Hi Pooky - I've been up since 5 but the Site was not up - routine maintenance last night.
Gorgeous day here - we can see the sun after two muggy smoggy days. I have done a wee bit of gardening, written receipts for Fair donations and walked to the Office and back. Now I'll throw in one last load of laundry and plan the rest of the day!
My cousin Berna never showed yesterday! I guess life at the cottage on the Lake was just too good to leave. She may have forgotten. Anyhow it didn't bother me was I did accounting stuff while waiting.
Off for the first of my 4 allergy shots this morning. I take Pollinex4 for hay fever. It sure makes for a more enjoyable summer without hay fever!
Ahhh was a beautiful weekend, I enjoyed it very much. Took Grace swimming in her blowup Clifford pool and just enjoyed her.
Went to Walmart and bought a swing (big a cushiony one) for the patio so now you know were my @ss will be all summer LOL. Anyone want to join me for some iced tea....come on over.
And, Good Morning to all those who aren't here yet!
Today was the first day of summer camp for dd! She was excited, nervous, happy, etc all at once. Although, I have to say that I am just as excited for her as she is! Altho, DD#2 whined all the way home about wanting to be with her "sissy", so that wasn't much fun! But, she seems to be adapting well!
We had a very uneventful weekend around here. We made a trip to Costco (45 miles away!) and stocked up on all that stuff you seem to need when you move into a new home. I found out that there is some stuff that I'm used too, just isn't sold in the east (Johnny's Seasoning Salt) and some stuff has a different name (Hellmans Mayo is Best Foods in the west). It was very educational.
Right now with all this free time I need to go finish folding the piles and piles of clean laundry and put them away. Then a quick trip to the post office.
Morning Everyone! Been up quite awhile, but the site was down--boy did I hate that! This is the first place I go every day. Going to be another hot one out there--upper 90's and humid. I went out and gave all of my flowers a good drink this morning. We have actually been dry almost a week now and with the heat they were thirsty! DS is at football, but that is about all that is on the official agenda for us for today. It was a real downer of a day yesterday. First, the lady who owns the shop where I get my hair cut, I've known her since I moved here-like 20 years suffered an aneurism 2 weeks ago. When I was in last week for my haircut they said she was doing great. She died last night. I am still in shock. She is only 49 and in terrific shape, but then I guess that doesn't affect an aneurism. Then, my mom called yesterday and said that my dad was going to have an MRI on July 1st. He has been having knee problems--they did xrays-no sign of anything. He's been to an orthopedic doctor, a rheumotologist (sp) and now a neurologist. He is having weird things go on like his foot will lift up off of the gas pedal on that side by itself on that side. He is of course thinking the worst (that is where I get it from )I have no clues to give him that's for sure. Okay that is it for me-doing well eating and exercising, but when I weighed this morning the scale had stayed the same this week--what a bummer!
Jif, I'm from IL--too far to make any of the Chick gatherings so far darn it.
Southern expression a guy I knew from Atlanta always used was --"Honey, my get up and go done got up and went" which meant he was too tired to do anything at all.
My DD is taking me to the doctor this morning. if you don't hear from me for awhile, am in the hospital being bored to death! Don't be concerned~I'm not.
Morning all,
I am home for a little while as the shower door is going in today. Kids are off to camp and then have tutoring right after, and then to the Karate school to make up the test they missed last week while we were in NY. I had a great week in NY with my family. The downer was my 13 year old niece is borderline diabetic. Her mother had cancer for 3 years before she passed last May. The niece has been stuffing herself with food and sugar for all of that time and is now in a really bad place. There is not a lot I can do about it, but I wish there was.
I need to go to target today and get new undies for older boy. The ones he has lok a little binding, and I need to get the kids some mor t shirts. The ones they have are already stained and I hate that! I have to soak a few in oxi clean and that should be ok, but nothing that is acceptable for anything but camp and play.
Jiff- measuring life in dog food bags is fun!
Pooky- we will go see the movie on a yucky day, the kids are anxious to see it.
Jenni- you will figure out the brand names, Lowery’s is the brand of season salt here, I think they sell it at Costco.
Leen- my boy’s use to spend hours in the swing…lol I wish it built better arm muscles!
Annie- I hope your dad is ok, keep us posted
Tippy- feel better, I hope zookeeper will keep us informed.
Finally get back in here, seems I was fielding phone calls and then I got distracted (happens a lot! LOL). Doing LOTS of laundry today and general clean up.
Dh had a discussion on what he's going to do for holidays next month. he's decided that he's going to rip out the old drywall in my laundry room and put new up, fix the leaks and get a floor in there. God love that man! It smells musty and gross in there now and it was that way when we moved in. The time has come to do something about it!
Beautiful morning here and the temperature is just perfect! not too hot and not too cold, a wonderful day to be outside. I think the front lawn needs to be mowed, or even a bed weeded??
More good news to report--I ahe been avoiding the scale like the plague because I wanted to see for myself how much I have *really* lost. I have lost 12 pounds total since January and I'm thrilled. I know it doesn't seem like much but I learned that when you have PCOS, the weight just doesn't come off easily. Nevertheless, the doc assures me this is normal and quite frankly I'm happy because I can fit into a size 18 skirt I haven't fit into for a long time!
and i didn't count you out... you need to take your time getting your stuff ready.
and after talking with some folks this weekend, i have another thought for you. teenaged girls. the ones at risk of anorexia, cycling. they don't understand the need for proper nutrition, they think they're fat.
some are athletes, but if they're not lucky enough to have an involved coach who understands nutrition, these girls tend to lose muscle mass because they have to stay at a certain weight.
what a great opportunity for a diet expert to help them..
i'm so proud of you.. you're off and running, and not to boy scouts this time!!!
Jif, how is your friend doing? Please keep me updated as you can.
Am I the only one on the west coast? I am jealous that you all are getting together!
My oldest son is giving me fits lately. I love him dearly, but I could wring his neck lately. Talk about stress. I promised myself I wouldn't let his antics goad me into stress eating. I really did try to stay out of the break room today. I did pretty good at first, just drank tea and ate string cheese. But I finally gave in and ate a candy bar. I keep swearing I am going to stay away from sugar, but am really struggling with it lately. I never really thought I was much of a sweets eater, more a food eater, but lately I sure do want sweets. I'm sure I'll get it under control soon.
My daughter graduates from 8th grade on Thursday, so we are having a house full of company. Big fun. Trying to work two jobs and get the house clean and deal with the monster boy. He's actually kissing up today, to make up for being such a horror yesterday, so all is not lost. At least he has the good grace to realize what an absolute horror he was.
Those of you with toddlers enjoy them. They are way cuter then!
