Angry Menus Please

Hi,
I am getting ready to start low carb. I have about 100lbs to lose. I am really excited and ready to lose weight! But I need some help from you fine folks. I have read the Atkin's and Protein Power books and I think this WOL is right for me. I am a Carb Addict!! What I need help with is daily menus. I know myself and I have got to plan out daily what I am going to eat or I stray too easily.
I need foods that you can buy at the grocery store and I am a horrible cook. So although the occasional recipe may be helpful, I am looking more to convenience. Like store bought and restaurant foods. I have been checking out people's web pages and I have gotten so motivated just seeing the success, but most people do not post a menu.
There may even be a spot on this web site that you have posted your menus, but I have yet to come across it. So please I would greatly appreciate any ideas or words of wisdom in support of the WOL. Again, I am really excited and eager to get this weight off!! Thanks in advance.

Hey Ginger!

Your post really got buried under so I am pulling it up!

Welcome to the low carb board! I hope you will post often so that we can get to know you.

As far as menus go, a typical day on Atkins for me was:

Breakfast eggs and maybe a bit of diced ham

Lunch a salad with chicken and a bit of cheese

Dinner: Chicken, beef or fish and broccoli

snacks were: cheese, meat rollups and veggies

I'll admit that I was not very adventurous and did tend to eat the same old same old all of the time!

All the best to you!

hey there ginger. nice to meet you, even if you are a DUKE fan!!

somewhere buried in all these threads are actually a few menu threads. i'll try to find them.

for the non-cook, those ready made chickens are a lifesaver, as are bags of salad. deli meats and cheeses. roll them up in lettuce leaves with whatever other stuff you like on them, and you're good to go.

those little tuna salad kits. cottage cheese.. egg salad... chili

some folks make a bunch of stuff at the beginning of the week and freeze it. very organized.

but keep looking around... things will come to you. and post often.

Angry Hi Ginger!!!

How in the world did this thread get lost? I apologize-things are always so crazy around here that often I only see (and sometimes overlook) the obvious!

What Peachie said-you are always safe with protein!

What Jif said-there are so many menu threads that we usually post on a weekly basis-I'll try to help Jif pull them up!

I recently pulled up a thread called "what's in your LC fridge and pantry". I'll bring it back up but it should give you some good ideas for the types of foods that are great to keep on hand that you can whip up fairly easily.

Now, what Mama says - you are so correct in being prepared with preplanned meals or foods. That really is the key to success-be prepared.

Now, let me see if I can find you some good threads!

Nice to meet you and looking forward to getting to know you! Hope yu will join us on the daily also!

J

You guys are great and thanks for not being too hard on me about being a Duke fan, but I have been since I was about 12 and now I am 29. So I wasn't on the bandwagon the last couple of years. I think I'm getting the hang of what kind of meals you all are suggesting. Like I said I need a lot of help, and you guys are giving me a great start! How about already made hamburger patties? Cheese, bacon, no bun. Would that be okay?

Default Fake buns

I have a GOOD recipe for rolls. I will post it in the Recipes Misc section as soon as I dig it up. They are the Atkin's Revolution Rolls. It is mainly just cream cheese and eggs. It puffs up into something that tastes just like cream puffs that my sister made for French class or Home Ec or something when I was little. It doesn't TASTE like bread, but it is a very livable solution! I had chicken salad sandwiches with them yesterday and tonite we ordered pizza and I sliced two open and filled them with pizza toppings. It was great! I will go look for the recipe now. It has helped me realize I can stick with this, because my main downfall was bread!
