Default Is anyone doing CAD?

Hi,

I've been diagnosed with PCOS and the articles I've read about this condition indicate that I would do better on a lower carbohydrate eating plan. I was looking at the carbohydrate addicts book description at Amazon and thinking about following that plan. Is anyone on this plan (or have been on this plan)? If so, do you like it?

Thanks,

Jo

Hi Jo,
As Sue said, there are lots of us here doing CAD or CALP (Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program). I do CAD and love it. It's the best plan I've ever been on. So far I've lost 31 pounds and feel pretty darn good. I have a lot to go, but since I've tried every diet known to womankind, I know this is the best one for me. I find this easier to stay on that most plans because I never feel deprived. I can have whatever I want at the Reward Meal which goes a very long way in keeping me content. I very rarely cheat because my carb cravings are virtually gone and if for some reason I am craving something I can have it at the RM. I also like that fact that you don't have to count anything. I have always hated doing that stuff - weighing, measuring, figuring points or grams or whatever. To me that makes a plan feel so "diety" whereas this feels like how I'm supposed to eat.

I have read where a lot of people have trouble with the Reward Meal though. Some people find that they go way overboard and don't lose any weight. Luckily for me, that's not a problem even though I enjoy dessert and a glass of wine almost every night. I think it's like any plan in that it works for some, but not others.

So, that's my rather long 2 cents worth. If you give it a try there are all sorts of us here with experience and advice to help you along.

Hello Jo and welcome!

I am doing CALP myself and I LOVE the freedom of the plan! I find I get around the carb cravings by planning my Reward Meal for lunch hour and that way the temptation is off for evening snacks. I know that is what does a lot of people in so I have figured that I can still eat the carbs I love and crave but in moderation and earlier in the day so they have a chance to burn off!

By all means, read as many books as you can about lo carbing and choose the plan you think is suitable for you. Please join us on the daily thread (that's the one with the date on it!) to let us get to know you better!

Hi Jo,

Welcome !!

Yes I've done CAD about 1 1/2 years ago and had great success with it. Got pregnant and well ......... back to square one.

So I've just started up on it again. I've only been on it for a few days but know it will work.

Congrats on picking a plan.

Love Leens
