Heigh Ho! Come to the Fair.
Gorgeous day 1 for the Fair ahead. We have had several major crises since Monday but ... the water is still not drinkable, we don't have a judge for one beef class this morning and the Petting Zoo animals did not all die in Tuesday night's fire!
I was on the money collecting route yesterday and saw a huge convoy of tractors, trailers and trucks taking bales of hay to Brockville to be shipped to Alberta. We have hay here in Eastern Ontario but Alberta is in trouble. It's just a drop in the bucket compared to what is needed but it is a start. It made me weep a wee proud tear over the generosity of farm folk. Some folk are sending money as well. This was an island of "nice" in what was otherwise a pretty shitty day!
So.....I'm off to the Fair for coffee with the carnies and then to give out the gate floats to the ticket takers.
If you are looking for me later, I'll be hanging out in my Office under piles of money......I hope. Raoul is booked as a cop for the bank run tonight.... in case you are looking for him.

Today will be filled with all the many things on my todo list.

The secret for me was to spend all day walking around a hilly golf course and have 2 glasses of wine with dinner.
I don't care what did it, but it was really nice to sleep that long. DS and I had an absolutely great time at the Pro-Am yesterday. It is always much more relaxed than the days when they are actually competing. We have one favorite golfer who is lefthanded like my DS. On my son's 11th birthday we went to this tournament for the first time--when this golfer found out that it was his birthday AND that he was lefthanded he let my son play a hole for him and putt in--which he made. Every year since then when he comes he makes a point of spending time and talking with DS as much as he can on ProAm day. He has missed the last 2 years and DS didn't think he would remember him, well guess what? The minute he saw DS he walked right over to him and picked up right where he left off 2 years ago! DS was so thrilled. He has boys about DS's age and they have a lot they relate on. I just think that this golfer is the epitomy of what a professional athlete should be like--what a treasure! He's from Kentucky so you Southern Gals get the credit for him turning out so nice. Anyway, great time and LOTS of good exercise for me. Even did well eating yesterday. I am staying away from the metal monster since it bit my head off last week! Just going to keep doing my thing and see what happens. DH has a managers meeting today and he has said that he is going to bring up the fact that they still haven't gotten him any help to replace his second man who left over 2 weeks ago. DH has been totally swamped and frazzled without the help==hope he sticks to his word and says something!
