It is still snowing here! I am fearful that winter may be here 6 weeks earlier than usual. I don't mind warm coats but hate boots. I guess I'll just wear my gardening clogs until it gets too deep.
Yesterday's meeting re the Fair was long and boring with a lousy dinner for low-carbers. We still do not have a new Secretary Manager and the new Treasurer is off deer hunting this week! So I will be doing a wee bit of Office time. I did get a nice Sears gift certificate as a retirement gift along with two big bags of red licorice twizzlers! During Fair time, we go through pounds of the stuff. Any time something goes wrong, we'd all grab a licorice twizzler and then figure out what to do! Talk about group emotional eating!
Gail is due shortly so I am going to go and horse the bins of summer clothes into the storage area! I have had the stuff packed for over 10 days but an a terrible procrastinator.
Lucy is on the rampage this morning - she just grabbed the mouse! I'll be back later when things simmer down!
Been a usual Monday morning here, run around trying to get things done and Miree doesn't want to cooperate, oh and did I mention all the *&^%$# snow??!! It's wet and slushy now and my car slid trying to go into the driveway. YUCK! I can't believe it's here so soon!
Not much going on today, for a change. Some laundry, cleanup, the usual--actually feels nice to get some housework done instead of running the roads.
Life has kept me from posting as much as I would like to. We had a great Halloween last week. I served grilled cheese ghosts to 12 spooky kids, along with bat and pumpkin jello jigglers, monster toes and a ghostly desert. All served on bat plates and skeleton goblets. The kids had a blast and eat quite well. DH took the gang out trick or treating and mom and I stayed behind to dish out spooky pretzels to the little trick or treaters. It was such fun we had over 100 little spooks!
In addition to a fun evening I had the day off to decorate the house and work a school party. I had fun, I was op, I had M-TV on and I was dancing around the house as I was cleaning. I was high on life and fun. The focus of my decorating was a giant lit purple spider web with giant black and purple spider posed over my dining room table! I love creating special memories for my dear boys. Don was Blade the vampire exterminator, all dressed in black with a special haircut, he actually looked very handsome! Darren was a spooky ghoul and had fun with fake blood. yuck!
The October challenge did not produce much of a loss, just 3 pounds, well I will take it. But I was op and I do feel emotionally great, which makes it a huge success!
SO WHAT SHALL OUR NEXT CHALLENGE BE? Any Suggestions?
L ~ Yugioh cards are the rage in our area also. My boys are having fun with them as they compare numbers to pick the best cards.
Peachie ~ If you see Pooh and Tigger say HI! for me. I do believe that they hang out at the Majic Kingdom now a days.
Janice ~ Hope you are feeling better, please let us know!
Ruthie ~ Thank goodness that you have the snow and we do not. Last week we were supposed to get a snow and rain mix for Halloween, but luckily the weatherman was mistaken as usual.
Pooky ~ I will keep my prayers coming for upcoming fertility success!
Good morning everyone..... looks to be a sunshiny day here today (at least, so far!!) the leaves are gorgeous colors and not too much raking required yet - altho by the weekend I am sure we will be knee deep! But, that's for dh to worry about later on in the week: not for me to worry about today!!
Ruth, I'm sorry you're not having a calm morning - maybe Lucy is jealous? Hey -- I've got some fabulous LL Bean boots that are mid calf with a terrific lining that really works on keeping the feet warm, would something like that help you out? I got them about 7 years or so ago, but I remember that when I ordered them thru the catalogue they came very quickly. RED TWIZZLERS! yummmm - another one of my addictions! I can just see you all chomping on them, trying to solve a problem!
Pooky - PLEASE drive carefully.... you are very precious and we don't want to see you get shaken up (or worse!!)
Jennie, it sounds like your Halloween was great..... years ago we used to dress up for answering the door..... the only thing was, I did dh's makeup so well that it scared the little kids! It was a sort of frankenstein/monster with chains and blood and gore! And I did a vampire with gooey red blood dripping down my chin - sheesh! that reminds me of how much fun we used to have.!!
Well, gotta go get some coffee and get the day started.....I'm working this afternoon, and YES! I am STILL loving the new job! HOOOOORAY!
Have a great day everyone........
Today was weigh in day, and .............are you ready for it?
"221" down 4 more from last monday!! I'm doin the happy dance!!!! Looks like I'm going to make my November 11th goal.
OK, on to other things....I didnt get my daffodil bulbs planted yesterday. No excuses, just didnt feel like it lol. However, I did get out to a birthday party for a woman that has a belly dancing studio across the street from our shop. I do believe she talked me into taking bellydancing classes. should be a blast!
I hope this monday is a great start to everyone's week!
Robin
Yawwwwwwnnnn. Need large cup of coffee this morning!
Did way too much housecleaning this weekend, now I hurt all over. owwww. Shoulders and back hurt the worst. I was doing a fall cleanup of my kitchen, walls, counters, floors, cupboards etc.
Also started some christmas shopping, had to resist the urge to play xmas carols, dh would have pitched a fit.ha ha Little Jay has been a handful all weekend, not wanting to eat much at all perhaps his 2 yrs molars are starting? He also is testing me over and over and over, he lifts the lid on the garbage then looks at me with one eyebrow raised and hand hovering over the inside of the can. YUCK! Then runs like stink when I say "no touchy", only to be back again in a flash. He slammed the fridge door on dh head last nite, he doesn't like cupboards, drawers or doors open, he closes everyone, but the garbage he wants open! Ahhh well, I hear Atilla jumping to beat the band in his crib, I best go fix his breakfast.
P.S. I am only wishing for snow on the island! I don't count it snowing here one day and being gone the next a snowfall. I want one whole month of snow! In december if ya please, green christmas is just tooo weird!
Hello everyone! Great day at work today (see my tongue in my cheek?) Busy, busy, busy! At least the time passed faster. Been very OP today, but now dd is digging in the candy. Gotta get rid of that stuff! Anyway, hope you're all having a wonderful Monday, talk to you later!!
I had a perfect day! I had a perfect day! I just feel like singing 'cause I had a perfect day!
Wow, it's been so long! I see a few others did good yesterday also, from reading yesterdays thread-
I did perfect Atkins Sunday and today- I am so psyched to have broken this barrier of "almost" or "pretty good." OK, then a few cheats that ruin it. I really needed to get started on this because I know that it gets easier once you get through a couple of solid VERY LOW carb days.
And I did!
Hurray!
Otherwise, everything sucks. Work is too horrible. I am exhausted and cranky to everyone I see. I am on the verge of walking out the door about 3 times a week. Resume time!
Time for some steak, and broccoli tossed with garlic, butter and romano cheese! What a diet!
Oh dear dear! Steak and broccoli tossed with garlic and parmesan? I wish I had what you had! I tried to make my own zucchini/mushroom/onion medley and it sucked. The onions were wayyy to oniony, and I forgot the Sherry. Just wasn't good!
Has anybody eaten at El Chico? They have the YUMMIEST veggies. It is green beans, onions, carrots and potatoes. I knock the potatoes off to the side. There are only a few carrots. I talked to somebody that used to work there and she said it is oil, plus worcestshire and soy sauce. I can't get it to taste anyhting like the restaurant! Oh dear, they are yummy. Whenever we go, I get Monterrey Chicken and just ditch the potatoes, seems to be in plan perfectly. If I can only turn away the chips!
Dottie, I am in a love hate relationship with my job also. I would start one up in a heartbeat if I could afford insurance.
Ok, going to make some peanut butter ball things. Needing something sweet BADLY.
BTW, Robin, can you post food logs sometime? You are doing magnificent and I'd love to see what you eat daily!
i see that i'm later than jennifer... it MUST be past my bedtime!!!!
and dottie!!!! that's FABULOUS!!!! now, get your resume done and out the door. please? all that broccoli-brain food stuff should motivate you.
johnson and johnson sent me the loveliest 'not now, dear' note, but there was a great job at Merck that i submitted my resume for, so something might turn up.
and it's nice to see you all. and glad that you're doing OK. except for snow and halloween candy.
let's see. what's new around here... went back to work today. still hate them.
talked with mom's rheumatologist about setting up physical therapy for mom, and it's a done deal. now, the real problem starts: getting mom there!!!!!
we did a whole lot of mom's christmas shopping over the weekend. and then i'll start mine. sure hope she doesn't lose the gifts she bought!
lost another 3 pounds last week. for a total of 253. COULD I HAVE A GHOST GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH NOW, PLEASE DONDAR??? sounds like you had at least as much fun as the kids, at least until cleanup rolled around.
