What I learned this morning....

It's a good idea to start the coffee before you go outdoors with the dog BUT never ever open a tin of fish for the dog's breakfast and then expect a dog to do potty before it eats. Hershey romped a bit, didn't squat and ran back to the house three times before I finally gave in and gave her breakfast. And then we had to go back out and the coffee was ready. We trudged the meadow with me sipping away and Hersh doing her snow plow act.

The sun is just coming up on a winter wonderland - can you hear the sleighbells ringing? Today I am planning absolutely nothing except to write a few Christmas notes for local mail. I am also planning food for Family Dinner on next Sunday and the Christmas Eve hordes. A salmon and brie cheesecake looks good for the Eve and I am leaning towards chicken breasts stuffed with ? for the Family bash. I had planned crown roast of pork but the family guest list is growing and it's too hard to carve at the table for 12 people.

So you Chickies - have a nice Saturday and try not to stress too much. Christmas is over a week away but have some fun before then.

Good Morning Kids,

Its blue skys, sunny and very windy here in NJ today, but thats not going to stop us from going out haaaaaaa. I'm so glad it stopped raining, boy that can be depressing in itself lol.

Today I'm going to vaccum, straighten the kitchen and then go out for a bit. Got cabin fever lol.

Tomorrow nothing is planned, just a quiet Sunday I hope.

Have a Grrrrrrrreat Weekend girlies.

Good Morning Everyone--gray and gloomy here again today--no snow, just rain and fog. NOT very festive!! Had 3 OP days in a row going and TOTALLY blew it last night with pizza (at least in was thin crust and 2 brandy and 7 Ups. I have an excuse, but I am not sure you are going to believe this......I know my husband could hardly keep a straight face when I told him....
Yesterday we had a school assembly on science. One of the scientific things they talked about was pressure/force. They demonstrated how you could lay on a bed of nails and it the pressure was so distributed that you wouldn't be hurt.......Well, they wanted a teacher "volunteer" and my loving fanclub of students chanted me out there. I can honestly say that it does not hurt to lay on a bed of nails, but.....when you run a nail in between two fingers on your way down--the resulting slice DOES hurt. The crowd didn't know I was hurt (being the trooper I am)til afterward when I had to leave to bandage it....then my principal sent me to the doctor's office for him to look at it. Two stitches and an antibiotic shot (I am allergic to Tetnus shots) in my butt!!!! What a day!!!!!!!!! Who said that teachers won't do anything for their kids!! Can you imagine the insurance office when they read the workman's comp form that says cause of accident:laying on bed of nails!!!!! Anyway I told my husband I got "nailed" at school and needed a penicillen shot I have to laugh of I will cry like a baby! I have my pain meds to help get me through the weeked full of basketball games, housecleaning, card writing and helping my son with Algebra Please tell me one of you is an Algebra expert??? That's it for me--eating at friends after the game tonight, so don't know how OP I will be then either. When will I get my act together?????

Ruth, I'm so glad you made it through the surgery and sound so perky this a.m. I am jealous of your snow.

Peach, have fun cutting and decorating that tree---I can picture you as "redheaded Georgia Peach" On a serious note I am a confirmed insomniac and have also been having the nightmares lately...I know whereof you speak!

Sooner, I know we have talked about this before, but you must live fairly close to me. You ran in the Bix and Dubuque is about 1 1/2 hrs from us. Good luck with the grades. I think your journal idea sounds wonderful for gifts.

Scooby, enjoy those 4 hours.

Jenny, are your boys getting excited about Christmas vacation and Christmas. My 3rd graders are SOOOOOO excited. Our school Christmas program is Tuesday. One of their songs is "Oh Tom the Toad" to the tune of Oh Tannebaum. It is SOOOO cute!!

Pooky, your basement looks really good and you are the QUEEN of furniture shopping!!! You make slipcovers too???? I wish I had your talent!

Hello to Linda,Leens, Mama, Hensa and everyone else!!! Have a good weekend!

Default Good morning!

We're off to the city to do some shopping in a few minutes. We went to a nice party last night given by the family of the directer of our local Lutheran campground. They are also members of our church so we knew almost everyone! All the children seemed to have a good time. My grandson looked mighty tired when we left.
Our dog did it again! Whenever we let him loose to wander his kingdom, he finds something to roll in. He now smells like rotten sardines! It is a hunter instinct, I realize, but OY VEY!!!!
Well, I'm off to put on my face and make the grocery list. Take care all and God bless!

Good Morning Chickies!

Not feeling too well today could be just a case of the pre-Christmas stressies getting to me. Today is a NO STRESS day for me. I have to take these every once in a while to get back into the swing of things. Today I will take a lovely lavender oil bath, do the personal hygiene things (shaving, clip nails, pumice stone), eat tons of protein, and have a long afternoon snooze. Today I will not clean or launder or vacuum or craft or prepare anything. Usually after a day like this I feel like a million dollars so I can get on with the rest of my life.

Have a good one whatever you're doing today!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Good for you Pook-a-rama! I think your idea of having a no stress day is fabulous. I need to do that too, but today isn't going to be it!

Annie - your story would be hilarious if you didn't hurt so bad! I can honestly say that I have never tried out a bed of nails, so I'm impressed. And, my son is in Algebra 2, and I never, ever venture there. If my husband can't help him, he has to go in to school early to get help from the instructor because I definitely am of no help!

Ruth - Glad to hear that you're out and about and in good spirits. I want more snow here too!

I have to go shopping with my husband for some clothes today. Tonight is his company Christmas party and I refuse to go with him unless he wears something decent. Last year he wore new jeans and a Curious George tie. You know, I respect his creativity and uniqueness, but for once it would be nice to see him looking dressed up! The only time I've ever seen the man in a suit was at our wedding in 1981. It's high time, don't you think?
I am taking it on as a personal challenge to stay OP tonight. It's my Reward Meal so it won't be too bad, but keeping it in the one hour will be hard with all the drinks and appetizers beforehand. I plan on having club soda with a slice of lime while everyone else is having cocktails. I'm also drinking as much water as possible today because I didn't get it all in yesterday and for me it makes a huge difference. I can do this!

Default Happy Saturday, everyone!

Just finished a short visit with sis and BIL from NC, they drove 3 hours to get here, stayed 2, and are now driving 3 more back home. They ate on the road, so no tempting goodies from them, until I opened gifts. A HUGE box of chocolate covered cherries and a glass canister filled with brownies and cakes and raisins and such! I love her, but her goodies are doing me in! She also gave us a cute set of Christmas dishes, which I never would have bought for myself, but will be good for my dinner this year. It's the first time I've had to cook, my little sister always does it, but she will HOPEFULLY be busy with baby by then. She is now 2 days overdue and miserable! Hope everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!

What busy, busy Chicks. I feel positively lazy in comparison.
Today I drove a friend around on some errands and she paid me by treating me to lunch. We each ordered a small pizza and I could only eat half of mine. I brought the other half home and then had a little talk with myself about it and grit my teeth and dumped it in the garbage can before I even came in the door. Even on WW you can have too much of a good thing. I had my weigh in this morning instead of yesterday because I couldn't get the car out of the garage yesterday due to power outage. Man, we're really trapped without electricity, aren't we?
Anyhow, I was down just over half a pound. Still struggling to lose that first 20 lb. Up a bit one week and down a bit the next. One of these days I'll get there. It would help if I could keep my fingers out of the salted peanuts I bought for guests. HA! What guests?
Thinking about that bed of nails. Well, it does make sense that your weight would be fairly evenly distributed so nothing would poke in too much BUT...how do you get down and up from it short of being lowered by a crane? Sounds hazardous to me, Annie. Certainly above and beyond the call of duty. YOu should get hazard pay for such work.
Ruth, glad you're out and around. Sounds like Hershey is glad to be home. Will she recognize her pup when you get it do you think? Today I was at my friend's son's home and they have a young golden lab. It was whining at the patio door and looking so pathetic I begged them to let her in. Well, she was like a whirling dervish, bouncing all over the place, jumping up on us, totally uncontrollable. A beautiful dog but very much in need of some training I think. I'm sure your Hershey is much better behaved than that.
Pooky, your stress free day sounds marvelous. You certainly do deserve the pampering and relaxation. I don't know how you keep up the pace.
Chickadee, I got such a kick out of your hubby's Curious George necktie. He must have a great sense of humor. I can understand you wanting him to get gussied up for a change though. 20 years is a long time to go without seeing him in a suit. My DH is a builder so I rarely see him in a suit but when I do it makes me go all warm and mushy inside. (sigh) He sure does clean up well. Makes me remember why I fell for him in the first place.
Goodforme, good for you resisting those goodies. You could send them to me to guard.
Well, off to do some cleaning. It never ends.

Good Sunday Morning everyone!

I did as I said I was going to do yesterday--I had a lovely bath and I rested. The only thing I didn't do was have the nap. No problem though, I made up for it by getting a good nights sleep.

Cleaning on the agenda today, finishing last of the laundry and general cleaning. The good news is that my oven will rise from the deep once again!! DH traded his services as a computer repair guy to a fella who's an electrician. Tahnk goodness too, just 1 week away from Christmas and I have to get baking!!!!

Have a good one!
