Been a busy girl yesterday as I finished up the very last Christmas cards for the year! Yahoo! My dh has his Christmas cards to do for the folks at his work and then we just sit tight till Christmas.
Was browsing some recipe sites yesterday and ran across a yummy recipe for broccoli and spinach casserole. Sounds just divine! And it's OP too! I'll post it in the recipes, OK?
Morning...kinda nice to get up an hour before everyone else...this could get to be a habit...Hubbby kept the home fires burning yesterday when I worked my 10 hour day shift and I came home to supper made and the homework almost out of the way....so this is what I've been missing all the years of working evenings and nights OP yeterday, but still haven't weighed myself....need to drink my water and take the stairs instead of the elevator....have to bake 2 dozen something for Girl Guides when I get home today and I would like to finish my cards and start to wrap....I can't believe only 2 weeks until Xmas....coming fast! have a great day everyone
Morning everyone. Misty out in the meadow this morning but it is burning off and is going to be a great day.
Hershey and I had a bad night so we slept in until 8 this morning. So strange to wake up to brightness. Hersh has lost a lot of weight and will need to be built up. Those nine pups sure took it out of her and her fur. We are supplementing with eggs, liver, sardines, cod liver oil and a multi-vitamin so she should be back in shape soon. She is 9 pounds lighter than before she got pregnant - 36 pounds! She lost 20% of her body weight. The vet is a bit concerned and so am I.
Today is the day that DH is supposed to lug the Christmas tree up from the basement. I always vowed I'd never have an artificial tree but, after DH had his stroke and heart attack, I gave in and bought a decent looking one. Sure miss the scent - but not the mess and hassle. I do have scent rings for my lightbulbs and can get the Christmas scent that way.
Leens, have you tried Vitamin B6 for that CTS problem? I have been taking it since first diagnosed (1991) and find it helps. I will probably get the operation someday but am stalling as I have too much other stuff in my life right now.
Pooky, must feel so good to be done! I'm looking forward to trying the broccoli casserole - I need to start liking that green stuff more.
Liz, just buy some frozen Nanaimo bars for the GG's. Cut them a bit crooked and they will never know! I fake it a lot - time is so precious this time of year.
Hershey and I are off to the Office for a few hours. Think that tree will be upstairs when I get back? Sure would be nice and then we could decorate this afternoon.
Had a super busy night last night. Boys each to visit friends, dh came home early so that we could sort over $5000 worth of cub scout popcorn. We lined it all up in our driveway by den and then by child, what a job, an oh my aching back! The boys then stopped by after their Carolling at a local senior center, to pick up their popcorn. Although I am anxious for some snow, I was thankful we had a slightly warm evening.
Boy am I glad to be back at work today for a rest!
Good Morning Everyone,
Boy, it was a ghost town around here yesterday! I guess everyone's caught up in the whole holiday thing. I am too, between real life coming and goings.
Man did I pay for going off program Sunday. I'm pretty convinced that part of my heacache, stomacheachey day yesterday was in retaliation. Late afternoon (after I finally ate something, OP of course!) I felt much better. I'll think long and hard before going off again if that's what happens.
Jenny - I used to be Committee Chair for a Cub Scout Pack and a Boy Scout Troop for a long time, so I know the popcorn woes very well. Picking it up was always a lot of work! And sorting it out was worse. Hang in there girl!
DH is home sick today and I have a horrible case of the PMS meanies, so I'm thinking I will go buy the tree today, but wait to put it up until I'm in a more reasonable mood and he's feeling human. I get so crabby some months, and I would hate to yell at the kids for putting an ornament in the wrong spot or something. It is supposed to fun, isn't it?
Just a quick how-do-you-do and then I'm off to make finals care packages for my two studious (please, God) young 'uns.
Two weeks until Christmas? Who said that? Oh, my gosh! How time flies when you're deep in denial about time, money, and energy!
The porch is decorated (more or less) -- I still do the big lights too -- swagged in greenery around the perimeter of the front porch -- they look just right on this old house. I grouse at DH every year about doing the roof -- it would look so great -- but it never happens, and I've yet to venture up there to do it myself. I've always wondered how people attach those lights to make such pretty, clean lines -- permanent hooks? I splurge on a fresh wreath every year to hang by the door -- we have a little flower farm just outside of town that does a huge, gorgeous one for $40 -- that lasts and lasts. It's my Christmas present to me!
Haven't done a bit of "real" shopping -- but I'm determined to stay in my budget this year so I'm going to wait until I know exactly what I have to spend and only spend that (another please, God!). I'll be getting creative w/some of Christmas towels and things I bought last year in the after-Christmas sales -- and really use them as gifts. Usually I shop those sales w/the best of intentions and then decide the next year that they aren't good enough (that's IF I can find them!). This year my bank account has convinced that those towelsl ARE just perfect!
Sooner, are you my evil/not-so-evil twin or something?
Decorated porch - yep.
Husband not putting up lights on roof - yep.
Fresh wreath - yep.
Old house - yep.
Newly fixed up kitchen in said old house - yep.
Feaked about time - yep.
No time, money, energy - yep, yep, yep.
Hmmm, this is getting interesting!

Today was Grandparents Day at our school! Grandparents go there and help their grandkids make about 6-8 ornaments and things. I can't maneuver around the tables(racing children all over the place), so usually DD comes along to help the children. She is sick with bronchitis so Son-in-law did it. I sat and visited with other grandparents. Quite a few mothers volunteered their time too. The noise level is something else! There was coffee and cookies which I passed on. We were fed a variety of soups for lunch. I stuck it out until for 4 hours and kinda quietly snuck out the door. Oy vey, I'm tired from just watching these mothers. How did I ever raise kids?! It is fun though, watching the children grow up from year to year. Next year DH is taking a day off and coming to Grandparents Day! I've done at least 7 and have 10 more to go! One grandmother suggested that after feeding us, they should put up cots for us to take a nap on! LOL!
