Coffee is ready - come sit on the deck while I make eggs and bacon. We will have to share with the Girls who are pretty frisky this morning. Poor sillies think Mummy will be home today!

Worked a very long day yesterday because we had an evening wrap-up meeting. I did get home for dinner, however, and DH did cook a good meal. Yesterday's crisis of the day was a phone call from our beef judge who has had a death in the family and can't come to judge on Thursday! Does anyone know anything about cows? We need you!

So glad to see so many folk posting. I read everything even if I don't comment. You chicks rock! And the Hotlanta pics are great.

I'll check in later from the Office - frequently referred to as the Oriface lately!

Good Morning Ruth and everyone else to follow......

Ruth, I'm on my way over... I like my bacon well done and the eggs "dead" - yolks broken and over hard!!! I guess you better make extra, 'cause I wouldn't want to have to fight with the girls for the bacon!!
About that judging, I'm afraid that the only thing i know about beef is how to eat it, , so I guess I wouldn't be too much use to you! I'll try to "bone" up tho!! (sorry, just couldn't resist!!) How's the water situation?

Well, I'm going to try to move myself to get to the treadmill for a bit.... maybe it'll kickstart my scale and tape measure to start moving too neither one has moved in several weeks, and I am starting to get really upset about it.....I might even have to give myself a good talking to, even tho I know that I have been journalling and not taking in any hidden carbs.... maybe I'm just not eating enough? nah... somehow I doubt that! Oh well, , sometimes it just s@#ks to be me! Have a good day everyone!

Good morning ladies,
Thanks for the pictures! You all are so beautiful and happy! I wish I could do the 4th but alas I am hosting my inlaws.

I booked a room at Disney last night. I have until Jan to cancel it. Boy I have one thing to say the prices are OFFENCIVE!!!! I now have to find a travel agent that can get me a better deal.

Anyway, today is an easy day. Both kids are at camp and I am off the hook until 4:30 when I have to PU older boy from tutoring. Little man has a play date. I plan to have a nice lunch with DH. And go in to a new store he has near work called KOHLS. Maybe I can find some back to school stuff for the kids.

Ruth try the aggie school? I hope you find a judge

Default good morning everyone!!!

ruth, the only thing i know about cows is that they give milk, have big brown eyes, weigh more than i do, and are good to eat.

does that make me a judge????

and you ladies are so busy. sam n rosies grandma.. it looks as if the chick meet on the 4th will be a relatively small group, but who cares!!!?????

and we'll miss you L. but you'll have fun as well.

and now, ladies. these morning walks are inspiring.

i came up with an idea for a chick meet next summer:

LET'S ALL GO TO RUTHIE'S FAIR!!!

what do you think???

let's see...what's on today's schedule? work. that little rat M hasn't turned in her assignment yet, and i found her goofing off a lot yesterday. her official boss is on vacation and left this nitwit in my care and custody... hmmmm M will have an INTERESTING day, to say the least.

and i have to work late, there's a conference call at 6 i have to run. no big deal, i just have to be somewhat charming at first and then keep my mouth shut!!! any bets??

and i'm going to try to get to the butcher to order a ham for the relatives.. lots of food, they love it, it'll last, maybe no leftovers. if nothing else, we can make some excellent high-protein soup out of it. a happy thing.

the cleaning crew shows up tomorrow, but mom's panicking about it already.

oh well. life goes on.

love ya all. have a great day.

I'm back!

Hi Ladies, we had a wonderful camping trip at lake Michigan. 5 days of camping at VanBuren State park was great. Although it did become extremely hot! One evening it was so hot we decided to go into town an eat dinner at an "air-conditioned" restaurant. Lake Michigan can be a great place for kids of all ages. We had some wonderful waves coming in that the boys just loved jumping into them. It was so pleasant, there were so many people enjoying the surf, old and young, and of all different shapes. I have given up worrying about how I look in a bathing suit and just decided to have fun with my boys.

I did have a fun weekend, but I kept having thoughts of missing out a trip to Hotlanta!

Jif, love your idea about Ruth's fair for our next meet. That way we could not only have a chickie meet, but we would also get to meet the famous Hershey and Lucy!

Hi Everyone!! Quick post this morning, DS and I are getting ready to go to the Pro-Am at the golf tournament up in the "big city". DH can't go because of work so I am in charge of finding the way--I am really not very good at this. Did really well with eating yesterday and got in my 3 mile Walk Away tape. Pretty quiet day in comparison to the way the rest of the summer has been. Did some MAJOR grocery shopping and that was about it. All of the housework I did has been undone already--geez why do I bother. Okay, better get going and get organized. Have a great day everyone!

Welcome back Jen!

I almost started the daily thread a little after midnight because I never seem to get here in the mornings! I posted a really long reply to yesterdays thread, but sometime while typing I lost my connection to 3FC and it disappeared in cyberspace.

I'm not losing anything! Maybe that has to do with eating ice cream twice this week. Also lack of exercise! I am going to try and keep 'work' (the unpaid job I love) to a minimum so I can get on the treadmill before I go to 'real work' (the crappy hard one that feeds the family)

Ruth, I read your water problem posts last night before I went to bed and then I dreamed I had rusty water coming out of my spigots.

Sam'sG, I will get on the treadmill this morning if you do! It's so hard to find the time, yet here I am sitting on my bum...

Hotlantians...you guys looked like you had SO MUCH fun! I wish I could have gone. You are a bunch of beautiful and funny people.

Sue, did you get back on track yesterday afternoon? I know a few carbs can really screw everything up for me. Today is a new day, we can both stick with it! (As long as I stay away from Golden Corral!)

Linda BC, that pizza crust you mentioned yesterday sounds almost like the Atkins rolls recipe that I posted a week or two ago. Can you post yours? I would like to see how close it is before I make another batch of rolls...I might make yours instead.
BTW, you have such 'get up and go' to your posts. You really make me want to stick to my diet when you write those pro-low-carb posts!

Off to walk and shower!

Oops, Jennifer.... I didn't make it onto the treadmill so I hope you did better than me!! HOWEVER, I promise to try to hit it tonight after I get back from my meeting - please hold me to it!! About those ice cream cravings: I had been having them for about 1 month.... nothing seemed to satisfy them.... nothing but ice cream would do...... so I got an ice cream maker and made Atkins ice cream...... IT WORKS!!!! (hey.. it isn't Ben&Jerry's New York SuperFudgeChunk, but, it's "legal" and it does satisfy the cravings. I now can have ice cream to have when I want it!!!

Goooooood Morning Chickies!

In a good mood this morning, dh and I did the grocery shop togther and went to Home Depot for some much needed stuff around the house. Right now I'm taking a break from all that travelling!

You all would have been proud of me yesterday--I mowed the front and back lawn by myself! And trust me, it's no easy affair--it took me 2 1/2 hours to finish! I was a total sweatball but I felt great. I've also kept a little secret to myself--I'm down to 201!!!!! It look like I'm going to see onederland before summer is through!! Long live Metformin and low carb!!!

Ruthie, I hope you are remembering to take breaks and put your feet up!

Samsgram, I am sooo jealous of you that you can have legal icecream! I want an icecream maker but I'm afraid dh won't go for it, after all we are trying to reno out laundry room!

Jennifer, are you back on Met? What dosage? I'm 1500 3x day myself.

Annie, sounds like that golf tourny is going to be a lot of fun! If you're unsure of how to get there, I often use www.mapquest.com just to chart my router because I am really bad with directions too!

Jenny, sounds like the camping trip was a blast! Vacations away are great, aren't they?

Jiff, great idea! All our American friends will save a bundle over the currency exchange and have a lot of fun to boot!

Oh L, I looked inot one of those Disney crusies and holy guacamole! I couldn't afford it if I s&%$ diamonds!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Pooky,
I am NOT going on the cruise. DH said he would kill himself first!( humm a thought...moment to pause for reflection...)
We are going to go with another family for 6 days in March. I just have a room, nothing else, I couldn't weed through the packages. My mother's travel agent is on vacation so I will see if she can do better than I did when she returns...then I will cancel the one I booked last night....off to get some kids...

Later,
-L

Talking Hi everyone!

I had some ho-hum news from the lab results today. The heart, liver, and enzymes are perfect! The thyroid is also perfect so that's not to blame for the flood. The rest is as follows:

serum iron 14 (should be over 35)
hemoglobin 8.9 (should be around 14)
blood sugar 84
total cholesterol 165 (should be under 200)
triglycerides 127 (should be under 149)
HDL 32 (should be over 40)
LDL 107 (should be under 100)

So, not too bad, not too great, but still (and this is the shocker!)
All improved by at least 100% since this time last year (pre low-carb) The doctor was in shock!

Even after my carb-fest when I first quit smoking, still not too much damage done. I am to start some iron and hormones and go back in 1 month to re-test. Can't wait to see the changes then!

You guys should all have your tests compared to your pre l/c results, you too will be amazed!

Well, off to fix dinner. DD is screaming for McD's and that is definitely out!

Sherry what great results!! now just to get the HDL up a bit more. try eating more healthy real fats. that should help.

L- I have never gone on a cruise but a friend has and she loved it I do not think that i would like it as my DH would hate it!!! he would rather go fishing and well i have gotten to the point tha ti like the peace and quiet too. (am I getting old?)

Pooky GREAT GOING I am not familiar with metaformin. i will have to look that up!

Jennifer no last night i was doing good till the evening but today is a different thing I am doing good so far and that is better than yesterday. Hey are you drinking enough water??? that will stall you fast. go for 1/2 oz for each lb you weigh I know that may seem like you are drinking too mcuh but give it a shot and see if that gets the weight moving. if the body is thinking it is being dehydrated it will hold on the water just like it will if it feels like it is being starved. so drink extra for a few days then see what happens.

Jenny your trip sonda like it was wonderful I doso love camping!! even with all the work it takes i find it relaxing.

Jif I love the idea of goint to Ruth's fair. I know I can make that I do not live too far!! how did the day with the Devine miss M did she have a good day?? LOL

Ruth what I know is that brown cows give brown mild and white cows give white milk... am i right? Actually I do now a farmer friend but she is too busy to make it up there. sorry But she may know of some people her family is from a long line of farmers adn they live up near watertown. so she may be able to get some one if still needed.

Sorry Sue, Metformin is what they give to us ladies with PCOS and blood sugar problems. Glucophage is the drug name you've probably heard before. Jennifer3fc is on it and so is Linda BC and I think you are too, aren't you goodforme?

Ruth, I have a great idea. We'll pretend that I am an expert cattle judge and your fair committee can pay my way from B.C. to your place. I'm pretty good at faking knowledge (heck, I've been doing it all my life. ) and how hard can it be to pick out the prettiest cow? We could have a nice visit too.
BTW, gang, you are probably giving our Ruth heart palpitations just thinking about all of us descending on her during fair week. Not that I don't think it's a neat idea. I do. I might even make it there myself if the timing is right. Do they have any B&B's in Delta, Ruth?
Gosh, Nasus, do you really mean it about drinking an ounce of water for every half pound of body weight? Just doing some rough math here (which is the only kind of math I can do) and it works out to 137 oz of water a day for me. Holy Niagara Falls, Batman! That's a lot of H2O! I'd have to hook myself up to a hose ..... at both ends.
Sherry, those results look pretty good to me. You are a poster gal for low carb and I hope you've made a convert of your doctor.
Samsgram what kind of ice cream maker did you buy? I have been thinking about getting one but I don't want the kind that I have to buy rock salt for. I also can't afford one like Emeril has on his show ...like "state of the art". Isn't there a kind that you can just mix up your ingredients and then put the whole mess in the freezer to churn away?
Pooky good for you doing all that mowing. I have just mowed ours once this year and it damn near finished me off. Talk about sweat balls! I think it took me three days to get back to a normal temp. Also, congrats on finally getting so close to breaking the "pound barrier". That's a momentous occasion and we will have a huge celebration for you hear in the Low Carb forum on that happy day. How about some of Samsgram's icecream for starters? yummy
Jennifer I already did post the pizza recipe. I have to say that it's best the first day when it's hot from the oven. I've had it nuked and it's not bad but the crust gets a little limp. I also think it may have knocked me right out of ketosis so I'm going to freeze my leftovers to save for another time while I get myself back in the "purple". Could have been the peanut butter binge I've been on lately too though. I haven't bought the stuff for a year because it's a "red light" food for me and sure as shootin', I couldn't leave it alone. 1 tbsp is never enough. So, no more PB for me either.
Well, wish I could respond to all the posts but DH is home wanting dinner so I'm outa here.

Pooky, I wanted to go on metformim reaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyy bad. My doctor, of course, said "I've never given it to someone without diabetes" and refused to. Duh, ever hear of insulin resistance? Apparently not. Side note, my gyno had never NEVER heard of PCOS before I went to see him. His solution? Hysterectomy. No thanks. I really need to see an endo, but we only have 1 in the whole entire state who takes my insurance. Dumb doctor probably wouldn't give a referral anyway. Oh, and the reason I got the cholesterol check was because I told him I was doing low-carb. He nearly had a duck! Then, almost a goose when he read the results. They never listen!
