Well - I can't believe I'm still doing this! Still trying to lose my fear of fat - I pour oil on my salads in shock! No more tasteless dressings! (but my sweet tooth is still kicking me!)
Anyway, I have some questions - I've just sorta been following my own plan - eggs, meats, fish, tofu, veggies, small amounts of whole grain grains and cereal - sugar free jello - lots of iced tea
I've been researching the Web for info about the various plans - Atkins, Protein Power, Paleo, Carbo Addicts, Dana Carpender's Plan, etc.
Do any of you recommend one of these plans over another? Are they all that different from each other?
Perhaps if there is a previous thread that addresses this - someone could point me to it?
I guess I could buy all of the books and compare - eek!
Oh - one more question - I've been doing traditional, lowfat, high carb plans for years (with mixed success) - can you really lose as much weight on this type of program as on other weight loss programs? It just seems hard to believe - I know, I know - perhaps I've been brainwashed! LOL
Hallelujah a kindred spirit. I did high carb low fat for years, i ended up gaining weight on it. Then I did HC/LF/starvation diet for awhile of course I lost weight but felt awful. Then I tried raw diet for awhile, that worked but I wasn't able to keep going on it. This is the one diet that seems to work for me. Though I have to admit, every time I eat fat or meat I visualize cholesterol clogging my arteries, and my heart giving up, and breast cancer, but I am getting better at this. I was brainwashed for 20 years, and it takes time to deprogram yourself. My biggest problem is no energy, I still don't know exactly what to do about that, I take potassium and magnesium but that doesn't always help. I have noticed that I have lost inches more then pounds though I still have at least 30 pounds to lose. I guess I am saying that the diet does work, but like all weight loss programs you need to be patient with yourself and give your body a chance to adjust and I think you will be pleased with the results. Good luck, Judy
Hi terri are you are girl who has been trying to help her mom and aunt??? if so I am glad you are back!! I have been worried about you and how you are doing. there is no right low carb. you need to go to the library and get one book try it for a hiwle if it works then stay with it if not then try a different one. the more strict ones are atkins them PP then on the looser ned are CAD/CALP and low glycemic index. paleo is i understand very hard to follow. or is that a different one?? I am not sure but sugar busters are also difficult to do the exact numbers with each meal and snack but if it works then you have hit the right thing.
I started low carb last year about this time. In the first 8 weeks I lost 48 pounds. After the first week, I had so much energy that it was unreal. Please understand, though, that I never cheated during that whole time...it was all or nothing for me.
I blew the plan after some unforseen events in my life and started back friday before last. I've already lost about 10 pounds. This program is doable for me.
Sherrie!!! Thanks so much for remembering my birthday. That was soooooooo sweet of you. The past couple years I've almost forgotten my birthday..........mmmm - probably on purpose! LOL
Anyway - had a great steak au poivre for dinner on my birthday. Never did that before!
