Kel - that's terriffic news about your mom.... continued thoughts and prayers go out: this time for a speedy recovery!

Jif ... rather than a specific restaurant, how about we plan to meet at a specific corner? We recently went to a show at a theater on St. Marks Place -- got there super-early and walked the area...... LOTS of great looking restaurants: including one that called itself "authentic" Texas Barbeque!!!! Thre also were Mexican, Japanese, vegetarian and too many others for me to remember just now. How does that sound? It's East Village - nice area....... I'll check w/dh to see if he remembers the exact corner...... even if he doesn't, it's a really nice area for walking, and NOT too far from the 2nd Ave Deli if you decide that you absolutely have to have corned beef or pastrami

Default OOPS.....

sorry Jif - forgot to answer ........

since Peachie is your younger sister, the answer is:

NO YOU MAY NOT BRING THE SLEEP APNEA MACHINE!!!!!

(can you tell that I'm a "younger sister" too???)

Okay Peach -- I'll expect the check when we meet (and I don't mean the lunch check!)

Talking Happy Friday everyone!!!!!!!

Kel, great news on mom! We all have been worried about you!

It's a great day, gotta take dd shopping for her gifts. She has to try on some clothes, so she can show me what she wants while we're there. Of course, I'll have to sneak out at midnight to get it.

Ya'll have a great day, I'll try to post more later!

Oh, Kel, your poor Mom. I hope she continues to improve. I think your nerves need a rest too.

Well, good news, my friends. In fact REALLY, REALLY FANTASTIC NEWS!!!
I went to my WW meeting to see how I'd done in my first four days on Atkins. Get this folks.
I LOST 5 POUNDS!! FIVE POUNDS!!!!!
I felt like a total fraud accepting my 10% key ring and when the leader asked how I did it, I told the group that my doc had recommended that I increase my protein and fat intake and reduce my carb intake. I didn't say I was on Atkins because I still have 8 weeks prepaid WW to get through. She accepted this anyhow but all through the lecture on how to plan summer menus I had to bite my tongue not to blurt out "ARE YOU NUTS?" One menu plan was melon, toast, non fat cream cheese and non fat yogurt. Whoooop-de-dooo. I just didn't have the heart to tell them that MY breakfast was 6 slices of bacon, 2 eggs in an omelet made with real cream cheese, fresh herbs and chives and filled with real cheddar cheese and topped with salsa. I didn't get hungry until 3 pm after that feast. I picked at the carcass of a deli bbq chicken and had a small salad while watching Y&R. For dinner I'm planning on butter sauteed shrimp with lemon, green beans & mushrooms with butter and jello & whipped cream for dessert.
Don't forget, fat is the best way to get into ketosis. It really does work.
I'm so happy I feel like I'm walking on a cloud. I am now into virgin fat territory. YIPPEEEEE!!! (well...sorta virgin. How about born again virgin? )

Hey, congrats on the 5 pounds, that is wonderful!!!!
I am not doing strict Atkins, but I am doing really good on my own little thing this week. I took a 2 day - 3 pound vacation at the first of the week, and I have lost it back already, and that was with a screw up of ice cream. Does anybody post menus on the LC boards? I think that would be good for a lot of people, including me! I started journaling my food yesterday and it helps to look back at what I did. I can really use ideas from others, I think it might help me stay on track when I think there isn't anything LC to eat for dinner..

Talking I'm back!

Tommie shops until I drop!! She tried on about 18 pieces of clothes and still wanted to look for more! Anyway, she is now the official Wal-Mart queen in our family, beating out me and my sister who previously held the title.

Jennifer, there are some menu threads pulled up and also a grocery list, so to speak. We do love our food, don't we?? Hope you get some good ideas.

Gotta go figure out how to work the digital camera, haven't tried it since I bought it, thought you guys might like to see Tommie on her proud day (Sunday) so I'll give it a whirl.

Great to see so much activity on the board tonight!

Just want to poke my nose in long enough to say I'm so glad to hear about your mom, Kel. What GREAT news! I can almost feel the relief in your "voice," and I know that feeling from my experiences w/my own mom's heart problems.

I feel so much better!
