Default Atkins Question

Hi,

How much weight can someone who weights 175 pds expect to lose on induction?

I don't want to stay on this plan forever but, want a good kick start. I am getting really frustrated with eatting really good and not losing a pd. By reading the induction information, this sounds doable and maybe give me a little push in the right direction.

Thank you

Honestly many have lost lots on it and many have not lost but a few lbs. The majour weight loss is in the fluid not fat. by low carbing you tent to rid the body of glycogen stores in the liver and muscles. they have the tendancy to relase fluid. so when you go "off" this plan you regain teh glycogen stores and regain the fluid. so the initial loss is only a few lbs of fat and much water. it is as you continue through the plan that your body slows down the loss (stoped dropping the fluid) and gets down the the slow process of fat burning. if I were you I would dothe plan for 1 month. that is only 30 days. give it a heart felt chance. and do not cheat if you go into this with the thought that it is temporary then you will not be able to say on it so good, then when you go off like any other plan you tend to go right back to the bad eating and regain all the fat back. so what about a plan like start off with atkins induction to give your self a goose then plan on CAD or a WW/lowcarb??? that is much more reasonable.

But honestly I do not think that you would want to go back to eating the "old way" you do not gain the health benifits of jumping from plan to plan, not do you get the body's adjustment to the woe. and your body will not respond nicely to you doing that. It remember what you do. any time I fall off the wagon it is harder and harder to get back OP and I find that it takes longer each time to rid the fluid that I have gained from a long carb load. so if you do not want to stick with atkins or low carb and just need a jump start I would suggest then to stritly wath what you eat, kick up your exercise a bit and count not only your calories but your fat and try to add a bit more fiber. another question is are you getting enough calories??/ many people think by cutting way down on their caloric intake then they should lose more. well that is not the case. if you drop your calories too low or eat in 1 - 2 meals then your bdoy goes into a lower metabolism mode. the all the caolires will be stored. so eat six small meals and make sure that you take in atleast your minimum caloric intake. please if you have any more problems just ask.

I'll add my personal experience, reminding you that everyone is different. I did the Atkins induction at 255 lobs and lost 11 pounds in the 2 weeks. I then switched to the Carbohydrate Addicts diet and lost pretty steadily at 1-3 pounds per week. Like you, I wanted a jump start to encourage me, but the Atkins was so very strict for me and I really liked being able to have those starchy foods CAD allowed.

Hockey chick (love the name by the way; I'm a huge hockey fan):

Some people lose 5lbs, some lose 20-I lost 13 on induction. It's a pretty good deal. I couldn't tell at first how much i'd lost, I didn't own a scale, but my clothes felt different and I had SO MUCH energy, i was annoying (ask MamaJ

Try it out, stick with it-let us know how you are.
