Default Breakfast ideas???

Okay, jsut trying to pick your brains here. What do you usually have for breakfast in the morning?

I've been having scrambled eggs or an omelett. Sometimes two slices of turkey bacon. Sometimes cottage cheese with mandarin oranges or pineapple. I've been doing this for about 6-8 weeks. I still drink my coffee and manage to get at least two big glasses of water in during the morning.

Im not going to be much help Sue.......I eat eggs, simply because they are quick and easy. Sometimes I'll throw a bit of spinach in with it with cheese, or just eggs with cheese.

It will be interesting to see what everyone has for breaky.

I usually have left overs. Whatever was in my pan the night before goes in my mouth in the morning. Failing that, it's cream cheese rollups (roast beef is my fave) and some cukes. I have discoverd my love of warmed cream cheese and cucumber--just slice off about half of a brick of cream cheese, nuke it for about 20 seconds, mix it around and bit and nuke it again for another 15 seconds. it may spatter but wow is it ever good. I usually dip some cukes in it, mmmmmmm.....

Snack wise I have discovered a great alternative for salsa and chips--use pork rinds to dip into salsa! Low carb and mmmm, crunchy and spice all at the same time...Mmmmmmm.... Gees, now I'm getting hungry, I'd better quit while I'm ahead! LOL

Gosh Pook, that cream cheese sounds good!

I either have scrambled eggs and cheese, or a smoothie. I use low carb chocolate powder, add cottage cheese, a tad bit more cocoa and some instant coffee. Yum!

someone around here [i think it's scooby] makes what she calls cream cheesy eggs: take a hard boiled egg and mash it up, and then top with some cream cheese and nuke it. i've done it with american cheese, and it's quite good.

and i'm the queen of deviled eggs with chili paste, tabasco, cumin, and chili powder in any combination.

deli meat and cheese roll ups. and nasus posted a recipe for ricotta pancakes awhile ago. i think it's in the low carb recipe section.

i've toyed with the idea of making egg custards with fake sweetener, but that involves too much advance planning and thinkin for me.

dottiejohn makes little mini egg muffins. and freezes them.

hmmm. that pretty much taps me out here... good luck!!!

Thanks for the ideas. Do you worry about eating too many eggs?

Sue, I'm not worried about eating too many eggs. As long as I don't eat so many that I get a stomach ache or expel the odor for my family, I can live with it!

If I stay hardnosed about this and lose the weight, it shouldn't take too long, and any fat/cholestrol damage (if that was what you were worried about) that could happen most likely won't happen in this short of time. I figured I'd do a lot more damage to my body by staying fat rather than a few radical diet months.

actually, i eat only 5 a week. more than most people, i know, but since i'm eating so little anyway, i absolutely refuse to worry about it. and my cholesterol is quite low these days. it's more important for me to have the protein than to worry about the cholesterol.

some folks who have had this surgery eat only egg whites because the food **** dietician has managed to convince them that we can't have any fat. not true!!!

Oooh yeah, if you find out who makes that cake, I'd love to know!
I'd never heard of the flavored Egg Beaters, either. The advantage of real eggs is the extra needed fat on low carb, but I suppose that can easily be dressed up with cheese and bacon, etc. Do you know what the other flavors are?

I worried about eating too many eggs at the beginning becasue all I was eating was eggs in different styles! But then I got inventive. I make egg drop soup, and I use eggs to dip my meat in and then coat with crucnhed up pork rinds to make a nice coating. You can still eat a lot of eggs on low carb, it's how you "disguise" them that makes the WOE so interesting. Half the time you'll forget that you're really eating an egg!

ok. let's do the protein cake thing. it's made by LES in lehigh valley pennsylvania, and it's something the WLS folks in joisy have been enjoying. BUT. there's been some question that there's only half the protein and lots more carbs than as labeled.

there's a lab that's doing another analysis, and we're all watching this very carefully. and i'll let you all know.

as for availability, we've found it in just a couple of GNCs, and they are the individually owned ones, not the corporate ones. the corporate gncs won't let any products other than gnc ones in the store.

a couple of independent health food stores MIGHT carry it, or can be persuaded to. LES is willing to set up existing businesses as distributors [and they apparently have a high protein pancake mix as well].

the GNCs in clinton NJ and mansfield NJ are willing to mail an order, but the mimimum order is 12. and at $3.29 per slice plus 15.00 S&H, it adds up. but it's still manageable.

it freezes great, and comes in 4 flavors: vanilla, chocolate, banana, and marble. some folks are making french toast out of it, and others are making shortcakes. and then there's the peanut butter crowd...

......aaahhhhhhh the peanut butter crowd!!!!! not me

Well, I seem to have given up the old spoon in the jar!!!!

I love those protein cakes, but Jiff I did read that there is brooooohahahaha over them. If you here the results will you let us know?

I love eggs. I eat them every morning and I am with Jennifer, there are so many other things that are gonna "get me" that I don't worry about them. If I eat a good breakfast of protein I don't seem to get the munchies as badly through out the day and especially in the evening.

lots of good ideas....I should try the smoothie 'cause it would be something different.

thanks!
