Scratch everythig I've said ablut how good Alvin was doing. Yesterday morning we had to take him to emergency and last night at 1:30AM the finished his surgery. They had to completely openhim up. Where the small bowel was connected had formed some adhesions and had blocked his bowels and they had been leaking for quite some while, and yesterday morning it burst.
He is in intensive care and will be for about a week or so, and the say that he will be in the hospital several weeks. While he's in intesnsive care I am at home trying to take care of my knee.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as this is liable to be a long drawn out affair.
Debkay is that what you went through? Howlong were you in the hospital? How soon after surgery did this happen to you?

Barb~ You and Alvin will be in my prayers daily. I know how critical it is when bowel products get into the system and I know that it will be a long and difficult road to go down. But please know that we are here for you in whatever capacity you need. And as Annie said, I mean that with all my heart.

Do they think this was caused from Alvin's bypass surgery?
Barb what I had was a little diffrent, I had a leak in the new pouch which was repaired the day after the original surgery. What caused my TOO LONG hospital stay was an infection which formed on my left lung, from the gasses from the leak. So mine is a little diffrent from Alvins.
Debkay Yes Alvin's problem is directly related to his surgery. When they took him in to do the surgery the did not think so, but when the got in there they found adhesions had caused a kink in the small bowwell, and for who know how long, everything he was eating was staying in the part of the bowels above the kink When it got as fullpacked as possible it caused the area where the bowelbypas was connected to blow apart. The repaired the connection as well as the could, but there was lots of abcess in his abdominal cavity. Gross enough for you?
