Oh my goodness........ I just saw this thread. I just got back from vacation yesterday.........now I am sitting here with a little tear running down my cheek. You all are so very sweet and I am so touched and feel so lucky to have found a place with so many lovely, warm people who have welcomed me with open arms.
My husband did take me away for a nice vacation last week in the mountains where it was a little cooler. We rented a place with a kitchen so we could make our own meals. We went to a nice restaurant for my birthday and I had a great steak! never did that before!
In years past, I would have some sort of Italian meal - then felt guilty the whole time!
I really appreciate the welcome. It has been a challenging year for me/us - we weathered some problems in our marriage over the past year and I ate in response to the frustration. At the same time, my job has been in jeopardy due to a severe downturn in our industry.
In the day to day world, overweight people can sometimes be invisible..... ever stand at a counter waiting to be helped, while the clerk sees everyone else standing there - but YOU?
I only want the simple things in life -
to tie my sneakers without getting lightheaded
to be able to ride in a rollercoaster again
to recognize my own face in the mirror
to go for a long walk
to buy clothes in regular sizes
to feel healthy again
