So, as we prepare for Boot Camp, it might be a good idea to review how we did in the 3 week September Challenge.
My goals were
1) low carb less than 70 g. perday, and 1500 calories, using Fitday
2) drink water, iced tea and green tea, cranwater instead of diet soda.
3) lifestyle- either weights, stairclimbing or something nice each day
HOW I DID:
Well, got off to a bad start on a 4 day visit at a friend's house where lowfat carbs were the mainstay. Never got back to using Fitday. But ate fairly well for the last 2 weeks, so I feel pretty good. No sugar except in planned day off, and my weight is down 1 lb.
I have not been buying soda at all at home or work. Making brewed tea for iced tea with stevia or splenda, and cranwater. I am keeping my AM coffee, but never drink that for the rest of the day.
Treats and daily pleasures have been fun. I am climbing the stairs to the 4th floor about 6 or 7 times per day, and feel the difference in my quads. I don't do "something nice for me" everyday, but I did a few times and it was fun!
Anybody else want to report on their personal challege?
My goal was to lose 5 pounds and exercise at least 5 days a week.
I weighted in at 255.
After my 3 weeks I can report I was OP on all but 3 days. I only lost 4 pounds. But I'll take it!!!
As far as exercise went I road my exercise bike 5 days a week at least, but did not do so well with the water aerobics. I did okay the first 2 weeks, 5 times each, but this last week I had to put my car in the shop and only made it 3 days.
I didn't do too well in the do somethng for yourself dept. but as part of my goals for the period, I tried to do something positive regaarding my AVON, and I did well with that. The first two weeks, I printed a brochure and took them to Day Care centers to give out to parents. Last week I "hired" a neighbor girl to pass out brochures in the neighborhood.
Sept 17 was the day for the big push to sell the AVON Breast Cancer Crusad Lipsticks, but this year I wasn't up to really doing much for it. Last year I sat up a booth in the atrium lobby of the health club and went all out with balloon, and a really nicely decorated table and giveaway chocolate kisses. Since it was right on the heels of 911, everyone had "given" all they could and did not meet my goal and had to return lots of lipsticks. This year because of all that has gone on in my life for the last couple of month, I just didn't have th energy. But if anyone of you has an AVON rep, ask about the special Breast Cancer Lipsticks.
ALL IN ALL: I 'm satisfied with my results of the 3 week challenge.
Gee barg I am or was an avon rep. i did not pay the bill as it was so far behind and i had no cash. I am finally cought up so maybe i will be reinstated.
as for me this month was a blow out. so for me this last week will be clean house for the diet and house!!!
My goal was to lose 5 pounds, exercise more and drink more water. I lost 5 pounds, but I think I gained some back...will have to weigh again tomorrow! I don't know HOW I gain. I have only had the one off plan meal a week, other than that I am a perfect dieter! Must be the exercise, which I did not attain my goal in!
Water improved, but not to the level that I wanted. I need bootcamp.

Looking at my chart I can clearly see where I need to improve.
My water is good, except on weekends. I ate OP everyday except 2 and that was the darned oreo dirt cake. Exercise was skimpy. I averaged 3 days a week, not bad but I only lost .5 lbs. I've gained that back plus some due to PMS this week, but that isn't bothering me, I'll lose it sometime this week when I sart.
Jenny, that is fantastic! Oooh, I want to copy your food schedule. I didn't think about the shakes/bars. Well, I eat shakes for breakfast, but I eat a regular lunch. A shake might simplify that. What kind of snacks do you eat? I like the 32oz of water. Maybe just sitting down and doing it all at once would be a good way to get it down without forgetting it. I usually stand at work all day, and most of the time eat at my computer or during a meeting (yes i know that is bad, but work is hectic) so I need to MAKE myself take breaks. I should sit and drink. Thanks for the details, it helps!!
BTW, I re-weighed and I did make my Sept goal. October is the one I really want, though, because Sept was the loss of the gain in August, which I lost in July! One big circle that I want to break out of!
I usually snack on veggies or cheese, it is apple season here, and I will occassionally indulge, and it has not presented a problem.
Many years ago, I had a lot of weight loss success (not maintence success) doing Slim fast. The idea of bars and shakes works well for me in my work/housekeeper/soccer mom lifestyle. That is why I am doing the low carb shakes and bars. I like that I do not have to think or plan too much.
The 32 oz of water is the size of the water bottle at my desk. I make sure to fill it up in the morning and afternoon. I get additional water throughout the day that I know accounts for at least a total of 100 oz.
Someone has also asked about my exercise routine. I typically do 20-30 minutes of a cardio workout (usually eliptical machine), and 20-30 minutes of weight training, both upper and lower body each day. I do this Monday through Saturday, taking Sunday off. This is currently working for me, but at some point, I plan on visiting with a personal trainer to fine tune my program.
