me?"
I did some gift wrapping today and discovered two that didn't make it into the parcel headed to Scotland. Darn. Well, they wouldn't have fit anyhow and I already spent $115 on postage for the darned thing.

Just waiting for some guests now...family so no need to primp or fuss. LOL

Whew, I finally made it home! What makes me want to travel all over creation on the weekend when I could be home vegging out? Anyway, the in-laws have been visited, a neighbor has been visited, and a sweet lady I work with has been visited. The shopping is done (except I forgot the milk DOH!) and I am finally going to settle down. OP all weekend, even with leftovers from the big meal. I threw it all out today, can't eat stuffing and potato salad and still fit in my jeans. Anyway, hope all you lovely ladies had a wonderful weekend! Linda, can I hug you again? I hope things work out for you soon! Talk to everyone tomorrow.
