Back from a few days in the great state of Maine. Love it there, and I always come back relaxed. Unfortunately, my friend got a bread maker for Christmas and is baking like crazy- had quite a bit myself, but no damage to the scale. But glad to be back to my own kitchen!
Work is settling down to normal speed after a hard month. I have some small projects, but have a "real" vacation in sight- end of Feb- and that is keeping me going. Diet wise, not too good, but I am always grateful when I can at least maintain and not gain!
I am up to my arm pits in valentines day cards, but the end is in sight! I should have just bought a box!
Saw a new lower number on the scale...very exciting and I am looking forward (relatively speaking) to tomorrow's weigh in!
Went with dh yesterday to look at treadmills and I am wondering where the heck I am going to put the thing so that the little guy does not try to dis mantle it!
Plan for a walk today unless I stub my toe, get cramps or a lobotomy or some other really good excuse...hey! it could happen!
What a dumb way to wake up! For some reason I poked myself in the eye as I was wakening this a.m. Duh! Very sore and bloodshot but I can still see just fine. DH still looks about the same. Anyhow, it seems to have stopped bleeding but I sure look weird. Maybe my piano teacher will be nicer to me this morning out of sympathy - or fear of vampires! Wish I had some false fangs.
Today is Ash Wednesday and I was planning to fast until after Church tonight - no big deal, just to see if I could do it. However, felt sorry for myself and had coffee and breakfast. I felt even sorrier for myself after doing the Brownie Patrol - it is very cold again today. Lucy can now open the kitchen door and was just delighted to meet me at the bottom of the stairs this morning. She never knows whether she wants petting, a pee or a play first thing - so silly. So out we went! The cold does not seem to bother her - she parks her butt on ice!
Piano this morning and then to the gym to CANCEL the balance of our membership. DH has not gone since before Christmas and my eczema is still too bad to use the pool. We are still vacillating over where to put the treadmill we intend to buy. Darn small house! If we stall long enought, the weather will be better for walking and we can forget the treadmill.
After music, I have a 12:15 dental appointment for a "filling upgrade". I assume that means replacement! Then I will go off to Brockville for a small shop - I want to get a prime rib roast for Valentines Day. It will be just the two of us (plus 2 dogs) but I have yet to see leftover prime rib go to waste around here.
I met regarding my new "job" for Habitat for Humanity yesterday. I will be coordinating the project which is major! Sure learned a lot of things I did not know about HFH and also got a fix on some of the different personalities of the other board members. Working with volunteers can be very difficult - you can't just fire them! LOL! I did not wear panty hose but two of the women were pretty spiffy in blazers and leather pants! I hate skinny women! Hey, this may be an excuse to buy more clothes!
Better get into the tub and changed for music and the rest of the day. You chicks would laugh at my Brownie Patrol outfit- heavy socks, red clogs, long flannel nightgown, turquoise robe over that, green coat over that, red hat, red gloves, a pail and shovel.
Guess I should change because the red hat is not quite the same colour as my eye!
ROFLMAO Ruth! So you're the winter carnival clown, eh? LOL I can totally see you out there shivering away and shoveling poop!
Nice to see you back Dottie, glad you had such a good time. I need to get away myself but Scooby didn't want to pack me in her suitcase (I'd probably bust the zipper! ).
Volunteer day went very well yesterday. Of course you're dealing with kids and not everything is going to go smoothly. Had one little guy named Max BEATING me with his fist! He's a junior and in the junior room there's 14 boys and 2 girls. Can you say outnumbered?
Today is (hopefully) the last of my kitchen reno--then I get to paint paint paint. I'm telling you, I can hardly get over the difference already! We had a door widened, cabinets moved and drywall put up over the cabinets to the ceiling to box them in. My kitchen feels spacious and clean looking. I'm telling you, with just this little bit of work, it makes a tremendous difference.
Made it to Alaska and made it home. New babies are so sweet and tiny -- almost gives you baby fever -- ALMOST!
Just wanted to check in briefly -- need to catch up on posts and the goings on around here! Sure did miss you all.
Stayed OP mostly -- had an occassional piece of pie and still drank WAY too much coffee, but you got to do SOMETHING when you're on a tiny remote little island in Alaska! LOL!
Have a great day, Chicks! Will catch back up in the morning!
January? Really? Yep! I noticed right away...yep, yea sure I did...uh huh, you bet, yessssss sirrrrrrreeeeee! or would that be....mammmmmmmorie??????? (I kill me! I need a life!)
Jenniewookie....that I noticed! good to have you back!
I heard someone calling me! Yep, I'm not that nice and had I noticed, Dottie, I'd have been all over you like you wouldn't believe! Sigh, I missed my chance I guess....
Peach-o That darn scale needle's moving to the left? What does it feel like? It's been so long! I am so proud of you, fuzzy girl. Myself, I'm staying off the darn thing for awhile. It just causes trouble I tell you. Trouble!
Ruth I'm sorry about the eye poking thing. That sounds painful! Hope it's all better now. I thought about you last night as I watched Best in Show at Westminster last night. They never pick the dog I like. Maybe someday you and Miss Lucy will be there so I can cheer for a real dog for a change!
This has to be short, because I will get my exercise in today if it's the last thing I do. I told Sue I was part of the V-day blitz and I meant it!
Your chirpy little Chickadee
p.s. have you all noticed that the January weight loss frenzy seems to be over? Just us faithfuls now I guess!
(The glasses are in honor of our lovely Ruth's new eyewear today)
I am having a senior moment here, I can't remember if I told you guys about my eye last week. I poked a hole in it, and had to wear an eyepatch and these nasty antibiotic drops in it. It must be contagious!
Dottie, don't feel bad, I'm still writing 2001 on my papers at work. Talk about being out of tune!
Pooky, I'm displaying some tremendous envy over your new kitchen. Mine is circa 1978, minus the avacodo green appliances that I lost right away!
Jenni, Alaska! I'm so in need of a deserted island!
Leenie! Hope work is going good for you. Give that baby a scrunch!
Peach, my dd tries to take apart everything we own, lol. It shows their smarts, I say.
Chickadee, I noticed the 30 posts a day didn't last long. Oh, well, that just leaves room for more!
Hope you all had a great day and I'll "see" you tomorrow!
Just a quick Hello, Boys and Girls! (It's Howdy Doody Time!)
Not much interesting to report. Had a great time in St. Louis -- but I have to say that taking DH along sure changed the ambience of my trip. He's one of those rare people who's favorite part of The City is the new Bass Pro Warehouse. I was glad to have him, nevertheless. (I'm a saint, I admit it.) After we dropped him off, the rest of us shopped at a Weekend Furniture (? not quite sure of the name) store -- has anyone ever seen them? It's a new chain -- and apparently they shop for "treasures" all week and are only open for retail on weekends -- great prices -- some unique pieces. I had my eye on a Laura Ashley dining room set...and a granite-topped kitchen island-type thingy. (I think I'm getting Peach's gift of description!)
Now, it's back to business as usual. Stayed the same at WW -- which was unbelievable mercy from the god who forgives calories and carbohydrate and fat grams. My personal Ash Wednesday miracle!
Ruth -- you do crack me up! The only thing you need to finish your ensemble would be a purple hat..."And when I am old, I shall wear purple..." Not that you're old, of course!
Chicadee -- Just one question -- how's it feel to exercise in Christmas lights?
Dottie -- glad for your relaxing trip to Maine. How was the weather? What did you do? Is there snow up there? Taking a trip that starts in Maine and goes south is on my list of 50 things I want to do before I die. Is that anywhere near Prince Edward's Island?
Pooky -- I'm so jealous of your kitchen! I have big plans for mine -- just as soon as the young 'uns graduate from college! I love to sit down w/graph paper and draw out my fantasy plans for things -- but unfortunately, the graph paper is about all we can afford right now!
Jenniewookie -- my BIL's wife's family is from Sitka. He lives in Fairbanks now. How much daylight do they have this time of year? My DH is always trying to get me up there, but the only time it sounds fun to me is during the summer when the days are long!
Peach -- congrats on that new number! I'm proud of you! How's Jiff? Any news of Debkay? She's been in my prayers today.
Leens -- glad to hear you doing well. Hope Gracie is fine...did I mention that we have a cat named Gracie? Small world, ain't it?!
Well, I have to go read my library book -- found a GREAT, BIG library that I've probably passed a dozen times on a side of town I rarely go to -- VERY, VERY cool -- even has it's own "Novel Cafe" for coffee, scones and such -- managed to find a Dean Koontz on the shelf that I hadn't read -- and Tom's out of town until Friday night! Gonna put on my warm, soft jammies, make some sugar-free cafe mocha and put on a little classical music; light some candles, fling a few cats (who will be arguing over who gets my lap) and enjoy a quiet evening.
Sherrie -- I missed you while I was posting! See, you're not the death of the thread, I AM!
Which reminds me, anybody heard from Linda BC? (that sounds weird but i thought of her because she is from the west coast and was last to post a lot of the time)...it worries me that I haven't seen her around.

LindaBC is alive and well and struggling just like the rest of us. Right now she is very pissed off over the skater thing! But she is OK and probably lurks a lot.
Goodforme, you never told us about poking a hole in your eye! Didja pass it on to me? Maybe it's a new trend like piercing!
Now everybody go to bed! LOL! Hershey is asleep on her side of the bed and I am heading for mine. I am planning to sleep with boxing gloves on so I don't poke out my other eye!
