Default Tgif - Friday 's Chit Chat

Well, look who's first in line today! Of course, I have to cheat to beat all you Chicks out of the henhouse. It's just turned midnight where I live and I'm waiting for two loaves of bread to bake. The whole house smells divine but I am determined I will not sample.
Ruth I'm so sorry about your furnace problems. That's a real pain in the patootie. Hope they get it fixed pdq.

I forget what I wanted to say to everyone else. DUH! I'm really losing it. Must be all the chocolate I've been wolfing down. Never......I mean NEVER will I EVER AGAIN buy Hallowe'en goodies two weeks ahead of the day. I must have been out of my mind!
Well, it's all gone now and I am planning a fresh, new start tomorrow (oops, today I mean). I can't believe I've eaten three dozen mini chocolate bars in less than a week. I'm so ashamed of myself! But, as Scarlet said "Tomorrow is another day".

I was just reading some comments about the George Foreman grill on the Atkins website. People there seem to think it's terrific. Does anyone here use it and what do you think of it?

Today, (after I go to bed and get up) I intend to do some garden clean-up. I have a Dr appointment in the pm and my house also needs a good cleaning. Hopefully I can stay OP too. I just have to figure out which P I want to stay O.

Morning Everyone!

I'm up 3 hours before Im suppose to be, so here I am. No coffee though, its too cold in the house to bother making it.

Today's the day! Our grand opening starts at 2pm, unfortunately the mayor backed out (not surprised). But hopefully there will be enough ppl there, and media folks to get us some nice free advertising! This might explain why Im up so early.......just so many things to do, and my brain wont quit.

Had a great day yesterday, stayed OP even thru the butter tart baking, and moose dropping count (dont ask) Wish me luck today, the apple cidar will be sitting in a crock pot nice and warm in the store, with all the goodies around it. It smells sooooooooooooooooooooooo good!

I'll let you know how it all went tomorrow .....have a great day ladies.

Default GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!!

Linda I love it when you start the daily!! I know what you mean about that nasty Halloween candy. My middle son wanted to know why there was none in the house. I just decided I would not purchase any until the 31st, and I'm sticking to it. Next Thursday I will get a couple of bags and that will be that.

Welcome Robin

Barb so glad to hear that your Dad is home. I know both he and your Mom feel much better being in their own bed.

Ruth, I hope it's not to cold in your neck of the woods, wait, what am I saying, your in Canada. Let me rephrase that, I hope you have lots of blankets and woolies. Stay warm until they get that furnace fixed.

Janice if your reading, check in, let us know how your doing.

Finished most of my cleaning yesterday, but as anyone with kids knows, there are things you just don't do until the last minute. I don't know why I worry so much about cleaning, my relatives didn't come to inspect my house their coming to see us. This is a woman thing, isn't it.

No game this week!!!!!!!! It's our bye week, after this week we have two games left and we are done for the season. Not a snowballs chance in you know where that we will make the playoffs. I shouldn't be glad about that should I, but I am

Guess I better toodle, I need to get my day started.

If I don't make in back in this weekend, Have a great weekend all.

Morning all, and welcome Robbin!
What kind of store?

We ll our school is having their big rummage sale. I spent the day unpacking cloths for the sale. Yesterday was buy it for 2x the price. I bought some sweaters for the kids (gap) jeans (levis)a cutter and buck vest for DH and LLbeen snowpants. all for $20. Came home, washed it all. The quality of some of the stuff is incredable! I have to pick up little man and my car pool girl and take them as the kindergarten class is not allowed to go. I might have to do a little more looking today. it amazes me what still has tags on it, all for a buck! So if you are in my neck of the woods come on down, would love to meet you.

Anyway, I have some getting ready to do for Sunday. I have 27 adults and 18 kids planning on being here for the naming. I have to confirm the service with the Rabbi so I can print up the prayrs and blessings, for my guest to follow.
Karate test for the boys tomorrow morning, and they look like they are in good shape. I think the 50 push-ups mingt be pushing the envelope.

Ok enough chatter. I have to go do a workout so i have the energy to get on with my day.

PS linda, this months self had a quicky artical on streanght trainning. Itsays if you strenght train 3x a week it raises your metabolism enough to increas your caloric intake by 230 cals per day. or helps you loose faster. Check it out.
be well,
-L

Good Friday Morning Chickies!

I have absolutely no idea why I am in such a good mood right now - but, whattheheck, I'll take it!!

Linda.. dh bought a HUGE bag of those minichocolate bars - I went to the pantry and it's HALF GONE! I told him I'm gonna put a sign on the front door when the candy's all gone: "sorry kids, but the piggy man of the house ate your candy"..... cause I REFUSE to buy more! (fortunately, most of the bars in the bag are candies that I don't like!!!) About that George Foreman grill, I have the "medium" size (4burger one) and it is terrific! I use it 3 or 4 times per week..... it's great for burgers, steak, chicken, veggies..... mostly tho, I do chicken cutlets on it. Season the chicken, spray it (the chicken) w/a little olive oil, put it on the grill for 4.5 minutes and voila! dinner! EASY cleanup too (a real plus!)with just a sponge or wet paper towel. (Gee, do you think George will give me a commission?)

Robin... good luck with the opening today. I also was gonna ask what kind of store, but L144S beat me to it!

Deb, enjoy your bye week........ maybe some rest is in order? (ok ok ok - you can stop laughing, but the sentiment is real!)

L - good luck this weekend...... I forgot to tell you that I love the names! Remember, if it gets too hard having the wonderfully loving grandparents and lovely spouses all at the same time: there are chickies here who are sending strong, calming vibes (AND HUGS) your way!

Ruth..... I hope you are a bit warmer today.... if not, you can come on down to LI for a visit! I'd love to have you.. AND we got a delivery of oil yesterday!

Barb.... sooooo glad your dad's home.... it'll give you a break from the guilts! (Not to mention you'lll be able to get some much needed rest!)

Well ladies, the coffee pot is calling my name..... have a great one everybody! And enjoy the last 2 "daylight" early mornings!

Good morning ladies, although it sucks in Tennessee! Weighed this morning, I have GAINED and I wanna kick myself. Cody had 'Honeybuns for Heroes' at school this morning, and he invited Rob and I as his heroes. I drank coffee and watched them eat the honeybuns. I did cheat last night on the halloween candy. Somebody opened a bag at work that we had to give out to the donors next week and I ate 3 mini Hershey bars. This morning I pay for it with a 2 pound gain, on top of the 5 I gained last month. I feel like I am spinning out of control and I need to find something that will work for me.

I have the PP book in my purse (I carry a brief-purse) and I will read on all my breaks, etc. I need to start journaling my food again too. I will not weigh again until Nov 15th. This is ridiculous.

SG, do you get your chicken breasts browned? I used to use my GF grill all the time and loved it. I packed it up when I divorced and didn't take it out again for about a year and when I cooked on it again, the chicken wound up white with brown grill marks on it. Just didn't look tasty! I am not sure what I did wrong. I have an electric grill, also, but I haven't used it yet. Anybody else using one? If so, do you like it?

Robin, good luck on your store opening! This must be a very exciting day for you!

Off to finish my smoothie, then to K-Mart to buy a Gazelle.

Aaaah! The board meeting is finished and oohed and aahed them with my pumpkin cheecake squares. I'm just glad the whole thign is over, I swear I was breaking out in acne over it!

I have to get back on plan, I am very lucky, I didn't gain weight but I didn't lose either. I'm still at 200. I didn't eat a lot but when I did eat it was carbs...sigh.....

Today I am canvassing local lumber yards and hardware stores for building materials for our shade structure to go in the children's play yard at the daycare. Building day is tomorrow--I am so excited! That's another project that I will be thrilled to have over with--taken 6 months in planning and execution thus far.

Linda hon, don't beat yourself up over th Halloween candy, I got smart this year and am not buying anything until Halloween too, just like Deb. I am going to buy those cases of chips--that way if there is anything left than Miree can have them for snacks. Last year, I did the same thing--pigged out on all the candy and had to go buy more!

L, seems you have the deals of the century! I can only get so lucky. Usually they have not so nice stuff and the nice stuff they ask too much for.

SamsG--I'll have to look into the grill myself, anything to take the grease off what I'm eating.

Oh Jennifer, I can completely understand. The damned scale is our worst enemy I swear!

Have a good day everyone and all those to come!

Hello, me again.
Thanks for the responses on the G.F. grill. I just may ask for one for Xmas. I don't know where I'd put it though. My kitchen isn't the biggest and my counters already look cluttered with too many small appliances. Does anyone else have that problem? I just put away the ice cream maker for the winter in the laundry room cabinet but there is still the toaster, the blender, the mixer, the electric knife (which I use to cut fresh bread so it's out all the time), the electric frying pan (which I use all the time) and the food processor all taking up space. Now, some people would have all these things tucked away in their own little cabinets, but I've never seen the point of putting something away when I use it every day , plus I just don't have the storage space for them all in my kitchen. Luckily my bread machine has a home in a lower cabinet or it would be getting in my way on the counter too.

Well, Chicks, I faced the music this morning (Friday being my usual WI day) and I've only gained 2 lb in the three weeks I've been overindulging myself. I certainly haven't been exercising. I haven't been to the pool in three weeks, first because my visiting daughter had my car the week she was here and second, because I've had a bad head cold. The only answer I can come up with is that I've continued to take my supplements while binging. I st ill take my CLA capsules three times a day, my Oil of Evening Primrose 3xdaily, plus my multivitamins and a Fat Flushing mixture I got from the health food store that keeps me even more regular than usual. (3 capsules every night). I also use flaxseed oil and ground flaxseeds on a daily basis. Still, I'm trying to get a handle on my appetite because I certainly can't remain this lucky much longer. Today, so far so good. Wish me luck for the weekend.

VENT TO FOLLOW

SH ex's, I swear! He hasn't got the brains god gave a cabbage! Anyway, I'm ready to move to an unknown location, change dd's school and daycare, and change our phone numbers. Does that sound too drastic? Couldn't I just beat the H*LL out of him and get it over with??? Maybe I'm being irrational, but I'm sure this is all his fault. Thanks, I feel much better now.

On a much happier note, I think I'm on the downward spiral again. Maybe the weight that I've lost is all my hair that's fallen out, but hey, the clothes are getting looser! Cross your fingers for me, okay?

It's bath and bed time for this tired chickie, talk to ya'll in the morning!

Hi everybody! Wanted to pop in....

Linda, I don't have cabinet space either. I have a shelving unit in the basement that I am going to set up and put kitchen appliances on it. At least the less used ones. I can just dust them off when I bring them up. Does anybody know if IKEA delivers? I have a catalog, but there aren't any item numbers in it...not sure if I can order by phone or not, I think they are a pick-up place. They have a billion things I want. Cabinets and hutches being a few of them.

Sherrie, we need to start a club of low carbers with SH's for ex's. You and I can be co-presidents!

I bought my Gazelle today, but no rug. Can't find one I want! I can't believe it, but Rob agreed to a leopard skin rug! I wanna do a Colonial South African look thingy in the living room and he has hated it all along, but he is starting to give in. hehe.. Now I don't want an animal skin rug! I can't find one reasonably priced. I love flowers, but not for interior decoration. I only like real ones. I am more of a ....I dunno, but I don't like flower rugs or plain solid ones. The ones I like are too expensive. Maybe I should just shut up and be happy I have enough $$ to get one out of this paycheck!

Now, who wants to run a tipboard on how many days it takes me to get my Gazelle up and running?????

When we were in Zimbabwe a couple of years ago, we visited the old colonial Victoria Falls Hotel. There were animal heads on some of the walls which kinda freaked me out but I didn't see any animal skin rugs. Most places in those warmer countries just have brick or tile floors. I think you would still be authentic if you could find some kind of woven rug with an African look or something like grasscloth would look good too. I bought quite a few hand carved animals when we were there SO CHEAP but I didn't have enough suitcase space to bring as many as I wanted. I did buy a hand carved giraffe that has pride of place in my family room tho. He stands about 3 ft high and is unfinished (no stain or varnish). I also have a larger stained and varnished one that belongs to younger daughter but she'll be taking that away with her some day, no doubt.
