Default The Daily Cluck - Wed. November 21

Good morning everyone and happy Hump Day!

After my mini-vacation in LaLa land, I'm ready to go again! This morning I have music and the doc visit to get the results of my biopsy. I am expecting good news. I have also sworn to avoid that darn Chinese buffet in Smiths Falls - my strategy is to take just enough cash to get out of the doc's parking lot. It doesn't make sense but every time I do the Chinese bit, I gain 2 pounds. Now I know it's from water and MSG but it does not go away! Grrrrrr!

I may not be around too much the rest of the week. I still have one costume to make for Country Christmas, a script to write and a mess of baking to get done. Have to work in a voice rehearsal with my pal - we are singing Coventry Christmas Carol about that creep Herod knocking off the wee babies. Meeting of the CC Committee tonight and a Far Board Meeting tomorrow night! Yikes! Somehow I think I may not get the gifts mailed out west this week after all. And we still have not got the outside lights up! DH is waiting for a really cold day, I guess.

We have decided on a treadmill as our Christmas gift to each other - isn't that romantic? Our gym membership comes up for renewal soon and would cost about as much as a treadmill. The thought of driving for an hour in the winter sort of turns us off on the gym bit - especially if I can only do 3 mins on the treadmill! My theory is that with the machine here, I could do 3 mins several times a day and maybe get up to 4! I will miss the swimming but have not been doing that because of my eczema anyhow. It is in control but I know the pool chemicals would make it flare up again.

Holy smokes! Quit babbling and get started, Ruthie!

Ruth, you are making my head spin! I don't think there's even time in there to take a pee!

I am not doing much although I should be doing a lot more. I am behind in my Christmas present wrapping and mailing and I have a deadline of Nov. 30th to get them in the mail! I will say this, I did start on the Christmas cards for our exchange--yahoo!

I know the rest of you chicks are busy busy busy for T-day tomorrow so have a great day!

This Hump day is Friday for me!

I am so looking forward to having a four day weekend! Also looking forward to a relaxing day tomorrow. Watching football, reading the paper and letting my mom do the cooking. I offered to help, but she insisted. Maybe she can see I need a break.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TO ALL!

Have a great op turkey day!

Morning Pooky and Ruth and all to follow!

Gorgeous day -- supposed to be up around 60 today. I'm feeling very blessed with the weather this fall.

One more day until Turkey Mania strikes. Are you READY to RUMBLE?

We're going to my cousins in Illinois for a nice day of food and games (emphasis on the games!). Lots to do between now and then...I'm the salad and relish tray girl. I'm also going to try a WW pumpkin pie recipe that looks pretty good. I'm planning to stay on track -- I've given it some thought and planning. And have been adding some minutes to my walking regime (Ruth -- I LOVE MY TREADMILL! We have it tucked away in our spare bedroom and I have a little TV and VCR in there. It's the only way I've been able to stay consistent w/any kind of exercise. The weather in Iowa is usually just too temperamental to allow me to do what I need to do. I learned that after taking a couple of nasty falls on ice -- and falling at 47 is NOT the same as falling down at 8. Go figure!)

I'm happy to report that I've almost lost 20 pounds this fall. Well, grateful probably describes it better, really. I had gotten to the point of thinking I would never be able to lose ANY weight EVER -- I just have so many old habits and weird ways of thinking about food that just don't want to die. But, I think I'm making a few new habits which are weakening the old ones' hold on me. Maybe that's the key for me -- new healthy habits, then work on getting rid of the old. I always want to get rid of the bad ones and then the good ones should magically appear. The other thing that has helped is being accountable. I don't know why it is for me, but I will promise myself things and break my word right and left, but if I promise someone else, I will try to fulfill it come **** or high water. What's that about? (Another bad habit?! )

I wish you all well today!

Love,
Sooner

I had a nice little visit with my grandchildren yesterday! They are well mannered kids and I really appreciate that!
Today, I have to make an apple pie and the stuffing for tomorrow as we're going down the road to my DD, Zookeepers, house. Her in-laws are coming too so it will be a quiet day. They're such nice people! I also have vacuuming to do and I want to work on replacing a zipper in DH's heavy "wood chopping suit". I love to sew, but I hate patching.
Also, I have to do my time on the Abdoer exercise thingie. I alternate between that and the stationary bike every day.
Have a good Thanksgiving day everyone and God bless!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, AMERICAN CHICKS
The aroma of pumpkin pies baking is drifting northward across the border, LOL. yummy yummy
I've been dipping into the chocolates again. I'm going to have to ask DH to remove them from the house entirely. The spare fridge in the garage isn't far enough.
Pool this morning. Had a fairly good workout but not good enough that I can afford to have four chocolates. Shame on me.
Lots of paperwork to do so I'd better get at it.

Talking Congratulations to me!

Ya'll have to hear this willpower story: I am elected to pick up lunch for the crew today, as I had banking to do. I took the orders and a handful of money down to Maurices and stood there in this endless line, smelling all that wonderful NOT ON PROGRAM FOOD and wanting to lynch this man at a nearby table (he had pie). Well, finally it was my turn to order. Then I rode back to work smelling all this forbidden fruit, drooling all the way. Then, I calmly passed out lunch and ate my SALAD like a good girl! After all, I finally broke that barrier I was at (220) and I'm not going to compromise now!

Let's see if that works for Thanksgiving! UGH! My sister doesn't cook anything that isn't carbs, even the ham is coated with Pepsi. Maybe just a small taste?

Everyone have a lovely holdiay!
