Default Daily - Friday (yippee!!!) Oct 26th

Good morning al you lovely ladies!

I hope you all had a good night rest. It sounds that the weather there is not that nice. Goodluck with all that colds that’s going around. You guys are very fortunate to get snow, I have never ever in my whole life experienced snow.

February this year DH and I went to Europe for a holiday, he left before me to attend a course in France. The evening of my departure he phoned from Brussels to inform me that it started snowing. By the time I got there the following day it was only raining softly and there were no snow, I was very disappointed. The whole 3 weeks that we were touring through the Europe the only time that I saw and touched snow was on one of the roads in the mountains in Germany. It must have snowed there the previous night and everything was melted away expect a little dirty snow that they removed from the road. DH stopped the car and I got out to touch and taste it, (like a little kid) DH had quite a laugh at his stupid wife.
Perhaps you guys could send me some clean snow for Christmas, or post some pictures please.

The weather forecast says it is going to rain the whole weekend, so I am going to take out some videos. I love to watch movies, nice love stories that make me cry. Sunday we will go to church, and have a nice lunch with the family.

Will talk again later today.

Good morning, Hensa and all to follow.

Hensa, I see that your are now firmly in ONEderland. Good going!
We sure would love to send you snow this winter! However, I'm pretty sure it would melt on the journey.

I was pretty darn discouraged after flunking the treadmill test yesterday. Had a nap and got up determined to go for a walk. A 50 mile an hour winds and rain stopped that though in its tracks. I am seriously considering getting a treadmill. I could go to the gym but the travel time would be over an hour and its hardly worth it for 3 minutes. I may take the plunge and get one. We have a small house so it will have to go in the basement - not a wonderful spot but the spiders and mice can laugh as I use it. We have an extra TV and VCR so I could watch movies. Anyhow, I will be doing some serious thinking over this whole weight and health issue.

Tomorrow we have a big meeting of folk from different Fair Boards here in our hall. There will be quilts displayed and hints for baking and other judging. Should be a good day. I have to have 10 dozen donuts there by 8:30 as registration starts at 9. I WILL RESIST!

Have a good TGIF, everyone.

Morning Hensa and Ruth and everyone else later !

Sorry about the snow Hensa. Maybe you could get an ice crusher like they make ice cones from and that's pretty close to the consistency of snow balls. You can hubby could have a snow ball fight ! Just don't eat it with syrup - I'm sure that would be filled with sugar. You could get some fake snow and lightly spray it outside your window at Christmas. Heck - you'll just have to wait for snow in New England and take another trip ! Of course you don't want a blizzard or the planes won't fly. It is very beautiful and peaceful when it snows lightly. I'm sure someone will post a picture sometime.

Sorry about the treadmill test Ruth. If you decide to buy one - my trainer says to never buy new. There's alot of good equipment out there that people buy with the best of intensions and it usually gets used as a clothes rack. So there's lots of good stuff cheap ! I'm sure people can give you lots of good ideas about good ones. Like I bought mine awhile ago from a good store which carries better quality equipment. The cheaper models break down all the time or the motors burn out. You definately want a motorized one with a larger size motor.

You may want to check out some walking videos first ? Leslie Sansone has some super ones ! You just pop them in the VCR and 20 mins. of so of walking in front of the TV and you're done ! I've seen people lose very well while doing these tapes. If I was to start buying them again - I'd check out her new set at collagevideo.com. It's called Walk Away the Pounds Plus. I've bought the original set but this one's even better ! She includes 3 additional (new) videos which I've not seen elsewhere - for only $20. more. That set would take you from beginner to advanced and everything in between. It's low impact and as you advance thru the tapes... she just quickens the pace to keep our heart rates up there. I'm just a beginner myself and I really like it ! I don't even use the weighted balls yet that come with it. I figure just moving this body of mine's enough weight for now ! But I've got them for future use.

Hope this is helpful ! Have a Great weekend everyone !!! Denise

Default Losing Posts?

How is this happening, Peachie? Sometimes you just think you have lost the post. Use your back button and you should get back to it. Another safety thing is to highlight the post, use CNTRL+C before you go anywhere. then if you have lost it, you can paste it back using CNTRL+V.

Hey, Denees - how the heck do you walk in front of the VCR? Do you mean on a treadmill or do you have a really big TV room? I will check around for used treadmills but they are probably pretty seldom out here in the rural Ontario boonies. We have folks who don't know what a treadmill is!

Believe it or not, I am about to brave the cold and walk down for the paper! I may even walk fast to see when I reach my "no more" point.

Catch you later --- if I survive.

Good morning Chickies and all those to come!

Feeling a LOT better this morning and am eager to get on with things again. I promise Linda, I will not over extend myself and have plenty of rests today to make sure I don't go and over do it. I do have to say that the last week forced me to slow down (something I'm not very good at! ) and take care of myself. Even though I was sick, I liked taking the time to focus on my needs, something I don't often get a chance to do with an active 2 year old!

Today is all about house recovery work--you know, the rest of the cleaning dh didn't do. Lots of laundry to do now (sigh) and cleaning out the bathrooms (ick!) and probably as a little reward for all my hard work, a nice cup of tea with my neighbour.

Ruth, sorry to hear about your test and that it didn't go so well. Onward and upward I say!

Hensa, love, I've attached this picture just for you.... My daughter playing in the snow

Hi ! Leslie Sansone has dozens of walking tapes that you do in front of your TV so the weather's never a problem ! I like her newer ones better myself. The only room you need is to be able to walk 2 steps up and back and side to side. She even says if you don't have the room (I just push the coffee table aside) she says to just march in place. They are very fun to do and before you know it - you're into the cool down. She even lets you know when you hit the 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile etc. point. She's got them from 10 mins. to 1 mile, 1 1/2 miles, 2 miles, 3 etc. She also has small squishy weighted balls that come with her newer kits to increase your heart rate and to work your arms etc. It's a very gentle but effective workout. I would suggest wearing aerobic shoes tho instead of walking ones because of the side to side action. You can do a search for her and check out her website etc. She's been around for years. I love her ! Gotta run !!! Denise

Hi Ladies,

Ruthie, bummer on the "F"....but Denise is right there are tapes that teach you how to simulate walking in front of the TV....I was thinking of getting a tape, and I have a dredmill....its in storage now because when we built Grace's room we threw everything in the storage room. I've seen these tapes advertised on TV.

Anyhoooo ladies, its cold today. Gonna slurp my coffee, watch the Golden Girls on TV and then feed the baby, then probably bundel her up and go outside if its not to windy.

Don't even ask how my diet is going........its not. You know the old saying...starting a new AGAIN today ROFL !!!

Have a Blessed Friday
Love, Leens

Default Good Morning Chickies!

hey there! It sure is nice to be able to catch up with everybody since I don't ever catch you guys in the chatroom anymore! hehe I'm in there chatting every morning (usually) from work when I can catch somebody.

Ruth - Leslie Sansonne has the greatest walking tapes ever. You walk in just a little area - almost like walking in place but much much more fun then that. I love her tapes. Right now you can get her newest set at www.qvc.com - really neat. Reminds me I have got to get my behind in gear and drag them things back out. Maybe after the garage sale next weekend I can get back to taking care of me - yea right!

I hope everybody has a great OP day and an even better weekend! busy busy busy

hugs, cathy

Oh gosh, I'm feeling blue. I was only down .2 again today. At this rate I'll be lucky to lose one pound a month. Glaciers melt faster than this! My group leader and everyone else, including my doctor, think this is just fine but I'm getting ticked off. Thanks for the tips on walking tapes. I'm thinking that's what I'm going to have to do as well. I'm not that crazy about walking in our area (too much traffic and not many sidewalks) and I'm even less crazy about walking in the rain which is almost constant. If I could find a treadmill in my price range that I could fold up and store under the bed in the spare room I'd certainly invest in one. I saw one in the latest Sears catalogue that interested me but it only holds up to 250 lb. It was also pretty expensive.
In the latest Prevention magazine there is an article about getting fit and losing weight by doing 8 minutes of weight training at home every morning. I have the weights so why don't I do them? As you know, the more muscle you have the faster you burn calories. I know that the answer to my slow weight loss is more activity. I just have to find a pleasurable way to be active, other than the water exercises I do already.
Ruth, I'm really surprised that you aren't able to walk longer seeing as how you and Hershey are usually out walking every day. Here I was thinking about getting a dog to get me out walking but if it doesn't work I may as well save myself the extra dusting and vacuuming.

Default Leslie Sansone videos

Hey Cathy !

She's got an even better set right on at collagevideo.com ! It's her newest set but it's also got 3 more new tapes that she doesn't sell seperately - for only $20. more. (for all 3) One's even a firming one. Another one I think makes you feel that you've just ran ? Not sure about the 3rd one. Plus when I orderred my set from collage - I got it right away but some friends who orderred theirs from her site - were waiting for weeks to receive them.

Ruth ? Was it you who was hoping for a treadmill to store under your bed ? They're all too big to do that - except maybe the manual ones... which you don't want.

Take care everyone !!! Denise

Default Oy vey!

I'm so tired! Hubby had the day off today as he was all caught up at work! We went to the city for some power shopping. Went to Sam's club, Wal-Mart and two grocery stores. I've seen enough people to last me a whole week! It was very busy in all the stores as there was no school and everyone was shopping! I'm going to take a nice warm shower and forget about exercising tonight. Tomorrow won't be so busy (ha ha) and I'll do a bit more.
Take care all and God bless!
