  • It's nice to have a few minutes to say Hi in the morning. I am hoping to do well today.

I have been going into work early in the morning and working a little late, and 2 saturdays(just a half day this weekend.) But I miss my quiet time in the mornings to putter and just sit. So today I am going in late, I have a load of wash in the washer and finished folding the one in the dryer. I am making some turkey salad for lunch, and have time to empty the cat box. Simple pleasures!

Has anybody read the Ann Louise Gittleman diet "The Fat Flush Plan?" Ruth, weren't you going to buy it? I like Gittleman because she was the first person I saw writing about needing "good fats" to loose weight. And she is a lowish carb person- no sugar, no white flour kind of nutritionist. I was just wondering...

What else? Pretty quiet here, we are settling into new quarters at work- a new building on the same site as the old- it has some problems as you might expect in new construction, but overall is very nice. For about a week, I've forgotton how awful my job is. It's been fun having new furniture and big windows and everything is all clean! Wonder how long that'll last!

Well, that's it with me. Nothing exciting. Maybe I'll start a menu thread. we haven't done that in a long time. I like coming home at night and seeing what others are eating!

    have a good one!

  • Thanks, I needed that caffein!

    peach...who is still swigging
  • Good Moring Dottie and Peach and all those to come!

The moment is at hand--my upper cabinet doors are finished! I can't wait to get them installed and see how they look. Tonight is the big night!

Been working lots of hours lately and I'm going to be doing a two week straight run starting next Monday so I had better be prepared--I am going to be teaching a couple of circle times and creative play--the first time in about 4 years. Hope I'm not too rusty!

Not much new to report--still following low carbish and doing very well. Today I am going to the gym for some real exercise, not the running around the playyard after kids kind. Then off to the daycare to confer with a teacher and then to pay for a field trip Miree is going to be taking next week with her class. They are going to a maple sugar bush! I loved that when I was a kid and I hope she loves it too!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • broken wing typing
My doc pal Bob dropped by last night and gave me heck. He drove to Brockville Hospital and brought back a proper sling for me. The one I had was more of a loop. Anyhow I am now really restricted and type with the left only. Will probably end up with one really smashed boob after this is over. May have to get it fluffed up by Raoul.

Dottie - did get Fat Flush but got Sugar BUsters from the Library at the same time. Never read two books at once if they deal with the same subject! The plans are quite similar. I will thoroughly read Fat Flush this week - I promise!

Typing is a drag but I will be lurking so be good.
  • Good morning ladies! I am avoiding work so I thought I would pop in and say Hi!!

Not much happening here it has finally stopped raining, though only for the moment I guess.

DH is heading to Bristol for the NASCAR race this weekend so I will be alone with the darling ones. We have a birthday party on Saturday so at least we will get out of the house.

Skipped the Y this am but will go the rest of the week. Today is the day I get the food thing under control. I was so miserable yesterday, I have been eating terrible and boy can I feel it.....

    Have a great day everyone!!

Menu thread is a great idea!!!!
  • Good Morning To All!!
Well I knew it was going to happen and it did!! That rum and coke the other night has me dragging my butt today!! I guess it could also be all the activity in the house too

I have so many meetings this week .. and I find it so difficult to fit in proper meals .. can anyone suggest a good protine bar or shake?? One that I can buy in Ontario I don't know if its a good idea to have those everyday but they do fit into my busy life! My DH pointed out to me that although I am always on the go .. its not alot of actual moving .. to the car .. out of the car .. to the meeting .. not an actual walk! My poor dog is really missing the walks .. so my goal for the rest of the week is to get my butt off the couch as soon as the kids leave and get out and about!!!

Anywho .. have tons of paper work to do .. after all I did finish making my cardboard guitar to present to my grade 4 class last night .. now its on to adult stuff Darn kids just cant use a hot glue gun And I have to admit .. it was fun

    See ya all later
  • Hi Everyone!

Wow! Lots of late workers here. I used to do it too. Some days I miss it horribly, especially when the sahm blues set it. But, then one look at these angelic faces and I'm hooked.

Yesterdays conversation about discipline really opened my eyes and gave me hope! I have two absolutely wonderful babies and at times I think I'm rather harsh with them, but you know what? They are respectful. We've taught them to speak their minds, but they can't cross that line to mouthiness. And, I've endured those looks from passer-bys, because this can become a very fine line. I flicked my oldest in the mouth in Target once a couple of years ago and a woman actually had the audacity to claim that I was boardering on abuse -- while her teenage daughter stood nearby with so many holes in her ears, mouth and eyebrow, that I felt compelled to tell her to mind her own damn business. Sometimes, you look at these people and wonder what in the world makes THEM the expert about MY kid!?! On another note, my husband and I used a "harness" on our oldest during a trip to Disneyland and endured numerous comments and looks then, too. Again, who are these people to pass judgement on MY parenting ... I wasn't taking a risk of loosing a toddler in a crowded theme park!

    OK....off my soap box! Sorry.

Today my friend and her new little baby and her son are coming to visit for two days. They will be back in about two weeks for a week stay and we are planning a trip to California to take the kids to LegoLand and Sea World! That should be fun! I really enjoy Southern California!

Other than that, nothing too high tone. Dh is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life after he retires from the Coast Guard in 18 months. He'll be 38 and will have plenty of time for a second career. He's thinking of teaching, but his plan changes daily, so we'll see! LOL! Figuring out where we are going to live seems to be in my court. I have a whole country to choose from and can't seem to make a decision, because I just haven't seen enough of it! Might just end up right back here in Lacey!

OK. This has become a mini-novel, so I'm going to mosey along. I hope you all have a great day!
  • Hello everyone!!
What a fantastic day at work! Well, I'm being a little today. I got 2 of the biggest moaners, whiners, and get away with stuff-ers (?????????) in HUGE trouble. He he he. It's nice not to be the only one!! Anyway, what they did was going to come back and bite ME in the butt, so I had to tell someone and get it fixed. Pardon my glee!!

Just laundry and dishes tonight, dinner is smelling wonderful in the crockpot right now! Hope you all have a wonderful evening!
  • Hi Ya'll
Just a quick in and out this evening, I'm afraid.

DH has been sick for about six weeks and has spent the last few days having tests run to check for high blood pressure (167 over something). As well as these damn Tx allergies.

DD totalled her car out Friday night with all grandbabies in it-spent until 2:30 a.m. at the hospital. She is having headaches, the two boys are okay, one DGD had damaged ear cartiledge and other DGD has sprained neck. Thank God they survived as the car spun around three times. Now, after many thanks to HIM, we must figure out for another vehicle so that she is able to do daily errands (on top of what I can do) as well as get her to school, counseling, etc..

Good news is that one of Stephens court cases got thrown out yesterday -- Wonderful news, now we wait for the jury trial in April for the BIGGIE trial. Many many prayers needed there.

Spent the first five hours of today fighting for grandbabies to go to school. I have scratches all over my arm from DGSon refusing to go and having to physically pick him up with aide of teacher, and running three of them to different schools after heart felt talks only to be making the rounds again (separately) picking them all back up since they went to the school nurses claiming to have tummy aches.

Good news is that we FINALLY made a connection that led me to sources with wonderful information for counseling and other government assistant programs that may be available for her and my babies. After so many months this is such a relief

I'm so sorry that I'm not replying to everyone now. I truly am just sneaking over as everyone is eating dinner.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening with wishes for Prayers to be answered and Angels with you.

J~~~ who is extremely stressed out & wanting a patio drink
