  • Heigh Ho! Come to the Fair.

    Gorgeous day 1 for the Fair ahead. We have had several major crises since Monday but ... the water is still not drinkable, we don't have a judge for one beef class this morning and the Petting Zoo animals did not all die in Tuesday night's fire!

    I was on the money collecting route yesterday and saw a huge convoy of tractors, trailers and trucks taking bales of hay to Brockville to be shipped to Alberta. We have hay here in Eastern Ontario but Alberta is in trouble. It's just a drop in the bucket compared to what is needed but it is a start. It made me weep a wee proud tear over the generosity of farm folk. Some folk are sending money as well. This was an island of "nice" in what was otherwise a pretty shitty day!

    So.....I'm off to the Fair for coffee with the carnies and then to give out the gate floats to the ticket takers.

    If you are looking for me later, I'll be hanging out in my Office under piles of money......I hope. Raoul is booked as a cop for the bank run tonight.... in case you are looking for him.
  • Good morning chickies........

    Ruth.. I must have missed a lot of "news" yesterday.... my cable was out, so once I got home I couldn't get on line It sounds like things are pretty bad up there... what's this about a fire and petting zoo animals? I'm gonna have to go read and catch up on all of yesterday's news!!

    Today is another workday for me.... and I am so proud of me... yesterday I worked alone, and the schedule got crazy - there were 2 add-in patients, 2 double exams and 2 patients that the OB doc wanted to see/discuss/watch a scan before I let them off the table! AND one of the exams I had also do an endovaginal (which I have NEVER done by myself!!) because I couldn't find the fetal pole! I stayed calm, did my job and (best of all) never panicked!!! You have no idea how amazing that is!!! Foronce I can actually say (and mean!!) "hooray for me"!!!

    Have a great day, chickies!
  • Does he come in uniform??

    Linda yes that is exactally how much water I mean 1/2 oz for each lb. that is a goal to try for. I try for atleast 100 oz. some go for 1:1 that to me is too much. But the drinking will boost the weight loss, decrease the hunger feelings, increase your metabolism and help get your body out of a fluid retention mode.

    Jiff how did things go yesterday. I am curious. (he he) did miss M learn anything

    Ruth I marvel at the generosity of peole. they are so willing to give to others even when it is needed to help people that are worse off then they are. give them all a hug for me. If i had hay then i would donate it too. but they do not let me grow it here in cortland.

    Well I am off to exercise. I need to start getting back up early as i will need to start work early if he still needs me. (very cute Italian guy!!!) This is the guy that offered to go on a late night bike ride with me. HHHMMM
  • Good morning...
    Ruth if you are on me for DINK the other day I am on you for the date...It is the 25th not the 5th...lol

    I hope you are haveing a great time at the fair. I am also glad to hear the Raul is still working.

    I have the man coming this afternoon for the shower. He is supose to come and figure out what part of the shower has a leak. I had lunch with DH yesterday, and did a little Back to school shopping for the boys.

    A beautiful day in MA. A bike ride is on the books for today.

    Be well all,
    -L
  • The good news is that this is the last day of jitters. Also, it's been a hard week because I had to go off my anti-inflamatories as of Sunday so by Tuesday I was hurting BIG TIME, but tomorrow morning at this time, I'll be in the hospital, and hopefully already on my way to lala land Today will be filled with all the many things on my todo list.

    Hope everyone has a great day today, and ther rest of the weekend.
  • Good Morning Ladies ! ! ! !

    Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. I have read all the past posts and am now caught up on everybody.

    The last few days have been very sad for me. My dear friend and next-door neighbor (Renata) returned to Germany yesterday with her adorable children. WE hugged and cried all afternoon, and then they drove away. Her DH's job brought them here 2 yrs ago to work with a German company here. Recently that company sold out to an American company and they do not want any Germans working for them. His work visa was only specific to that particular company. So now they must return to Germany. He will stay until mid-August finishing up his work. It is so sad because they LOVE America. On 9/11 they even put several small American flags in their yard. Renata is the sweetest, kindest person I have ever known. I'm sad for me because I will probably never see them again. But I am also sad for her because I know what she is leaving behind and what she is going back to. They have applied for the visa lottery and I constantly pray that they will some day win that.
    OK, enough about my pity-party.

    Pooky~~~Hooray for you on reaching 201!!!!!!!! 199 is just around the corner. You go gal

    SamsG~~~Congratulations on doing that procedure for the first time. It's a great feeling, isn't it. And I'm glad you found the cure for your ice cream cravings

    Jiff~~~Good luck with the relatives. I'm glad it's you and not me. OK, well you haven't met my relatives

    Jenny~~~Nice to hear that your camping trip went well. Sounds like you had fun. And good for you on getting in the bathing suit and cooling off

    Sherrie~~~Congratulations on the wonderful lab results . Does you dr know why your hemoglobin is so low?

    Jennifer~~~I'll post an answer to your landscaping question later this morning (when I am full awake).

    Barb~~~I know that today will be difficult but the end result will make for a better life. I'll be praying for you that all goes well and that your recovery will be a breeze .

    L~~~Enjoy your bike ride on this beautiful day.

    Sue~~~Thanks for the reminder about drinking our water. Drinking water is a big problem for me. So,after I read your post, I lined up my daily amount of water (64oz), but I would like to drink more if possible. It really does make a difference.

    Well, off to get my last cup of coffee~~~and then it's WATER, WATER, WATER for the rest of the day.
    ~~~Sil
  • so much to say, so little time!!!
    what did i miss at the fair??? sounds very very scary, ruth..
    the divine MISS M didn't have the best of days. but she managed to ask questions!!! she submitted yet another sucky piece of work, which the editor and i marked up and it'll be yet another round of revisions. thank goodness there's no deadline for this!!
    she's beginning to see that she doesn't know a whole lot, and i've asked her to collect her research and a list of questions and we'll discuss. i can handle that.
    and last night, i visited mom's minister in the hospital and got home after 8 [and i'll try to post the rest of that story later], and when i got home, i nuked some dinner, and put two eggs on to hard boil them for deviled eggs this morning.
    and then, i called a friend.. and realized that the eggs had now been on FOR A WHOLE HOUR!!!! sorry ruthie. i KNOW you taught me better than that.
    there was still water in the pan, thank goodness. and this morning, when i cut the eggs open to devil them, one had a double yolk! what a nice surprise.
    [[[[[[[[[[[barb]]]]]]]]]]]] hope everything goes smoothly and old alvin takes good care of you and you have a speedy recovery. i'll be thinking of you.
    and of L and the shower man..
    so sorry to read that your friend has to leave.
    have to finish later. must go... errands to do this morning.
  • Morning Chickies!
    Just a calm day at work. I am now making plans for dear Darren's birthday coming up July 31. We are having a family get together on the 31 with family and a few friends for hot dogs and water balloon fights. We are doing a Spider Man theme. Next Sunday we will be taking a few of his friends to a water park and sleep over. Working on the invitations here at work, before I start my work day.
    Ruth, glad that the petting zoo animals are ok, the fire must have been scary.
    Samsgrandma, Hooray for you sounds like you had a day to be proud of at work.
    Sue, what's this about a late night bike ride?
    L, we are having some great weather in Michigan too. Cool evenings and 80s during the day. Enjoy your bike ride.
    Ageoldie, hugs, well wishes, and prayers for you. I know all will go well.
    2befit1, So sorry about your friend moving. My neighbor is also from Germany, Ute. They are wonderful people and are very into living in America. They are on work visa also. They expect to be here for as long as possible. They do not want to raise their children in Germany. I do love this family and I would hate to see them go. I love listening to her stories from home. I hope that you do see your friend again. Email is a wonderful tool, keep in touch with her.
    Jif, one hour eggs, and I guess they must be ok. I love finding double yokers. We grew up with raising chickens and we had a lot of them.
    Have a great op day.
  • I Slept Til 8:30 This Mornining
    Hi Guys!! Hey, I slept from 10:00 last night til 6:O0 when DH got up for work and THEN I WENT BACK TO SLEEP! The secret for me was to spend all day walking around a hilly golf course and have 2 glasses of wine with dinner. I don't care what did it, but it was really nice to sleep that long. DS and I had an absolutely great time at the Pro-Am yesterday. It is always much more relaxed than the days when they are actually competing. We have one favorite golfer who is lefthanded like my DS. On my son's 11th birthday we went to this tournament for the first time--when this golfer found out that it was his birthday AND that he was lefthanded he let my son play a hole for him and putt in--which he made. Every year since then when he comes he makes a point of spending time and talking with DS as much as he can on ProAm day. He has missed the last 2 years and DS didn't think he would remember him, well guess what? The minute he saw DS he walked right over to him and picked up right where he left off 2 years ago! DS was so thrilled. He has boys about DS's age and they have a lot they relate on. I just think that this golfer is the epitomy of what a professional athlete should be like--what a treasure! He's from Kentucky so you Southern Gals get the credit for him turning out so nice. Anyway, great time and LOTS of good exercise for me. Even did well eating yesterday. I am staying away from the metal monster since it bit my head off last week! Just going to keep doing my thing and see what happens. DH has a managers meeting today and he has said that he is going to bring up the fact that they still haven't gotten him any help to replace his second man who left over 2 weeks ago. DH has been totally swamped and frazzled without the help==hope he sticks to his word and says something!
    Jif, glad Miss M is perhaps seeing a little glimmer of the light at the end of the tunnel.
    2BFit, sorry to hear about your friend from Germany and her family's predicament. That is so sad. Fingers crossed that she will be able to come back some time. Glad to see you back.
    Barb, sending hugs and best wishes to you for tomorrow!!! Take care!
    L, good luck with the water leak and hope you get to do that bike ride.
    Sue, a cute Italian guy sounds like GREAT motivation for exercise.
    Samsgram, sounds like you did an absolutely TERRIFIC job yesterday--good for you!
    Ruth, I am not surprised that your neighbors are so generous--when I hear how much you do for your friends I can only imagine that the rest of your community is just as caring. Hope things settle down and head in the right direction at the fair today.
    Jen, I miss planning those birthday parties for my DS--I remember one was Ninja Turtles and one was Power Rangers--he would NOT be happy to know I told that.
    Pooky, Mapquest is my travel Bible--I literally would be lost without it.
    Have a good day everyone!
  • Morning!
    Taking a break from making phone calls, trying to get mom's bills and such redirected to a p o box...such red tape. Off sometime today to get crickets for the lizard (yum) and snails for the fish tank ...gosh when was the last time I cleaned that tank? Yoswer...are you sure there are fish in there?
    Barb, saying prayers for you!!!!
    Ruth! I think the fair is But I don't understand about the fires.
  • Oooh everyone's been inhere and busy! I'm a slug, I know, I woke up an hour ago, had a coffee, snuggled with my wee one and now it's quality computer time.
    I had good reason to sleep in though--I painted my entrance way and walls on the staircase yesterday by myself. After that, I helped dh relocate our satellite dish. He couldn't find a signal--spent 7 hours doing it and he got mad at me and said fine! you go point the dish. So I did and found the signal in 2 minutes! Dh was floored and bitter. Poor dh!
    Today we were supposed to go to Wasaga Beach (the largest fresh water beach in the world) but time, and money aren'ton hour side. I think a trip to our local beach this afternoon will satisfy everyone.
    Ruth..fires? Did I miss something? Boy am I glad this is your last year!
    Annie, that is really special that the pro golfer rememberd your son. What a wonderful experience for him!
    Peach, you have lizards?
    Jenny, If I lived near you I'd want to go to Darren's party! Sounds like fun!
    Jiff, looks like that little girl has lots to learn, keep riding her butt and she'll come around I'm sure!
    2bfit, sorry to hear about your friend leaving, but at least you can write and exchange pictures and such. Maybe even a visit?
    Barb, I'm thinking of you hon as you go into surgery tomorrow!
    L, sending good shower vibes your way *~*~*~*~
    Sue, I worked with a very cute italian guy before and I'm telling you, very hard to concentrate if ya know what I mean!
    samsgram, ain't it great when you get through a hard day smelling like a rose? Kudos to you!
    Hope you all have a great day!
  • I am taking a snack break…I am cleaning the boys rooms getting ready for the start of school. I have to see if they have enough school dress stuff. Little man has too many shirts. I think I will just put a few away for Disney in March
    We had dinner with the family we are to go with…DH asked if he could go to golf school instead…LOL he does not like them that much. So I guess I am going to just take the kids. That should make it a lot cheaper.
    Jif, glad Miss M is perhaps seeing a little glimmer of the light at the end of the tunnel.
    2BFit, I am sorry about your friend. My best friend moved to the Mid West(not Europe) 5 years ago. I was so lonely for a long time.
    Barb, Good luck tomorrow, you have done everything right to get ready so I know you will be in good shape!
    to do that bike ride.
    get
    Sue, can you send him my way so I can follow him on my bike?
    Samsgram, good for you!
    Ruth, have a good time today, and btw, since you picked on me for DINK the other day… may I remind you it is the 25th of July
    Jen, have a good time planning the party. I also wish we could go to the water park with you… the kids (and I ) love it
    Peach, HI!! Enjoy the beautiful day a little don’t get too buried under those papers
    Jiff: Keep that Miss M in her place!
  • Hi from SC ya'll!!
    Finally able to get back to my chcky friends! My baby brother had downloaded some web monitoring service which wouldn't let me access 3fatchicks! It kept telling me it was blocked due to porno material! OH MY! I thought maybe Ruthie was posting pics of Raul! Baby bro had a good laff and removed it for me!
    I only have a few minutes and I am sure I will not be able to read the many, many posts from the past week until I get home but wanted to pop in and visit a bit. Now mom has walked into the room and wants to know why I am on here instead of visiting with her! Awwwww, ok.
    Since I have to go sooner than expected please know that thoughts and prayers are with ya'll as and where needed.
    Time here has been very trying due to my mothers condition. I will admit to you all that my nerves are on it's last edge. But I do understand that it is due to medical conditions and am hanging in here. Jif~thanks for telling me about "sundown or sundowners" as it is definately applicable here. Having that understanding has been very helpful in my controlling my reactions due to her outbursts which are proving to be more "angry".
    Ok-off of here before I further offend her. Warm thoughts to everyone! I'll return home on Saturday evening and plan or NEED a few "patios" to relieve this stress so should definately be around on Sunday (unless dh has other plans! )
    Take care of yourself and know you have friends who care!
  • Hey ya'll!
    Just got back from the grocery store. Stocked up on tuna, a little bird told me to eat more! Besides, I love the stuff, I guess I'm jus weird! Anyway, I had to get some ice cream for mama (OMG!!) but I snuck and got her some sugar free. She'll never know the difference, and maybe I can sneak some!
    So I'm ready to chow down, but just real quick, had a fabulous day at work today, the aggravating boss was kinda funny today, must have been in a good mood. Maybe I was in a good mood? Anyway, can't wait for tomorrow, payday. That trip left me a little strapped!
    Ya'll have a good night, I'll check in with you later!
  • LOL i have puppu do g eyes when he works out. he is all lean tight muscles with a very tight butt. I have all I can do not to drool when he is working out. We jokingly siad some thing about taking a bike ride and well the best time for him is late at night when he gets off of work. traffic is low and the night is cool. soooo PHEW I need to take a cold shower about now!! I will have to go for that bike ride just to keep an eye on his butt!!
    other than thatl I am very curious about chickadee. how is she doing?
    ruth check in how is the fair doing?? I have heard about the fires in canada, and all over the country. they all are bad.
    Janice take care of MOM just keep in mind that whe the sun goes down so does she. That is very common. I am sorry to hear that you are going through that. And so to for your mom.
    Pooky leave it to a woman!!! Go girl!!
    Jenny I thought that the bike ride would have slipped with out any one noticing it.
    Jiff had a good laugh with your hour eggs!!! that is too funny glad you are getting the devine miss M in line, she may end up being good when you are done with her!!
    As for me I am ahing a totaly good day. I applied at the NH near me. I will not hear anything till monday or so but I have more. I am going to tell the Hospital that I am not willing to go thorough that kind of beurocracy to work. I have not even started and am hitting red tape. If they needed me then thay would hire me and find a way to train me. I was told they have almost all their positions filled but why are they calling my friends to work several times a week to do over time to cover people that are out. and this is the higest vacation time, so they should really want an experienced person. I never make demands but this time I am, and it is only for 1 week, I am an experienced RN they do not have to babysit me so what is their fuss?? If they wanted me they would do it. so if I am available come sptember then I will be there if not then OH WELL!
