The three Y's I've had experience with have been awesome! Not only do they have state of the art gyms and classes, they are usually less expensive monthly, than the high dollar fitness centers. (Membership off-sets this cost.)

What I like about the YMCA best is that there are so many family activities. There is so much for the kids as well. Sports are already a huge part of DD#1 life (she's almost 5).

Now, apparently each YMCA is different, so check out the facilities you're going to be using the most to make sure they've got what you want.

Good luck! Have fun!

Mine is a bit laid back but very good. I do belong and hire a personal traier for my workouts that i had met through there. I have had very good luck and do not feel like i am on show for hundreds of beautiful people.

I wish I could offer great wisdom on this---but NOT!

My mom and dad have a wonderful Y that they belong to. Unfortunately our closest Y only offers baseball, soccer and basketball to youth groups. Mom and dad absolutely love what is offered---great gym equipment, trainers (or assistants) and reasonable rates! I'd go for it if it was available to me!

Well we joined the Y! They have a corporate rate with my company so it was quite inexpensive. THey have a great weight room and cardio room with treadmills, bikes etc. They have water activities and soccer and basketball for the kiddies. THey offer day care during the week in the am and pm for the little ones. THe soccer and basketball start when my DS turns five which is coming up, and they have swimming lessons as well, we were laughing about our DS taking the preschool class and swimming in circles around the teacher, he is a fish!!!

They are open from 6am til 9pm with Open swim in the am and pm hours so I think it will work out nicely. It is only about 6 minutes from our house so it is convenient. We shall see, it is worth a try!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great OP day!!

Great for you Scooby! I wish there was a Y in my commuinty but there is a gym. It's pretty expensive to join but I am seriously thinking about it since I am having a hard time getting myself motivated to exercise. I thought that some of the staff there could help me out and show me some techniques.

WTG on the Y. I joined our Y here in Orillia and like it. Like yours we too have everything, plus day care, not that I need it, but thought how wonderful for those who do.

Now to get going to it as Christmas did put a halt to my attendance.....ahem...smarten up Wendy...

Enjoy the Y
