..... in Canada, May 20 which is Victoria Day. Remember her? Chubby was IN then. It used to be a day for parades and fireworks but now it's mainly a weekend for starting summer officially! We have the furnace on this morning but I have great hopes for Monday.
Lucy was intellectually challenged at Obedience Class yesterday. She made me realize what a puppy she is still - the youngest in the class which I keep forgetting. She did a submissive pee when the instructor called her - that's a no-no when she hits the show ring as one *****y woman loudly stated. Even meet someone whom you disliked instantly, gave another chance and then found your first impression was right? This broad is the only other person in the class with a purebred dog bound for the showring and is very good at put downs. Her damned dog is 18 months and I'm wondering why he has not been shown yet. Must ask her next week. Oh yes - she is skinny and drives a Mercedes. Let's hope she has a really lousy sex-life and rotten kids! I tried to avoid her yesterday but she seems to think we are kindred spirits! Wrong!
No big plans for today except dabbling away at more garden cleanup - I am about 6 weeks behind. Usually now I have seeds in but we are not even tilled! So much for fresh green beans for July 10! Hope you Americans have lots planted to ship north.
Tried the Lesley Sansome tape - she sure keeps you moving. I learned not to do it with the dogs around - they think I'm playing and jump up. I also refuse to do it with DH in the room. "Why are you stopping?" he says, sitting on his skinny butt pretending to read! My legs get wobbly but I know that will improve. So he's outta there from now on.
I've been losing OK (for me) on CALP but 2.5 pounds popped on sometime during Thursday night. I must have been dreaming about sandwiches and pie at a Church supper. It's the usual salt = water retention. Sure wish it would leave as fast as it arrives. More water glugging today.
I have been missing in action lately, but have stopped in to lurk from time to time. You know, sometimes you just get off on another track and aren't paying attention to food or diets or any of that stuff? well, that's how it's been.
But I wanted to stop in and say hi, I'm alive, and doing OK. No weight gain, maybe a pound down, even. Work and reality have been too much lately, but I am working on putting it on the back burner.
DH and I are headed for a 2 week vacation (South Florida, maybe a few days in the keys) and will be back June 2. He hasn't taken vacation since last summer, and we are really looking forward to this. Of course, that means 2 weeks of "togetherness" which is not a simple thing- 2 weeks! Just us! 24/7! Hmmm... as my friend said this week, "have you really thought this through?
I do know that being with DH for 24 hours a day will keep me eating fairly healthy, and we tend to be active, so I should do OK weight wise, better than if I was alone.
So, hi to everyone, I'm glad to see everyone healthy and busy and active, and quite a few pounds being lost! Stay well, and I'll "see" you in 2 weeks!
Hi, Dottie. Great to see you! Have a super holiday! And please check in when you get back - this forum is not just about weightloss, as you know.
(((Dottie)))
Good Morning all -- I must apologize here: I began coming to this board and then disappeared!!! The work schedule was nutzo - many apologies to all of you.
Late last night I was finally able to get back here and to at least try to catch up with what has gone on.
I can't reply to all of the posts that I wanted to (they are slipping out of my tiny mind as I post!! ) but I must say that you ALL are inspirational!
Your ideas, AND (very much especially!) your losses are helping me to keep on keepin on, even when the scale shows little or no movement....... thanks all!
Now, I will TRY to be more regular in my visits and posts - I promise.......
Thanks for your continued support, even tho you all don't even know me yet.
Just loving my Saturday morning giggle, all about a skinny ***** having lousy sex in the back of her Mercedes with her bratty kids jumping up and down on the hood! Oh, I forgot to mention her untrained dog howling and peeing during the whole thing! I swear, SOME PEOPLE!!!!
I wanted to work in the yard today but it is a torrential downpour day here. Guess I'll have to clean house instead. Bummer!
Ya'll have a great OP day and I'll check in with you later!!
It's Saturday morning and I'm at work. Saturdays are a slow day for us. Just DH & I and usually one other employee. And we're only open until 2:00PM. today I have a wedding shower to go to right after work (it starts at 2 and is on the other side of town, so I'm not sure if I'll leave here early or be late to the shower).
Anyway after the shower I'm going by to pick up DIL and grandson Nathan (age 4) to plant my flower beds for me. Since I just had knee replacement surgery 2/1 I can't get down on the ground now, so they agreed to help. Then I'll feed them dinner. My son will come over to help when he gets off work about 7:00.
Well this is day 6 fo what I was calling induction, but after reading other posts and other internet infor, I went back to the Atkins book and discovered I really wasn't doing the REAL induction phase at all. BUT...I've lost 4 pounds so I don't know if I'll try to follow the induction strickly next week, or keep on doing what I've been doing. So far what I've been doing has been fairly easy and as they say "It if ann't broke, don't fix it" The only problem is that I haven't been able to go to sleep at night, and that's beginning to be bothersome, but I've never heard anyone else mention that. I'm I the only one it affects?
Good afternoon folks! Well, here it is the May long weekend and it's terrorist season, oops I mean TOURIST season. Had the first official "I'm really lost can you help me?" tourist by first thing this morning as I was getting ready to mow the lawn. Where I live is basically vacation land for everybody and thier dog--even the stars come here! Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have a cottage up here, Shania Twain, Tom Hanks, and a bunch of other stars. I saw Bob Hope in town one time. Main reason for all the hooplah is it's dang gorgeous up here. I feel really lucky to be a resident but I have to admit I kind of go into hiding from the May long weekend to Labour Day weekend. It gets to be too much for me. This town has 14 000 permanent residents and swells to over 500 000 over the course of the summer--no joke! The usual 3 minutes it takes to get across town can take about 15. The joys of living in Muskoka....
ageoldie, yes, it is very common to not get much sleep or to feel cold when doing a low carb program. Your body needs to adjust to the diet you are on and when it does, you'll feel much better. Take a sleep tab to get you through the next few nights and see how that goes.
Ruth, OMG what a vision she is! I think I know her or at least half a dozen like her!
Dottie! Nice to see you around love! You just come on in any old time you can
samsgrandma, I don't know if it is the diet or age but I certaily subscribe to the "I can't remember what I just read" club too!
My showtime rotisserie chicken is done, so I have to keep this short. I love reading your posts. They make me laugh, they inspire, they educate and they make me cry. I wrote a story in the Mirror on the frig post as a result of reading your posts. This forum keeps me honest and lets the feelings flow. I hope it translates into weight loss...it has definately translated into weight off the shoulders..if you know what I mean.
Had a quiet day around the house, quite chilly here for May 59 was the high I think...what happened to Summer!
My sisinlaw came by on her way through town and spent the night, she and i stayed up til 2:30am drinking beer and chatting, felt pretty crappy this morning
Oh well does not happen often so I won't feel too guilty!!!
Cooked a roast in the rotiserrie, it was good, and the dogs loved the leftovers!!
Got church planned for tommorrow and Sunday school for the kiddies....I think DH is getting concerned about me, I told him I was going to the early service and the 6pm service, he gave me that "who are you and what have you done with my wife?" look!!
It was quite hysterical!!
Anyway, I am still doing the visual on the skinny chick with the mercedes and the dumb dog. Tooooo funny.
Been up quite awhile, got muffins in the oven for the kiddies, laundry in and had a shower in preparation for church, still looks rather gloomy outside but hopefully it will clear up.
What a great board this is so full of info, I sat donw last night and caught up on all the threads, Giggles I am running out this morning and get the magazine!!
Bytheway RUth I am in a pink robe with a towel on my head, quite a sight I am sure!
Sheesh, Scooby2! Hope it's not as cold there as it is here or that towel will freeze on your hair! We are 20F this morning! I am off to Church shortly and intend to speak to Management about it.
Anyhow, it's sunny and I am sure more gardening will get done today if I can pry DH away from the golf on TV. That has to be the most boring sport to watch - but it IS quiet!
The girls and I will try a double lead walk this afternoon. The Village is starting to hum as the summer people arrive. Half of PA is here during the summer! Of course everyone is crabbing about the cold weather.
Have to whip this house into shape--beautiful skies outside but a nasty frost killed off my tulips! Grrr..... Will I EVER get my plants inot the ground?
Sorry it's a quick one but my wee one is driving me mental!
Good Morning everyone......
Here the sun is shining beautifully and it appears that the gale-force winds we have had for the past couple of days have finally cleared out....... now if the temperature will only cooperate!
I want to wish everyone a lovely day.... today I am finally getting my mother's day present: my daughters are taking me to see a Broadway show "Surviving Grace" (about mothers and daughters --- gee, might there be a message in there????? ) and to lunch (hopefully to a place where I can stay OP with my atkins), dh is grandbabysitting.
I probably won't be back here until late this evening, so I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I have to get back into the routine. So, have a nice day all.
Yesterday at the wedding shower I ate a small piece of cake, a few pieces of fruit. some nuts and a glass of punch. That was the bad news The good news is that we had a reception for the graduating seniors after church tonight. I went, gave the seniors my gifts and looked at the buffet table filled with loads of different sandwiches, chips and a wonderful looking cake. I looked at my DH and said "I'm ready to go if you are" Came home and ate my OP meal I'm proud of myself.
