Default Sample menus - please post

I am interested in seeing what low-carb days look like (meals). My dh has low blood sugar & so it would benefit him. Do you diet too, or just lose weight by cutting out carbs?

Are there any links describing these two diets (CALP & Atkins)?

Thank you!

Angry Wow SA&J mom ~~

I am sure we have alot of info to share with you.

First I would like to encourage you to go back to the main forum....under the Low Carb section you will find Frequently Asked Questions and I believe that there is a thread there for Atkins vs Calp with some terrific info and detailed info.

Your question about dieting. Well, I guess I would be best to tell you that as with any other woe (way of eating) we are concious of calories. I personally feel that in understanding our body types and requirements that whether it be low carb or low fat, we must still be aware of our caloric intake. As well as excercise.

I can post a normal daily menu plan for me (which is CAD/CALP) but may not be applicable for your woe plan.

Breakfast

2-3 black decaf coffee
1-2 eggs/cheese/bacon

Lunch
salad with grilled chicken or tuna / often cheese chunks
ice tea w/splenda or water w/lemon

Dinner
salad/protein (meat-chicken-fish) usually 2 veggies BUT as I do CAD I do have the option of a starchy (rice, potatoes, etc.), or fruit if I would like

Water = daily intake is at least 10 - 16 oz glasses
Diet Pepsi's = usually 1 or 2 (these do not seem to bother me-others seem to have aproblem)

I'll try to find the "what's in your fridge" thread. It shares much more of a variety of plans.

I wish you the best of luck and much success. Hope to see you around more often and looking forward to seeing you on the daily that is more like a hang over the back fence and chat type of thread!

J

S A&JMom -- I do Atkins - I've been doing induction since 4/15..
a typical menu for me is:

(I CANNOT give up my morning coffee, so I still have it!)
Breakfast - coffee, cheese omelet
Lunch - salad w/can tuna mixed into it
Supper - chicken cutlet w/ steamed veggies
snack - 1/4 - 1/2 Atkins Advantage bar; also, SF jello

once I got past the first several days, I lost my carb and snacking cravings (amazed the heck out of me!!!) for the most part.... I also find that I have more energy.....

I hope this helps.... it's working for me. I have been at this now for 9 weeks and have lost 15 lbs...... not a ton, but at least it is a steady 1 lb/week since the 1st week when I lost 7 (shocked myself!!) Good luck!

I have to say that I eat very simple. I love my eggs and have been pushing th tuna like crazy for the omegs 3 value.

So my meals all look the same for breakfast and lunch

2 eggs with 1/4 c of fiber one

1 can of tuna with Miriclw whip light and about 1 oz oc cheder cheese ut up and heated in the micro tillnice and hot.

dinner is where my varience is

today I had hot dogs and salad (BS picnic)
I have hamburgers in a bun of lettuce leaves and all the dressings
western eggs
meatloaf
steak
pork
chicken and well any meat and loads of veggies
I love brocolli, cauliflower, brussels, okra, and well you name it I love it.

by the way looking for a delicious way to marinade steak when you think you have had all the steak you can eat ....

try a little soy sauce, steak sauce, and meat tenderizer, oil, onion, and garlic. it sure makes a nice change. I am not one who likes steak sauce but this way makes a nice change.

the other thing i have done is place a pork roast (one with some fat) with a bit of bbq sauce and put in the oven on low heat or in the crock pot when you are dne then you get a delicious pork that is all falling apart, and tastes like a BBQ pork roast!!!

Angry hEY sUE ~~ I'm like you !!

A very simple eater.

I don't mind if I'm eating leftover meat from dinner for breakfast. I am not one that needs to have certain veggies / meat, etc., in a certain time frame!

I do not mind if I have bacon and eggs for lunch. I guess that is one of the wonderful things about this woe I enjoy so much ~~ the flexibility to apply it to our real life.
