  • IT'S FRIDAY
Nikkic, my husband and I are so excited about seeing Mick and
    Keith!!

I've heard so many people talking about their age. To me
age is a number. I would rather listen to the Stones any day
then listen to the crapolla that's my 18 year old son listens to.

Mauvaisrous, how did your dinner go? Was it hard to find
    "legal" food?

Aleka: October is my fav too, My wedding anniversary is Oct 28
My husband and I both love that month!!

I am writting you guys from work. Do you know, the boss took
today off after she would not give it to me!!!

    Have a great day all
  • HI everyone,
Anne, I hope I don't offend anyone here, but I hate rap. I must feel the same way my folks use to about rock and roll. I don't understand rap and when I have tried to listen to it, it seems like it is so hateful towards women. That turns me off right there. I do like any other kind of music. In fact, my DD and I were listening to the radio the other day and I liked a new song, but it was by Sting, so I don't know if that counts I can't imagine the Stones will do to many more concerts, your so lucky to see them.
Aleka, I can't get close to a potato. I love potatoes and use to eat them several times a day. Same for corn. I use to have corn for snack food. It has been kind of hard not eating it, since this is Iowa and the sweet corn is sold on ever corner practically now. I always thought if I could only have 2 things to eat the rest of my life, potatoes and corn would be the only things I'd need. Oh well, I will have them again someday, just not for awhile.
I've lost 2 more lbs. I have to get a better scale, I don't know if I believe this one. Anyway, started at 274, now 255. When I get down to 250, I'm ordering that gazelle like thing from qvc. At this rate, that would be next week.
The picnic is back on for tonight with our friends and their children. I bought some hamburger and buns for them and I guess I'll give in and have chips too. I hate doing that, I am sure I can resist, I've got a lot of legal food to fill up on. Now that the scale is moving down, it's really easy to stay legal. I love seeing that downward trend!
Well, got to get busy and cut up some veggies. Dh got up early, at 530am and I couldn't sleep after that. I went to bed at 2am so I am tired. He has now gone back to bed for a nap.
Take care everyone, oh and Anne, your boss is a

    Nikki
P.S. As far as snacks at night goes, I've been eating anything that is legal. I've practically been living on that Miracle Fluff. It's sugarfree jello, heavy cream, cream cheese and vanilla. If you want the recipe, just say. I eat it almost every night right before bed. I feel so guilty. Suzanne says in the faq it doesn't matter when you eat. I think it is hard to go for hours through the night with nothing for your stomach to do but growl. I love this woe!
  • Hi Everyone!!

Nikkic, I would love the recipe for Miracle Fluff!! I love sweets.
    Another 2 pounds, Fantastic!!

I get weighed in on Saturday morning and I will certainly post
    the results.

I am just eating my lunch now at my desk, I am eating
salmon, veggies, and I have a caffeine free diet coke for
later. This should hold me until dinner.

I'm with you Nikkic, I love this woe, too, It rocks.
    Anne.
  • Anne, Oops, I already posted this recipe for the fluff last week on the dessert forum here. Look under Low carbohydrate lifestyle and then desserts. I have this memory loss thing going on. I hope this woe will help with that too.
    Nikki
  • Happy Labor Day everyone!
Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend.

nikkic, thanks for posting the Miracle Fluff recipe. I plan on making it this week. It sounds fanstastic Can't wait to try it. Congratulations on another 2 lbs. It really does motivate you when you do see weight loss.

ANNE D, how did your weigh in go on Sat.? Your boss sounds like a witch. I've had my share of bosses like that also.

Hi mauvaisroux, hope you are doing well.

    Aleka
  • Hi everyone,
We just brought our camper and our tired old butts back to town. It was a great trip, beautiful weather and we both had a great time. It is hot and humid today, with a high of 90 something and then a big storm tonight, so it's good we got home early. The old man is in bed taking a nap. He has to go back to work tonight, so I'm glad he can sleep.
Hey, last night I made some really great chili, I think it is the best I've ever tasted. I posted it in the entrees section, if you want to check it out. There are no beans, but mushrooms to substitute for them. At first I thought it would be kind of gross with mushrooms, but it's really good. I made the recipe up as I went.
They are restructuring the ss website and it will be down for 2 weeks after the 16th. If you want any recipes from there, I now have 4 notebooks full. I still can't figure out how to save them to a folder in the computer. I've been doing what everyone says, but it isn't working. Anyway, everything that is on their website will be erased, which is too bad, they have a lot of great recipes on their threads.
Hope you all are having a great weekend.
    Later, Nikki
  • Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

I actually managed to get some rest this weekend
I think I was suffering from too much to do syndrome for the past few weeks.

I was reading a magazine today and there was an article on food allergies and weight loss. Two of the three items mentioned were wheat and sugar. I am still having trouble weaning myself of tea with sugar in it so I am making that my mission this week.

The miracle fluff sounds yummy I am going to try making it next weeekend. That chilli sounds good too!

Well I am off to get my things ready for work tomorrow If only I could win the lottery
  • Hi Everyone!
Hope you all had a great labour day weekend. I tried the
Fluff recipe Nikkic, it was delicious.

I lost two pounds this week, so I am thrilled with that.

I am home this week and I am even more thrilled with that
considering I won't be seeing for a whole week! YES!

Today was a busy day in my house, kids back to school, maybe
now I can my house cleaned up!!!

Tonight I am having steak, green beans, fried onions and of
course some of that wonderful fluff!!

    Talk to you all later.

    Anne.
  • Evening everyone!

Hope you all had a good day today I was off work today, I think I have a bug or the flu as I haven't been feeling that great since Sunday. I slept most of Monday and felt really run down then I woke up feeling dizzy and feverish this morning. I am feeling a little better now. At least I managed not to drink coffee or caffeinated tea today

I am determined to stick to my WOE this week.

    Congrats on your 2lbs Anne!
  • Hi everyone,
Anne, I'm happy for you. It feels good to lose! I have gained some, it's my TOM and I am bloated and feeling sore. I hope this extra weight goes away as fast as it came.
Mauvaisroux, I'm sorry your feeling bad I hope your feeling better soon. I quit using sugar in my tea years ago, so did DH. Now we can't stand sweet tea. When you get use to it, it is so refreshing. Sweet tea is so, I can't think of the right word, thick or not as refreshing anyway.
I went to the chiropractor today. I woke up at 3am with a stabbing pain in my neck. He says that I've blown a disk in my cervical region. I feel better since I saw him. He also told me something I thought was interesting, I don't know if I believe it or not. He says there is new research that supports the idea that taking 800 mg. of Motrin a day will stop or even reverse the effects of Alzehiemers. I haven't heard that, have any of you? Of course, I don't read the papers or watch the news. I do know that taking ibuprofen everyday is hard on your stomach and liver. It would be great if it really helps people.
Well, I've rambled on plenty long enough. Bye for now, Nikki
  • Would somebody like me to start a new thread so it will be easier to navigate? Or I can just mind my own beeswax!
  • Hi everyone,
Jennifer, sure you can start another thread. You don't have to mind your own beeswax. Thank you for offering.

mauvaisroux, I hope that you are feeling better. It isn't fun when you're sick with the flu. The only good thing is that you tend to lose weight.

ANNE D, congratulations on losing another 2 lb. That's fantastic.

nikkic, I have never heard of the Motrin helping to prevent Alzheimers. Did you look it up on the internet to see? I do know a family member of mine is in the first stage of Alzheimers, but nobody has said that the Dr. has put them on ibuprofen. That is interesting. I am going to make the Miracle Fluff tonight.

I have been on Premarin for the last 9 yrs. following a hysterectomy. My Dr. is now weaning me off of it. Because I seem to have a hard time losing weight, she said that Premarin could be hindering my weight loss, and/or that I'm not eating enough. So, we'll see what happens. Let the mood swings begin

Take care and enjoy the rest of the day. Aleka
  • Hi Everyone!
I have been spending my day reading all the recipes from the
Suzanne Sommers site I had mailed to me.
Some look fabulous. Last night my son tried making the
cheese puffs from Peter Neumans recipes. You know, they
were'nt bad at all. Somehow my guilt still plays in and I
    only ate 2
Aleka: I too have a heck of time taking weight off. I figure its
because I am 45, I am starting to experience irregularity in my
cycle which would be putting me in perimenopause therefore
my hormones are becoming wacky This is the first time
I have been able to budge my weight. I hope it continues.
Nikkic and Mauvaisroux, I hope you two are feeling better
    Talk to you all later.
    Anne.
  • Evening everyone!

I am feeling a bit better and made it in to work today, though I was dragging my heels somewhat I just wanted to stay home in bed and hide out from the world.

Anne and Aleka- they say it gets harder to lose weight when you get older as your metabolism has changed or is in the process of changing. Hang in there though as you will reap health benefits for the future if you take care of yourselves now. That is one of the main reasons I decided I was going to lose weight and change my lifestyle and eating habits. Now if only I could improve my sleeping habits

I was reading a health and fitness magazine today and all the ads, articles and recipes were all low-fat this and low-fat that.
I'm am having a hard time getting out of that mind set and accepting the fact that I can eat things that were previously
    taboo

Hey did anyone end up watch that spot on CNN with Suzanne Somers? I missed it as I had friends visiting from out of town and forgot to tape it.

Nikkic-hope you are feeling better today

Jennifer-you can start a new thread if you want to or one of us can . Maybe we should start a new one every Monday so that they are easier to read. BTW how do I find all those low-carb recipes that we had. I have gone to the recipe section here and a recipe is there one day and gone the next

    Have a good night everyone!
    Mauvaisroux

P.S. I think someone on this thread asked me what my name meant awhile ago and I forgot to tell them. It is french for Evil Redhead.
  • Mauvaisroux, I LOVE that name! That is not at all what I thought it would mean. I think a Monday thread is a good idea.
I am not sure why you can't find recipes? There aren't enough added on there that I think it would be pushing it back to another page so soon. Why don't you try the Search function at the top of the page and try and find it that way. If you tell me what you are looking for, I can help you find it.

Anne, can you post the cheese puff recipe? That sounds interesting. I have 'cheese cracker' recipe if you are interested. I haven't tried it but supposedly is good for dipping, etc. Congrats on 2 more pounds!

Nikki, did you lose all 24 pounds on SS? You're doing so good!

Do any of you have some sample menus of what you have been eating?
